Great weekend away would recommend to anyone. Friendly staff, excellent service, can't wait to go back again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, having little knowledge of the area prior to this trip everyone was very welcoming

The Oxenham Arms is one of my favourite pubs - always a buzz, nearly always a lovely log fire going and some great food and beers. The bar is said to have been frequented by Charles Dickens and David Bowie - separated by some 175 years. It is full of character - everytime I have been there there is an...

I booked a 3 day stay at the Oxenham Arms, with my wife, and I cannot recommend it enough. Its quite a unique pub, with an interesting history and quirky interiors. We stayed in the Lydford Room, a very nice room with a comfortable four poster bed. The staff were very friendly, and we had some delightful conversations with John...

My partner booked us a staycation this year and this was by far the most wonderful place we stayed during our trip. We got a warm welcome, advice on what to see, a fantastic dinner, a great atmosphere in the pub and the most luxurious room with a huge, four poster bed and views across Dartmoor. This place is so...

I have to say how impressed we were with the nice welcome we received when we arrived from John and from all the staff through the evening. We didn't realise but the night we chose to stay was an Italian night with live music. I have to say how nice it was to see so many locals supporting this event...

Having heard and read some good reports we decided to book a meal at the Oxenham Arms. We booked for 8.30pm as we were travelling back from Gloucester. One of our party had arrived early and was sitting at the bar having a drink listening to the bar staff complaining and moaning that we were slightly late, we were in...

Dear Cornish 1311 Our humble apologies for your disappointment at our front of house staff members comments. If I am not mistaken from both your review here and your groups experience on the night everything else was to your satisfaction. You may recall that we did offer you desserts after your main courses which your party declined and so our...

I was taken away for a long weekend and my boyfriend chose The Oxenham Arms; and what an excellent choice he made. We stayed in the Chagford room and it had dual aspect views, a very comfortable bed and lovely products in the bathroom. Just lovely .... and even a little chocolate on your pillow every day! The staff were...

Dear Burrsie11 Thank you so much for your lovely review of The Oxenham Arms, our service, our food, our building and our staff. You both certainly made the most of your stay here in The Dartmoor National Park. The chocolates are a bit naughty aren't they, but delicious. You are correct, John in our absence occasionally does run the place...

This is a great local pub. Food is above average for pub food in the area, with a changing menu and some very tasty options. Some nice local beer and decent wine. Lovely and cosy in the winter and amazing beer garden when the sun is out!

Dear Peckish Feeling A big thanks from everyone at The Oxenham Arms for your lovely review. As you know the Oxenham started as a Monastery, became a Manor House, became an inn in the year 1477 then became a hotel in 1805. This beautiful and unique building is many things to many people including a Good Local Pub ! To...

We stayed here as a recommendation, normally I think someones prince is another persons pauper, this is not the case. The Oxenham Arms is a King among no equals. We found the room, staff, food and bar to be perfectly delightful. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would say if you want to explore dartmoor, this makes a perfect...

Dear Mark S What a wonderful review thank you so much. I know just what you mean. We have often gone to restaurants after a recommendation only to be disappointed and never found out why. Of course owning and running a country house hotel and restaurant is as you also know down to the staff you employ and consistency across...

Historic pub with lovely beams, quirky and interesting. Warm welcome, and such comfy beds, four-posters are great. The rooms look better than they do on the website, and the bed-covers are luxuriously heavy. Food is good value and good quality - who combined with the uniqueness of the hotel it makes for a great stay. And then there's the surroundings...
