We were boating the Rideau Canal and stopped here for the evening.

After check-in, we went for happy hour/supper. OMG, they had the friendliest waitresses. Just listening to them at other table brought smiles to our faces.

We had the Blue Cod fish and chips and the pork souvlaki. Both meals were excellent, the French fries were amazing and we overheard other tables commenting on them as well.

Then we shared a peach cobbler for dessert which was also delicious.

After a great sleep in our comfortable bed, we enjoyed a great breakfast which was included with our room. The eggs, sausage or bacon, toast and potatoes were a great start to the day.

Maybe the best thing we could say is that we would gladly stay here again.

Been frequenting Hotel Kenney every summer for years now, and have eaten at the Hotel but mostly went to the nostalgic snack bar for breakfasts and ice cream. Went to Hotel Kenney a few times with different friends who wanted to go there and experience the Hotel, locks etc..in the summer of 2011. The Inn is beautiful and has retained for the most part it's historical charm and beauty. The scenery is splendid. The Hotel food on the three occasions that I went, was okay. Not bad, have had better, but it was okay. The waitress's were friendly and accommodating. But the lady at the front desk who called herself the manager, was very unfriendly and un-accommodating. She seemed angry and with a scowl on her face and we heard her being angry and saying nasty words to the other friendly staff. Certainly not a good presence or representative for the old Hotel. We were glad that she did not serve us our food. Also, when going last summer, we could not get our favorite breakfast at the snack bar anymore. They do not serve it anymore and are not even open anymore in the mornings. We use to love going every weekend for breakfast there. Sometimes we had to wait for a table because it was so busy in there and on their porch. And there is no more store either and the old familiar friendly face's of the ladies that served us all the time arel gone. Not sure what has happened at the grand Hotel Kenney in the past couple of years as a whole, but surely some mis-management and poor choices and decisions have been made....It is still a beautiful place to go and see, with the canal and locks there.

We enjoyed a rainy weekend at the hotel during a cool October. Despite the weather the hotel was cosy, the food was enjoyable, and the staff were outstanding. For a place only open in the warmer seasons it is rusticly pretty, and the location is truly unique. A hidden gem!

We ate at Kennedy's 3 years ago during the peak summer period and found the place busy with boats and tourists milling around.
Last week we drove in to have another look at the locks and were shocked to find the entire place a ghost town.
Kennedy's was closed, looked run down and the businesses across the street were also deserted.
We actually parked our RV in the middle of the road and ate lunch, not a sole, boat or cottager in site for 2 hours.
We later found out the place is up for sale .... good luck.
We packed up and left saying "what happened" it feels like we just left the Twilight zone.

Visited Jones Falls and decided to eat at the Kenney restaurant. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Service was excellent. The menu was original and I give credit to the establishment for offering a unique cuisine for the area. Ordered the souvlaki platter, fish and chips and butter chicken. All items were absolutely delicious…in fact we returned for another meal during our vacation. Under new management and making improvements…I would absolutely recommend visiting this restaurant.

New owners have done wonders in the past couple years. Nothing but good things to say about our overnight stay, dinner and the complementary breakfast. We were a bit unsure about the dining situation - there is so much more available than what is noted on their website. But there is a full dinner menu and on the weekend an amazing brunch which was included with the room.

Great brunch buffet. Lots of choice and food was fresh and delicious. Service was great! Restaurant is clean with an amazing view overlooking Jones Falls lock.
Have also been there for dinner and is was equally great.
Jeff and Cor have done a great job bring Hotel Kenney back to life.

After reading the online review about the new owner and the "wonderful" chef who used to cook for the Governor General in Ottawa, we decided to go there for dinner.
The service was amateur, poorly trained college girls. The food was mediocre at best, like a roadside diner not a high end restaurant. Tiny portions of salad and Kraft dressings nothing gourmet. They could not serve a glass of tomato juice "because it had not been delivered for the season yet" even though it was on the "printed daily" menu. Servers kept bumping our chairs as they squeezed through to other tables, and after waiting for 20 minutes for dessert we had already ordered, I had to go to the serving station to ask for it. Not grand cuisine, just a country diner.

The room had twin beds, rock hard, both leaning to the head; the floor was not flat, the shower was a trickle; room stank of mold/mildew. Food was adequate but nothing special - all the options were not available. Owner was apologetic but there was no compensation. $300 (with a $20 tip for the waitresses) per night is a rip-off. Worst room stayed in since 1982.

Location is wonderful, just go there in a boat or drive on after a nice look.

Had the opportunity to visit the hotel kenney sept 6 -8 2012. Well what a dissappointment. We were there for a family function. Had the second row of "cabin" # 1-6, behind the main lodge building. They claimed when we booked there was air conditioning, coffee makers and microwaves. Well the air did not work no microwaves and no coffee maker. Also the rooms are so out dated and smell horrible. Musty and stale smell. They should be ashamed of their selves for renting rooms in such poor and disgusting states. They never told us that we could get meals in the main lodge. And the maids are rude and disturb you early in the morning apparently the do the laundry as well as clean the rooms , so they need the towels and bedding early . We understand this was end of season but they rented the rooms in a prearraingment, well ahead of the season ending. The price they charged was very expensive for what they offered. We live near Niagara falls Canada and would never pay that price for anything half as bad. Would never recommend this place ever unless they do some serious renovating and take a course or to in hospitality. The area in absolutely beautilful scenery and northern ontario country. however they has to be some better place to stay than here. This place would actually be amazing if the owners put some of the money they are charging into it and upgrade and offer more right up to Thanksgiving. It would be beautiful to go there in the fall, as the colours of the trees would be awesome. The picture on the website is very deceiving. So beware before you go . It is not what it seems. First time there and last.
