Borgo is the Italian word for village. Borgo Egnazia, a stroll from the Adriatic Sea on the fertile plains of Puglia, is a village of dreams hewn in the beautiful white Tufo stone of the region. If it had existed in ancient times it would have been the eighth wonder of the world! But although it looks as if time, sun, footsteps and sea breezes have weathered its facades, Borgo Egnazia is a 21st century creation that sparks the imagination with its characterful buttresses and the higgledy-piggledy layout of the casette around the central Piazza. You arrive at La Corte (the court), which sits like a manor house or Moorish Castle to the side of the village. It's a castle of troubadours and sanctuary though, not of battlements. Here are rooms where you can take your sojourn with us, descending the sweeping stairway to enjoy the bars, restaurants, terraces, spa and pools as well as the many secreted, gently lit bowers in a labyrinth of corridors that make it seem as if you had entered the Temple of Aphrodite! Alternatively you can choose to stay in one of the Borgo's casette, a deux or as a family of four, which nestle around two piazzas down bougainvillea- scented alleyways that you would swear had been there since the days of carts and horses. Larger families might prefer to take one of our 29 villas that fringe the village with their own plunge pools and shaded gardens, lush with oleander and rosemary. Borgo Egnazia is hard to describe. It's a place like nowhere else, with so much thought having gone into every detail. You have to come and experience it for yourself. What we have done is given glimpses about the many characteristics of the place. We hope you enjoy these. If they conjure in your mind the sense of a place rich in earthy provenance, splendid in its imagining and deeply restorative in its comforts and perfection, then our words will be doing some justice to the reality of Borgo Egnazia. Vair Spa Vair is emphasizing the role played by internal beauty, which illuminates each one of us and never deteriorates. We are introducing the results of a year's worth of research into an essential theme: The fulfillment of the psyche, that can be searched in a series of extraordinary treatments born precisely from this vision. Before choosing the best tailor-made spa itinerary, our guests often say they would like to feel happier after their treatments. This is why we suggest that you do not miss the life-changing treatments, which are carried out in the friendly and inviting atmosphere at Vair, the innovative and modern Mind & Body Spa surrounded by Puglia's natural beauty. We train every day to have the clearest attitude in welcoming you. The Training of the Spa Team has been extra-ordinary. Inspired and excellent teachers, all masters in their arts, left us tools and knowledge to enhance our methods for delivering committed Spa experiences in this changing world.

Borgo Egnazia, nestled conveniently for day excursions to Ostuni and Alberobello, garners praise for its ambiance and pristine upkeep. Guests commend the hotel's extensive amenities, such as the pools, spa, and dining options, and the cleanliness that radiates throughout the property. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and unique charm, some visitors suggest an enhancement in room service. The staff's attentiveness has received accolades, although experiences of inconsistent service have been noted. Despite its charm, a few guests consider the pricing steep, taking into account the expected luxurious experience.

We stayed at the Borgo over the Christmas holiday in a Casette Splendida. The hotel honored my leaders club Aurelian membership and upgraded my booking to the biggest cassette (stand alone home type of lodging) and it was a very nice surprise!

This property is truly one of a kind. It’s so big it’s almost a small town. I can’t remember the number of times we got lost just trying to find our room :D. The check in process was very swift and the front desk staff showed us to our room in her super stylish hooded robe. The lighting in this property is very soft to create a sense of warmth with nice aroma the air.

Our room is equally amazing. On the first floor there is a living room, bathroom and a spare bedroom. On the second floor there is the master bedroom and master bathroom with full tub and a separate shower. It also has heated floor. It also comes with a private balcony and a roof top deck with partial ocean views.

During our stay there was a special Christmas market in the central plaza every night with free appetizers, drinks and some interesting things to buy. There were also fun things to do such as pasta making class.

There are plenty of dining options just inside the property with two separate breakfast halls. We tried the room service on our last day and the pizza was out of this world with excellent service.

Overall we had such a blast at this hotel and we really are looking forward to our return in the near future.

We spent my birthday and New Years eve 2019/20 and could not recommend Borgo Egnazia more. The hotel is like it's own little village and takes some time to explore like many small Italian towns in the area. The experience itself was nothing less than 6 star. The rooms and service were impeccable. On my birthday 30th December we enjoyed a 'cave' dinner which although expensive was amazing. We had local food and amazing hospitality. I found the New Years even dinner a little too long and got very hungry before some of the food came out but that is the Italian way of eating. I will look to return in warmer weather since I think this has so much more to offer than what I could see in 4 days. I also like the secure feeling of the property and the concierge service for the car. The check in process was also smooth along with the whole experience. Breakfast was vast although the breakfast room did get busy around 9.30am. The attention to detail is second to none.

I stayed for five nights in early September. The hotel is spectacularly well-designed - it looks incredible.

Guests are provided with a local advisor (a concierge) who will organise whatever you want to do. Our advisor, Antonio, provided lots of advice and support and was always on hand via WhatsApp. The service generally is superb. The whole team are friendly and helpful.

I stayed in a Casetta Bella room in Il Borgo. I was unsure about what room type to choose - there were only two of us travelling. The Casetta Bella is a one bedroom house. On the ground floor is a large (and I mean large) patio garden, a living room, kitchenette and WC. (I would say that you're unlikely to use the kitchenette.) On the first floor is the bedroom and bathroom, and a balcony with stairs leading up to the roof, which is perfect for sundowners. It was definitely large enough for two!!

The restaurants are all very good. We headed to Due Camini, for the Puglian menu, which was delicious. (There was a peach dessert that I am still dreaming about.) On Thursday night, we joined the fiesta in the square, which was a lot of fun. The beach cafe was a great spot for beautifully cooked seafood at lunch. La Fresco was great for a relaxed dinner, as was the pizzeria in the square. (After the pizzeria, I recommend a trip to the Gelateria.) The bar served some great cocktails.

I joined Pippo on a fishing trip early one morning, and it was magical to watch the sunrise over the Adriatic. The beach club has a ton of water sports available, and it's worth doing.

Overall, this is the sort of hotel that you never want to leave. I cannot wait to return.

As we entered this property we were stunned. So beautiful! Our room was also nice. The grounds were incredible. But the rest was quite not 5star standard.... maybe it was because of Covid, but the service was quite mediocre. We kept on having issues with the cleaning staff, since we had a baby who slept twice in the day in the room, cleaning had to be in specific hours. And till we complained to the experience manager that was somehow always a problem, misunderstanding or something else!
Whenever we came to the pool, there was one girl, who was actually the life guard who was in charge of the towels and umbrellas and everything, for 3 children’s pools! Seriously! These are kids! You cant have one life guard, who is on top actually a towel person. Also had just two bar staff. Just seriously somehow understaffed!
They try to be really waste/recycling friendly and they have a funny system with the water, which they didnt really explain, so we were quite confused about the no water in the room, in such a hotel.
The breakfast was really nice, but the rest of the restaurants and food was also quite questionable.... they had a slogan that everything is possible, but we constantly encountered some impossible issues, which should have been mega easy to solve! During our stay there were also 2 big conferences, and the staff was also so overwhelmed, i mean, i know its is Covid now, but i am sure in previous years they were fully booked. How is it possible that now everyone is like headless... very strange. There were some individual waiters that were trying to do everything possible. But it cant be thats its like 2 waiters, actually it should be lets say the restaurant mangers, who, in their case, was quite unfriendly and indifferent.
And the last thing to mention, the beach is just 0 kids friendly. Its very dangerous and also greatly understaffed.
When we were leaving, i called the reception to get our luggage, it took them 40min to get our luggage to the car, we had to go twice to reception to ask where it was!
Last thing to mention, they have an amazing aqua yoga teacher! If you do go and like yoga, definitely book him!!
The hotel is beautiful. But the staff, the food, and the service is just really suffering for some reason. Quite disappointing, especially for the money you pay!

Borgo Egnazia is a manufactured compound that like many of the Four Seasons, or Ritz Carlton properties could be located anywhere. It was pretty in a "Designed" sort of way but lacked a sense of place or soul. Why go to Puglia to be anywhere and not aborb the Pugliese way of life.
What I liked about the property - in no special order:
The staff was friendly
The boutique had interesting items for sale that were unique to the region
The color palette was soft and monochromatic
There was nice soap in the bathrooms mounted to the wall
The breakfasts were very good with a lot of options at the buffet
The linens in the room were soft
There are nice regional plantings around the property
They attest to being sustainable
Probably a good place for families that like staying on compounds and don't really want to learn anything about the region
The cocktails at the bar were nice

What I didn't like - again in no certain order:
The fact this property was manufactured and had no tie to the region
While is was near the water the room had no view
The different interior vignettes all look the same with similar props that seem to all come from some central accessories factory
The layout of the central corridor was incredibly confusing and rather annoying
The lighting of the main hall was too dark and the signage was almost invisible and rather annoying as well.
Everything was way too expensive beginning with the room price per night
It's a compound
It's Pretentious
For some reason the pool had really rough and sharp stone around it
The sliding door that was located in front of the TV came off its track and was annoying.
The bedroom was crammed full of "designed accessorization "and felt crowded
The shower door never really closed
The cost of food was 2 to 3 more expensive than what you would pay locally and not necessarily better.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to share with your opinion on your experience at Borgo Egnazia. All comments and suggestions from our guests help us to improve every day. We are happy to read the positive aspects of your stay, surprised and sorry, on the other hand, for the negative ones. We regret not having been able to convey the soul of Borgo Egnazia. The magic of our places, the spirit of genuine hospitality of our staff, the surrounding area made up of traditional experiences and flavours make up the soul of Borgo Egnazia. The link with the region is perceived right from the construction material of the entire property, white tuff, Apulian stone. The same applies to all the details surrounding the Borgo, from the rooms to the common areas and restaurants. Even the lighting is deliberate to give guests the most relaxing experience possible surrounded by Mediterranean bush and centuries-old olive trees. We are sincerely sorry that we were not able to convey all this to you, but we hope nonetheless to be able to change your mind on a second occasion. Best regards, Borgo Egnazia Team

I had a bad first impression of Borgo Egnazia when I arrived after a long drive, and rather than being waved through the gate, was kept waiting while the porter stands there making notes on a clipboard about god knows what (while a line of cars also waiting starts forming behind), which was just a taste of how disorganised everything appears to be at the hotel. My experience didn't get much better from there, when I discovered my room wasn't ready (no big deal, I arrived an hour or so before check in time) and left my bags at reception to go and have lunch, only to be told that there's no space at the restaurant. So I sat in a corner at a low table with no choice but to order from the limited bar menu, and the food was incredibly disappointing. I was hoping this was a one-off: but no, my dinner that night (at the pizzeria in the Borgo square), and breakfast the following morning were both awful (and the service was terrible too, with me having to repeat orders and simply being ignored half the time). After my meal, I'm finally told that my room is ready, only for a receptionist to take me there and look very confused to discover that housekeeping has just started cleaning it. The place is basically a shambles I realised, so I just sat around in the hallway twiddling my thumbs until housekeeping left.

The hotel is massive and has a huge number of rooms, so if you like a sense of serenity or intimacy on your holidays, then this is definitely not the place for you. It seems to market itself heavily to families and has tons of child-oriented activities on offer and kids everywhere, so as a solo traveller looking for some peace and quiet it was basically a disaster. The property itself is pleasant and nicely designed, and has good facilities (nice, spacious pools), but that is really the only good thing I can say about the hotel: the experience as a guest is nothing short of terrible.

The "king" bed in my room was two twin mattresses pushed together, with the inevitable annoying seam running down the middle. Bizarrely, they offer you only oversized pillows which are clearly meant to be decorative, and are so spectacularly uncomfortable that I found it hard to sleep. Probably the worst bedding of any hotel I've stayed at in the past several years.

And all this for the price of.... 2,000 euros per night (for the cheapest room option). It is, without a doubt, one of the most insultingly overpriced hotels I've ever been to (and that's saying something). Don't waste your money - I'm being generous giving it 2 stars in my review, only because the grounds are quite nice.

Dear Guest, We carefully read your review, and we thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, but we are very surprised and regretful to read these negative words about your stay. As a first thing we would like to apologize for everything that went wrong, these are undoubtedly very serious incidents for us. We value every detail, and all phases of our guests' stay, from arrival at the property to check-out time. And that's why we're amazed at all these problems you experienced. We would like to point out that we will elaborate on everything you tell us, making sure that none of this ever happens again. We are also surprised if our culinary offers did not meet your expectations. The quality of our dishes and the raw materials we use are always appreciated, which is a source of great pride for us: we can tell people all over the world about Puglia and its flavors. Here at Borgo Egnazia, we respond to the needs of all our guests, who are often very different from each other. That is why we have so many restaurants that can satisfy all kinds of tastes and desires. The same is true for the kinds of stays and experiences we offer on the property and outside of it. More specifically, we offer tailor made experiences to all our guests: from families, to couples, to solo travelers. Everyone can experience the type of stay that best suits their needs, because we pay attention to all types of guests staying here. As you may have noticed, in a place as big as Borgo Egnazia, there are family-friendly areas as well as quieter areas, such as pools and restaurants of all kinds. All these things we have explained to you and the care we put into everything we do daily justify our prices that meet the high standard of quality of the services we offer. Hoping to change your mind and make you finally experience a "Nowhere Else" stay, we sincerely hope to welcome you back to Puglia and Borgo Egnazia. Kind Regards, Borgo Egnazia Team

Overall experience not great.

The location of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere so it is very far to get to the main attractions but I appreciate that some people may like the remoteness.
The hotel was purposely built to look like old Italian village which is very sweet but overall I think the hotel is very overrated.

The service and housekeeping is diabolical . For over €2000 per night there was no water in the room, the garden was useless , the bathroom was smelly , the bath didn’t hold the water , the wc downstairs was constantly running water and the staff didn’t even bother to reply to our text about it (they create WhatsApp with you on arrival).
The accommodation is very small and very badly designed. There is no space to put anything in the bathroom so we had to keep everything in our bags unpacked. The wardrobe is located next to the bed where you can hardly open the door. The wall lams are made of concrete blocks and they are very badly located (stairs and next to the bed) so you constantly bang your shoulder when passing.
We had large sun roof terrace but absolutely no furniture or sun lounges there, not even a table and chairs so in the end we had to bring all the cushions we could find in the apartment , spread them on the concrete terrace floor and lie on them. Just ridiculous!!! .

The only good things I remember about this hotel was great pizza and the lighting at night which was beautiful.

However for over €2000 per night B&B I would certainly not be rushing back.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about your experience at Borgo Egnazia. Any feedback is useful to help us to improve our services and of course it is saddening to know that some aspects were disappointing for you. We are sorry to read such a negative tone about your journey. The flavors and colors of Borgo Egnazia, as well as the perfumes, tell about Puglia and its traditions in an authentic way. We regret we didn’t give you our values which are appreciated by our guests. We believe that apart from all the facilities and comfort of the interior, which probably does not coincide with your personal taste, the caring and attentive service is what gives us personality and identity that justifies our prices. We put all our efforts in creating the right space and intimacy for all our guests. We hope to have another chance to welcome you back. Kind regards, Borgo Egnazia Team

We went in Borgo and spent 3 nights as part of a Corporate Award Recognition to the Peak Performers.
The place is a real "Borgo" all built with local Tufo clear stone. Every single piece of the architecture and interior of each room has been designed around this stone.
Golf course, sport facilities, Spa and wet area, food everything was just perfect and allowed us to relax for few days.
This is a premium high standard resort where all details are studied and implemented to provide to guests an incredible customer experience.

We stayed at Borgo Egnazia for 4 nights in early August and thorough enjoyed our stay. The property, while newer, is beautifully constructed. We stayed in a Casetta which was beautifully appointed and had lots of space, both indoors and outdoors. We took full advantage of all the facilities while there. The pool areas are lovely and spacious and service is quick and attentive. The beach areas are also great and we particularly enjoyed our poor attempt at windsurfing. The spa area is beautiful and the massages we had were enjoyable. The gym is very well appointed and maintained. We ate at all restaurants except one and the food was great in all of them (the Michelin starred restaurant requires long trousers, which we had neglected to bring with us!). We particularly enjoyed the beachfront seafood restaurant.

Finally the real differentiating factor for Borgo is the high level of service throughout the resort. From the front desk, poolside, spa, beach, restaurants and our own private guest manager (Francesco), all went out of their way to help and really made our stay special.

I would highly recommend a visit here. We will return for sure.

I really needed a vacation and the Borgo Egnazia was above and beyond what I needed. We traveled as a family of 3 with a 25 month old. Everything about the Borgo Egnazia, from the beautiful plants, to the tremendous service, to the gorgeous pools, was just idyllic. We stayed in the family friendly area and loved the back patio off our room. The breakfast was simply delicious. I’m not sure if it’s normally a buffet, but we way over ordered with the table service. But enjoyed every bit. I think the mozzarella was the best we ever tasted.

We only stayed 2 nights, and ate dinner onsite once at the restaurant by the sea. While we enjoyed the atmosphere, our experience in Fasano was far superior from the perspective of cost, experience and taste. Prior to our arrival we worked with Fabio to plan most aspects of our trip. He was absolutely amazing and his recommendations were spot on.

I am dreaming of the time when we can return.

Hi, I suggest either the end of May beginning of June ( the forecast yesterday was 34 so very hot) and end September to beginning of October. Just make sure that all the restaurants are open as the outdoor restaurants close for the cooler months. During the summer there are, also there are more outside evening events which are usually worth attending …. BBQ's in the piazza etc. The pool remains open for longer … the attendees are excellent especially Francesco who was brilliant during our stay …. he is there all summer. Try looking at Accuweather or Holiday weather and search Bari which isa the nearest major place and only a short drive up the coast.
