Called in on Friday night unbooked for an early supper (5.30) fair enough, afternoon tea finished at 5.30, and dinner didn't start till 6.30. So a gin and a glass of dry white wine would pass the hour, except at £7.20 for a glass of Sauvignon what a surprise! I choose from the specials menu, pan-fried plaice on lemon mashed... More

Came here again for Sunday lunch, this time with the extended family for my mother's 86th birthday. The staff could not do more, giving individual attention to my elderly parents and the food and service was fantastic. This made such a difference to us all. This is a quality establishment with staff who really care and go the extra mile.... More

Great rooms, centrally located. Staff was very friendly. Nice common areas and bar. If you're in Uppingham, this is a great choice. Restaurant serves simple but tasty breakfasts. Downside is that there is no elevator, so heavy/many bags will be a pain but staff is willing to help. Enjoyable stay.

Imposing building right in the Market Square overlooking the ancient church and pretty shops around, old stone walkways - a lovely place to walk around. Ample parking but you have to look for it and the Parking Wardens are hot! Bright sunny dining room, well laid up, clean and shiny but the service is a little slow, I think they... More

Uppingham is a very pretty Market town in the tiny county of Rutland, more or less in the middle of England, it looks like the Cotswolds but further North. A spacious area for drinks and a friendly face at the bar, he room was set up for our private luncheon with white table cloths and shiny glassware, it looked attractive... More

I visited here with granddaughter and friends for afternoon tea. We were warned that is would be substantial and so it was. The girls took 2 boxes of cake back into school. The sandwiches were very fresh and tasted great while the cakes and scones were also memorable. The restaurant also caters for Coeliac patients with gluten-free substitutes for sandwiches... More

My wife and I always stop here for a coffee on our way to the bonnie banks of Rutland Water and I think it is worthy of a comment or two. The lounge area is large but cosy; deep soft settees facing a real log fire in the colder seasons. This room is mostly populated by genteel ladies of a... More

My daughter and I stayed for one night and were very impressed by the hotel, the staff (mostly) and the food. The lounge looked very comfortable as we walked through from the car park at the back, and we were greeted very warmly by the friendly receptionist. Our room was in the more modern extension and was nicely furnished and... More

We nipped in for a delicious breakfast: smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were delicious. Service was a bit slow, some of the staff could do with a little more of a "can do" attitude but they were friendly. Lovely ambience. Carrot cake was good too. Didn't stay so can't comment on rooms.

The Falcon is one of those hotels where you immediately feel at home. The owners have taken great care to preserve the Falcon as a traditional coaching inn, yet have kept pace with modern demands. The main lounge at the heart of the hotel is centered around a roaring log fire with plenty of large comfortable sofas; the dining room... More
