Detailed Reviews
I booked this hotel because I found a great price on Orbitz. When we arrived they told us when breakfast would be and when I asked if it was included in the price they said yes. They had fresh squeezed orange juice which was so delicious. The bathtub was amazing, great hot water and the sheets are so, so soft. The floor of the bedroom and the hallway is a but creaky but it's to be expected of a place with such history. It was so clean and wonderful. I am so glad we stayed here. Be aware it is far from Veguellina train station. If you are taking the train, you're probably better off going to Astorga and taking a taxi from there. Ruben (and his brother?) were both so kind. I informed them my husband and father's birthday were approaching and they managed to put a candle in the dessert. Thank you so much for everything!!!! I heartily recommend staying here. Also: there is an antique shop down and across the street. It's worth a look, we saw a whole suit of armor for sale! :)

I stayed here because I was looking for a place to stay for a dinner at El Capricho in nearby Jimenez de Jamuz. This was my first trip to Spain and I was not familiar with the area but the hotel looked beautiful and I decided to book a room for a night.
There's no other way to describe it - the town of Luyego is in the middle of nowhere. Just a few miles outside of Astorga, you head off on a country road towards an incredibly majestic snow-capped mountain range. The view is stunning.
This is a family-run hotel and it looks like a castle. Everything is period. I'm not a great historian so I don't know exactly what period but more medieval than anything. Staying in the Orion room, I felt as though I were some Conquistador stopping for the night as I lay siege to Leon. The room is rustic, to the period but with the modern conveniences of radiator heat and a modern bathroom with all the amenities.
The sons of the owner were there to greet me as I walked through the heavy timber door. There's a small cafe area in the main lobby, an opulent dining room and a courtyard.
I enjoyed a delicious and exquisitely prepared lunch of a fish filet that was perfectly cooked.
Sadly, I was only here for a very short time. I would have liked to spend more time in the hotel just enjoying the facility and soaking up the atmosphere. The town is small but very charming and I wish I had the time to walk around and explore. But alas, I was here for a dinner and had to head off to the restaurant.
There happened to be a pretty heavy storm while I was here but there were no problems. With an early flight out of Madrid, I had to leave the hotel very early in the morning. They lock the doors of the hotel at night but one of the brothers was there quickly to unlock the door so I could get on my way.
It's a bit out of the way but I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. I think you will be rewarded.

We spent only two nights in this cozy and charming family-run hotel in the tiny village of Luyego de Somoza, near the Leon Province city of Astorga. Thoughtfully rebuilt from an old dilapidated stone building, Hosteria Camino has nine individually appointed rooms (each named for a constellation), with antigue furniture but modern bathrooms. The village is very sleepy, but the surrounding area is beautiful and the valley is loaded with similar villages. The kitchen is run by the mother (whose middle name is Hosteria - hence the name), whose life-long dream had been to have a restaurant. Her husband and sons manage the hotel and the front of the house. Service is top-notch and personalized. We were a group of six, including two small children, and we could not have had a nicer time at this little hotel, which is part of the Turismo Rural network in Spain. Highly recommended if you are looking for a peaceful few days in the countryside.

This Michelin-rated, award winning posada is in the middle of nowhere, but well worth the trip! Luyego is a small village amongst gently rolling farmland, about 17 km from Astorga. As another reviewer suggested - if you are within 100 km of this place, and have a car, do stay here.
Two brothers built this inn out of the crumbled foundation of an old ruin. They used antique stone, wood and iron materials that they researched, repurposed, refitted, carved and loving placed for our enjoyment. The quality of the construction, designed to be historically relevant, was amazing. In the process of collecting materials and furnishings for the construction and outfitting of this pousada, they had enough extra to open a 2-storey antique store.
Now for our rooms and the meals, because this is the important information that will help you make your decision to go here:
#1 - plan to have dinner here. We had considered dining in Astorga because some small inns don't serve dinner, but we decided to check-in first, and hoped to find a casual meal in the village. To our great delight, Posada Real Hostereria Camino offers gourmet cuisine that has been Michelin rated for 3 years. For greater selection from their extensive menu, call ahead so they have time to source ingredients. We did not, and therefore chose from 3 entrees. Whatever you choose, be sure to include sautéed mushrooms that are a specialty of the region and the house. Our party of 4 shared a beautifully presented mixed salad, baked cod, grilled lamb chops, delicious desserts, and a bottle of local wine. All of it wonderful, served in a lovely dining room filled with antiques, and we felt that the price was very reasonable for such an excellent meal.
#2 - we stayed in the Orion room, our friends were in Osa Mayor, the larger room at the front. Both were spacious, finished with pride (my husband is a builder and was so impressed), beautifully decorated and the beds, very comfortable. The bathrooms have modern fittings, but still retain an old world feeling with the old wood-framed windows made private with linen and lace, and fitted with with cast iron latches. There was meticulous attention to detail everywhere that you looked.
#3 - breakfast in the sunny cafe is included in your room price - toasted home-made bread, jams, whole fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice and your choice of coffee or tea.
#4 - Rueben and his brother are so friendly and welcoming!!
Sorry for writing a 'book', but this place was special enough to warrant extra praise.

My wife and I were ready to move into this wonderful gem. We were into our sixth night on the Camino- lite program and were fortunate enough to have been booked here by our tour agency, Country Walkers. What a profoundly wonderful experience. The service(Rueben), the food, the wine selections, and our room (Orsini Major) were all off the charts. It's beautiful country, so if you're within 100 kilometers of this place- go there!

On a map of northern Spain the tiny village of Luyego de Somoza can be found southwest of Astorga and off the main Camino Frances but seeking it out is worth the effort. In a seemingly centuries old building, the two brothers who run this Hosteria have completely restored and modernized it (light switches, bathrooms, etc.) without losing it's idyllic charm. There is no lift, but they are willing assist getting any luggage up the stairs. We were on the second floor and there was a spot where the floor creaked a lot, but as there were no sleeping rooms below, I doubt we disturbed anyone's sleep.
The attached restaurant is charming and serves excellent food. There does not appear to be many other dinning options within the village. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. A number of the antiques in the hotel are for sale.

We were supposed to be spending one night here but when we arrived found that the manager, in a spirit of helpfulness, had swapped our ground floor room for a second floor one so we would be away from the noise of a wedding that was going on, forgetting that we had booked a ground floor room because I have poor mobility. He was most apologetic and rang a couple of other places and got us booked in elsewhere at a charming place that was much quieter than this place would have been, even on the second floor!

This is a gem of a hotel and one you should have no hesitation in visiting. From the outside it is a beautiful stone building - inside is even better. The interior has been exceptionally designed to produce a simply breath taking hotel. Each room - the bar, the dining room, the courtyard, the bedrooms are decorated to a high standard. Couple this with a warm and incredibly friendly welcome from Ruben and tasty home cooked food you would struggle to find better! It is up there as one of the best places we have ever visited. Well worth the visit? You bet it is - you will not be disappointed!

You will have read all of the five star reviews of the Hosteria and I have to say that they are all absolutely correct. It is set in the lovely Maragato village of Luyego, an enjoyable drive through the country to find and is itself an absolute gem of a place to stay. Each room is quite individual in character, decorated in a sumptuous and interesting style. Our room (Casiopaea) was very comfortable indeed and a delight to stay in. (You should be aware that this is a renovated old building so access to the roomes is by staircase only - there are no elevators.)
The building as a whole is quite lovely and the service and friendliness of Ruben was exceptional. He spoke with us in Spanish, at our request, and was both very friendly and patient at all times, as well as being informative about the major towns and cities nearby. He also made a great gin and tonic!
One area where we failed to do the hosteria justce was in its restaurant, which we never used as we don't generally eat a large dinner. Judging by the standards of the breakfasts that we had, it must be magnificent. These breakfasts were straightforward and relatively simple but cooked with such care and precision that they were truly a delight to eat.
It is also really great value for money. Trust me, if you are holidaying in the area, this hosteria is the place to stay. We would love to return some day.

Siento no poder confirmarte tu pregunta. Saludos.
