Nestled between lush jungle and pristine beaches, Railay Bay Resort & Spa is applauded for its prime location and harmonious blend of nature with luxury. Spacious rooms, some boasting private pools, are a hit among guests, although there are calls for renovations and improved cleanliness. While the beautiful beaches and amenities receive praise, the food quality and dated facilities attract some criticism.
Service quality receives mixed reviews, with staff friendliness noted, but cleanliness and attentiveness sometimes lacking. Guests are divided on value, with some questioning the cost of food and beverages.

Detailed Reviews
The main highlight of this resort is its location and the villas.
Being on my own travelling, the villas were an extremely pleasant, peaceful and safe place to spend the rest of the evening after watching the sunset on the beach.
Had I not booked one of the villas, I think my experience would not have been so relaxing, and relaxing and peaceful it certainly was.
The proximity to the beach was also very good.
The hotel let’s itself down slightly by having staff which, on the whole, don’t go overboard to help you; perhaps this is the difference between a 4 star rating and a 5 star rating.
The service at the pool bar was so pitifully slow I eventually gave up buying drinks there as it appeared to be quicker to walk to the convenience store down the road. This was pretty disappointing.
What irritated me further was the propensity to ‘reserve’ sun beds for an entire day by leaving small items such as hats etc on beds for hours at a time...you would therefore have beds empty but covered with towels etc and maybe a baseball cap, without a person to be seen for hours....this is policed in other resorts.
One of the worst things about this place, directly contrary to the quality of the villas, was the breakfast-very ‘Muslim’ orientated, which is completely at odds with its clientele and the range of food they serve at other hotels in Krabi.
Additionally, things like cappuccino etc would be an additional cost ?!
The simple message here is-come here for the villas and location, but don’t expect a 5 star banquet at breakfast or lightning service at the pool bar. Save your time and money and go to the convenience store.

We stayed at the resort for four days and specifically chose this spot for its location and let me tell you.. I'm 11/10 glad we did. I'd read the reviews and was worried before we arrived but myself and my partner had made the decision to stay somewhere cheaper in the middle of our holiday to splurge on Phi Phi Island which is what we did and what lead us to Railay Beach. So.
I guess reading the reviews I was prepared for the worst, and because of that I was actually pleasantly suprised.
We had a privacy villa for our stay and though yes, the rooms are a bit dated or worn in places, the bones of them are excellent. We loved the inside/outside bathroom not including the wildlife visits.. the room though basic was all we needed and pretty massive for what we paid for. We loved having our own little garden complete with pond and sun lounges, jacuzzi and visits from the local monkeys.
There was some renovating going on across the resort so I'd be interested to see what it looks like in a year or so!
The reception service also isn't exactly 5 star but it IS great for what you pay for. I think the staff are so busy and so used to dealing with people who don't really take the time to be polite or understanding that when you do, they really appreciate it. I'd read horrible reviews about the breakfast but it was great as far as we were concerned! Beyond that.. it was perhaps the best breakfast view I've ever had. Which leads me to the #1 draw card of this place. The location.
Beyond anything else, Railay Beach is EXCEPTIONAL. Like.. take your expectations of what you think it's going to be like.. multiply them and it's still better. The boats in and out take some working out but once you understand it the system is really sensible and easy to manoeuvre. And the beach, you guys.. ugh the beach. The sunsets are just.. wild and you'll sit and watch them on the sand with absolute reverence. The landscape is so beautiful that you could be sleeping in a straw hut and it wouldn't matter. Make sure you check out the bars, shops etc on Railay although expect that you'll pay more than you need to. My suggestion is to go to Krabi town and buy a bunch of supplies, download the Grab app for transport and bring snacks and things back to the island with you.
I will absolutely go back to Railay and I'd have no hesitation in staying at this resort again. Location is everything and I was pleasantly suprised by what the resort had to offer. Go in with low expectations and you'll be as mind blown as I was.

The location is great as the beach in front the resort hosts beautiful limestone formations.
The breakfast was good with ample of options. On our request the chef also prepared vegetarian food which was such a nice gesture. But do not expect great services. Twice at the breakfast it happened with us that the staff with whom we put any request just vanished without fulfilling the order so we had to ask the other one which was so annoying. We had dinner as well in here which was delicious and nicely plated. Though the quantity of rice served was less.
The rooms were so big and had balconies. There were cats everywhere in the property. Two of the cats used to sleep in front of our rooms and our kids enjoyed that.
There is a clinic as well in the resort.

We have decided to spend this year , an early summer holiday inThailand . We have read a lot of reviews about hotels , and after a long search , we decided for the "Rallay Bay Resort & Spa " in Ao Nang , Krabi . The hotel has a great lokation , it has a line of vilias with ground and first floor with balconies , and several lines of cottages with terraces . Some of the cottages have also private pools . The hotel has two beautiful pools , one near the villas and one near the beach , with a nice pool bar .
The restaurant is near the beach , it has a nice terrace where you can have your meals , and in the evening thre are nice lamps and candels on the tables .
Our rooms were in cottages , The rooms are spatious with modern furniture , kept very clean by the emploies of the hotel . The sheets were chainged twice in seven days , the towels every day , and cleaning was also made every day .
The beach is beautiful , with golden sand , with nice carved rocks on both sides , palmtrees . The watter is excellent , very good for families with small children , because it gets deaper very slowly .
From the beach on the west side , you can make trips with long tail boats or rapid boats , to a lot of destinations , we made a beautiful one to the "for islands ".
The seven days have passed so quickly , everithing was great, we had a great holiday , and for all of you , readers of this review , a tip , do not miss the " Rallay Bay Resort & Spa " , in Ao Nang , Krabi , Thailand .

Upon check-in, the room was ready on time. I was taken to my room at almost the far end of the property from the beach, not exactly convenient and actually was closer to walk to East Railay Beach than West Railay Beach.
I stayed in the one bedroom cottage with spa bath. First observation was the room is a comfortable size. However, the 1 bedroom cottage with spa bath is listed on booking.com to be 90m2. That would be accurate if you included all of the outside patio and the room and bathroom. The room is more like 40m2.
The room was booked with a queen bed but it is actually two twin beds put together.
The bathroom has a foul odor. It smells like a public restroom, similar to something you would find at a public swimming pool. Of note, for women, the bathroom amenities does not include conditioner, just shampoo.
The spa on the patio is old and could use an update. It is also quoted by the bell hop to fill up in 30 min, but took more like 60 min.
As far as location, this property is located right on West Railay Beach, which is beautiful but the view is somewhat ruined by the crowds on the beach. The swimming pool is also very crowded, smaller than appears in photos and almost impossible to find a chair.
The breakfast (included in my room) had a decent selection and was convenient before starting the day.
The hotel does offer activities at their tourism counter in the reception area. Take note, however, they are priced higher than other tourist booths in Railay. For example, to hire a private longtail boat for 6 hours for a 4 island tour is 4500 THB ($148 USD) at the hotel. It ranges about 2900 THB ($95 USD) through other agencies in Railay so it is better to shop around if you have time.
Lastly, the customer service needs significant improvement. The staff is unfriendly and seem annoyed and uninterested to help with any concerns or questions.

The previous posts have said it all. Great location, great luggage service, very nice rooms (we stayed in cottage suites near East Railay beach), friendly staff, definitely avoid eating at the restaurant and walk a few steps to get good local food. I’m adding a couple of pictures that may be useful for others.
1-resort map. Seems impossible to find online or at the resort otherwise.
2-area map. I circled where to go for food and souvenirs. Sort of a “downtown” for Railay Beach.

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of January. I was concerned about the mixed reviews but cannot understand why anyone would give the hotel a bad review! We arranged a private transfer with the hotel from Krabi airport . Whilst 1500baht seems expensive , it really was worth it. We were met at the arrivals area and taken to a luxury taxi which transferred us to the port (approx 30mins). We then boarded a longboat to Railay Beach (15mins). A buggy was waiting for us to take us to reception. Our luggage was taken care of throughout the transfer.
Reception : the staff were very welcoming and friendly and spoke very good English
Rooms. We stayed in a 1st floor deluxe room which was huge, had a lovely balcony, and was very clean. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and water replenished daily. There are tea/coffee facilities in room plus hairdryer and a good selection of toiletries .
Breakfast was really good - serving delicious Asian food as well as western. The restaurant looks over beautiful Railay beach.
There are 2 pool areas but we only used the one on the beachfront. It was clean and a really nice area although they could do with more sun-beds as they were all taken by 9am!
We ate in the restaurant one night, staff were great. Whilst food was not the best available in Railay, it was nice! And only slightly more expensive than ‘walking street’.
We loved this resort and will definitely return!

First impressions. Reception staff super! Room.. lovely!
However! We walked down to the pool/beach bar to have a G&T while the sun went down, the bar was empty when we arrived, but the two bar staff seemed rather preoccupied.... we sat for 10 minutes being totally ignored, intending to have a drink and eat in the resort restaurant, other guests joined us at the bar, also ignored for a further 5 minutes! The sun was setting so we gave up, left and ate elsewhere.
The bar staff did not improve much at the pool bar, and did not seem to understand that people would like to sit with a drink to watch the sun go down? We ate in the resort restaurant, only once as unlike breakfast, the food was not great and compared to so many other places in resort, rather expensive, even with the guest discount.
The best two things about this resort, are 1. The accommodation, it was spacious, clean and just perfect to sit outside listening to the frogs in our pond, the Jacuzzi bath outside was a nice touch too. 2. The ability to sit on a sunbed, by the pool, overlooking Railay West Beach, no other resort seemed to offer this. We did need to get to the pool pretty sharpish to get beds, as there were limited numbers.
If I was able, the resort would get 3.5, it is a shame the bar staff, who are so front of house, let the experience down and pity that the restaurant not live up to the included breakfast.
To Summarise-Great clean accommodation, great location, lovely reception staff and good breakfast.

We got a cottage for 3, good room but lights up early because of the sunshine in the restroom. Pool towels available only after 9 am (important if you have a boat ride scheduled before that). The worst part for us was the restaurant - we waited TWO HOURS for a cheese pizza. After one hour, they offered us free fries but still took one more hour to serve a cheese pizza. Ridiculous!!!

I've been there with my family, we were in 6 person and we took 3 bungalow. We have been near the pool halfway from the 2 coasts of Railay, perfect position for choosing where to go, on Railay west or on Phra Nang Beach, to the view point and the lagoon. Also it is not to close to the beach, so it is very quiet. Just remember (like is written everywhere) to close the door all the time, monkey families are always in search of food, we have been witnesses to one macaque that opened the room over ours and stole a bag of chips. The rooms are clean and beautiful, receptionist are always available and friendly, very good breakfast, in the fabolous restaurant on the beach.

We can highly recommend Railay Bay Resort & Spa, since We have stayed here two times and Will go back in November! Motigt the hotel What time you will arrive at the pier outside Krabi - and they Will have a longtail boat taking you to the hotel Beach. (They have their own waiting lounge/Office at the pier.) The real Night Market is in Krabi Town on the mainland. But there are lots of shops in Railay village. Have a great stay!
I took the first boat at 8am.
And that didn’t leave at exactly 8am.
If you booked your fishing trip through an agent, they might be able to advise you.
Or you can try to get a boat early. Just walk to the Pier and chat with one of the guys. The boats are poorly lit when it’s dark, but they might go. Sun rises around 6:30.
It’s only a 20 minute to Ao Nang, however it all depends where you need to be. They don’t drop you off in the center of Ao Nang near Ao Nang beaches and Main Street. Find out from where you leave for your fishing trip and mark it on a map to show to the guys at the Pier in Ralay Beach. Enjoy your time in Thailand!
