Check in was great but Holy cow the rules! Once checked in guests are not permitted to use the front door, if traveling with a pet it's 25.00 for each pet (same as if it were extra people and this is not a refundable deposit on inspection of room) they want in your room prior to leaving to inspect for damages.
All dog waste must be taken to dumpster (if your 6 foot you can reach it!!) When we arrived there were bags of dog waste to the left of the side entrance. So if you are traveling with pets that you do a quick inspection first prior to entering your room. ?(some pet owners are not responsible which makes it hard on those of us who are.) Just cover your bases.
Bring your own hand soap as it's not supplied in the room.
Rooms are clean and the restaurant isn't open due to staff shortages.

This hotel is tough to rate. Had a nice reception, and I liked how the hotel is within walking distance to local bars (13 min) but the rule against going to the main reception was just odd. Why?

Families also won't appreciate the loto machines by the main reception.

The restaurant also was closed (maybe as we travelled jn off season), which is too bad as there aren't many restaurants in the town.

So nothing horrible but still...

Really nice people at front nice. They provided useful information about restaurants. Room was clean and beds confortable. The small fridge was working well. In a quiet area, near a walking path. We would definitely return. Good quality/price.

Our family booked 10 rooms on short notice just a few days ago. We were in Bay Roberts because our mother had passed away and we needed a place to stay during the wake and funeral. We were charged the peak season rate of $130. The restaurant was closed and no means even to get coffee. When we arrived the rooms were freezing cold. I asked at check-in if an hour extension at checkout was possible due to the timing of the funeral. Was told an hour extension would cost an extra $25. The hotel was empty except for myself and family,

I will never stay there again. Hopefully they (The owner) will go bankrupt soon and a new owner with some business acumen will turn it into a real business.

Very disappointed in this hotel and staff. Never in my life have I ever been more insulted than I was with the management of this hotel......Was accused of smoking in our room which was a completely fabricated story. Myself and my husband are not stupid enough to smoke in a hotel room we are not children and we have worked in hotels for many years, so we would NEVER smoke in a room. When we approached staff regarding this we were treated very rudely. We were accused of lying and the hotel is trying to charge us $100 for smoking in the room. We were not given professional courtesy to inquire about the suspected smoking in our room instead the manager laughed at both myself and my husband when we approached her about the situation. DISGUSTING and Unbelieveable. So i guess the hotel will treat their guests with discrimation and take the cleaning staff word that they smelled smoke, and then laugh at anyone who trys to defend the false accusations. When we checked out we asked the manager to come to the room and show us that it smelled like smoke, she laughed and refused and said she would do this in "her own time". She said this beacuse she knew this was a fabricated story and they were just bitter. The hotel was upset their was a food festival on that weekend in the town and felt it was taking business from there restaurant, meanwhile the food festival filled every room in that hotel for the weekend which otherwise they would have not had a full hotel. Never stay here unless you enjoy being discrimated against & laughed at when trying to defend false accusations, rooms are very stale, outdated, and staff have no respect for their guests. OUTRAGEOUSLY APPALING MANAGEMENT !!!!!

We are all familiar with the old adage "the customer is always right." There is some considerable wisdom in this and service providers would do well to be alert and learn from their customers. But occasionally there is an exception to this rule and your rude and obnoxious comments personify this exception Your husband's atrocious behaviour and bad language in front of our staff was inexcusable and will not soon be forgotten. It was clear to us and a number of witnesses, including other guests, that you & your husband ignored the rules of our hotel and that, further, your husband's youthful intemperance simply got the best of him. Whatever skills and success you and your husband develop in this life will only be of value to you with a concomitant respect for the basic rights of others. We sincerely wish you good luck in this task. Robert Rowe M.A., M. Phil. Chairperson, The Rowe Group Bay Roberts Hotel

Me and my boyfriend decided to have a weekend away last minute. So we looked up hotels in the bay Roberts area and found this hotel. Looked nice in pictures and when we first arrived it seemed nice and clean and I thought lived up to my expectations.. We checked in and got a room on the second floor. We entered our room and it all started.. I had to plug in everything in the room, the cable didn't kick in until 10 mins into our stay. When it comes to cleanliness the bathroom door is covered in what looks like dirty water stains running down the door..there stuff crusted into the counter. The bed sheets are pretty clean but smells very strongly of detergent and I'm very sensitive and can't stand strong smells when I sleep or on my skin. Also there are no conditioner, makeup wipes, the soap was broken, the face cloth had a hair on it that isint mine or my boyfriends.. And the beds aren't comfy. I will not be staying here again unless I really really have no other choice.

I stayed here with a friend not too long ago. We checked in which was easy & fast. It all went down hill from there. We walked in the room and everything looked okay. Pretty standard, nothing fancy. The mini fridge didn't work. Went into the washroom which was small & VERY dirty. There was a dirty towel on the back of the door. We then decided to get a couple glasses of wine at the bar which ended up costing $27 for 2 glasses of standard wine. We headed back to our room to enjoy the wine. We both took a couple sips and realized that the wine was bad, expired, skunky, whatever you want to call it. We couldn't even drink it!! Also, the walls are PAPER thin!!!! Our next door neighbors were being obnoxiously loud ?partying (on a week day). We decided to try and sleep around 1130pm. Not possible-all we could hear was someone getting sick & then around 1am loud snoring. So disappointed in this hotel for over $150 a night this was unacceptable. I would never stay here again and advise anyone that if there's somewhere else to stay in this area-DO IT!

Sarah, I would be disappointed as well with the events that you are noting. These complaints are extremely rare and are taken very seriously by everyone that works here. The staff here are second to none, (a true sense of ownership is held by them), and would want to know when this happened so that we can investigate and ensure it never happens again. Did you report it? When? Were alternatives offered? I would review the incident report if you have the time to let me know personally and I would look forward to duscussing this further with yourself. As a further point over two thousand guests have stayed with us over the summer season without incident, so yes - your stay as stated was regrettably unacceptable. It certainly warrants a closer in depth review as it is not the norm by a longshot. Thank you for taking the time to inform us. I hope to hear from you.

The hotel food was amazing. But as I've been talking about our experience with people it is only hit and miss that you will find this open. Our problem was with the room itself, while quite comfortable, the heater was very noisy and woke us up all night. A wet bar was advertised, there was no wet bar. This is what really floored me. A menu was on the desk as we went in advertising breakfast, with a table beautifully set. When we called down in the morning, we were told they don't servce breakfast, only a brunch on Sunday. But you could get something at Tim Hortons. What!! There was a toaster in the room with a coffee pot, so I'm assuming you should also bring your groceries, if you want to eat. At the rate of the room, it is hardly worth the trouble to go there.

Sorry, I wasn't paying for my room, so I don't know what the rates would be; you will have to contact the hotel for that information.
