We were desperate to get away, but still be close to home after a few strenuous months, and while we usually have use our pop top camper - this time we decided on a cabin so hubby could work on his thesis defence while we were away. A+ decision all round. The Kowhai cabin gave us all plenty of room...

A group of 26 MG Car Club Idle Buggers had the most perfect top down drive to a perfect picnic spot at Manaia/Little River Camp Ground. Sky was bright blue with a tinge of autumn in the trees. Retirement should be about spending timeand simple food with friends in lovely surroundings. Thanks to Marcus for making us feel so welcome.

We stayed here for one night after arriving at Christchurch airport. It was easy to find, only a short trip from the city and yet felt peaceful and relaxing. The owner was great - easy-going and helpful. He immediately made us feel welcome and was on hand to give tips. The site itself is cosy but has many hidden areas...

Awesome place with the best hosts ever, great for the kids and perfect for all ages. Clean, well equiped and friendly! Space was tight with it being holiday weekend but Marcus had pre warned everyone and organised the camp great so it didn't matter and we didn't feel packed in at all. Honestly couldn't fault the place x

Great place this if you don't mind getting back to basics. Three night stay was a highlight of our NZ road trip. Stayed in two of the onsite cabins - clean and well kitted out. How can you not love the "loveshack". Marcus is a gem at looking after people. I really like the way he interacts with his guests....

There is something special about this place. It is in a really beautiful spot, the staff are lovely and the amenities all Eco friendly. I had a wonderful nights sleeps here, the showers were ok and I believe they are getting a revamp. The toilets and kitchen were clean and the area felt really safe.

Marcus and Megan were extremely kind in letting me stay at the campground since it is only a summer campground. The campground is found in the beautiful Okuti Valley, set in 18 acres with several short walks, the Okuti River running through it, native bush, trees and birdlife, "scary slippery slide" and stunning views of the Okuti Valley. This is...

Hard to find but worth the effort. A lovely small campground with the Okuti river running through it. The rocky stream is a great place for kids and adults to cool off. The site is a haven for kids to explore and entertain themselves. Interesting walks through well preserved remnant native bush. Highly recommend this place.

Hi Jenni, Thanks for the positive and informative review of our little camp. We are 'off the beaten track' but in saying this, we are only 5km from Little River village and highway 75. Thanks again and maybe we'll see you again. Cheers again, Marcus Puentener
