If you’re looking to enjoy beach with a nice ocean breeze and none of the chaotic crowds of tourists, Montr Cristi is where you should go and El Cayito is where you should stay. We stayed for 5 nights, and it was perfect. This side of town is definitely where you want to stay - way quieter than on the main drag, but all is still walkable. They have comfy hammocks, immaculately clean grounds, a nice pool, and we couldn’t decide whether to eat on the beach tables/chairs or on the elevated platform overlooking the beach. Breakfast is simple but included, along with coffee. It’s a 2 minute walk down to Galleon Tours (poorly labeled at the corner), which can take you snorkeling and to the mangroves for a lazy float (or scuba, though we didn’t do that). Coco Mar at the corner has good food for pretty cheap. But the best place to go is El Morro beach - just hang there all day. We had many hours there without a single other human. Apparently, there are a few more people on the weekends, but even then it feels deserted. Great body surfing all four times we went, and if you’re tired of lounging, a short walk up the hill gives you two great little trails - one a strenuous hike to the top of El Morro, the other a short easy hike with swings and great views (and 14 stations of the cross). If you’re looking to relax on a gorgeous beach without the crowds, I highly recommend.

I wouldnt say its a Resort, its more like a motel. Rooms are very small but comfy with AC. Hot water in the shower was hit or miss. The food at the restaurant was expensive for the serving size. Very Small portions. We wanted coconuts and they charged $100 pesos for each when normally its $25 pesos or you can just tip the guy for knocking them down. Pool was a bonus.

I stayed last weekend there. I book it a month in advanced through Gustazos (a local website similar to booking.com). When I arrived with my husband they said that they couldn't find our reservation (That should be my first sign/warning of whats to come). After 30 minutes in front of a rude receptionist wannabe, finally took us to our room. The rooms (if you can call them like that) are shipping containers!!!!! Yes 40' shipping containers, each divided into 4 rooms. Each room have one full bed, no phone, 1 20" tv, a small bathroom. One air conditioner unit for 4 rooms and the air controller is located at the first room. The only night I stayed the air conditioner was turned off at 11:00pm. So about 12am I went to reception to complain but for my surprise, after 11:30 their is no employee at the hotel besides the poor old guy that works as a "watchman". So imagine spend the whole night in a closed shipping container when the outside temperature is 30 degrees Celsius ( 86 F). Obviously we couldn't sleep at all! Also cockroaches in the room! In the morning (7:45 am) when the receptionist wannabee arrives at the hotel I went to her and said that I want my money back and that I was leaving. She said that they wont reimburse my money because I dint pay to them and that I should place the complain with them (Gustazos). I said that that site is not responsible for the "room" not having air conditioning that the hotel is! they she said that the manager was not on site and that she was only an employee. So we leave and went to a nearby hotel (Marbella) whom were kindly enough to let us do a very early check in (9:00 am). By the way, that hotel is clean, with a gorgeous view and with rooms that are sea front!. By 10:00 am we got back to el Cayito to speak to the manager. Instead of an apology that guy gave us insults! Yes insults and practically kick us off the hotel. And of course he did not gave our money back!. So AVOID this hotel, their website and info is FALSE. And the pictures are deceiving: 1.- Private beach -> LIE, if what is in front can be called a beach it is certainly NOT private. 2.- Eco-friendly -> Not by any standard. 3.- Spa & wellness centre ->LIE, they don't have anything. 4.- Air conditioning. As other reviewers and I explained before the have One air conditioner for 4 "rooms", mine was turned off at 11:00pm. 5.- Suite, LIE, don't have any. 6.-A sauna, tour desk, and gift shop are on site -> LIE, don't have any of these. 7.- Beach Resort -> Yeah, right. Nor beach and for sure nor a resort. DONT GO THERE. AVOID. Nearby are 2 good options: * Cayo Arena -> All their rooms are 2 bedrooms suites (very nice) but better if you are in a group of 4 or more. * Marbella -> Clean rooms and a expectacular view from the room and other parts of the hotel of the ocean.

Worse experience in a Hotel Ever!.Their info & pictures are misleading. “Rooms” are 40’ shipping containers divided into 4 “rooms”. Also dirty (2 cockroaches in mine).Rude personnel. AVOID @ all cost!

This hotel's advertisement states they have a full-service spa, fitness center, rooftop terrace, air conditioning. Upon check in, we were told they do not have a spa, they do not have a fitness center, the rooftop terrace was nowhere in sight and the A/C system did not work. The receptionist was not friendly, helpful or service-oriented. I have traveled to many locations in the Dominican Republic and certainly don't expect luxurious accomodations in the many small towns and villages of the country. But the other hotels/B&Bs don't outright lie about their offerings like Hotel El Cayito Beach. Avoid this one!
