This is a review of the garden and not the hotel. The shop area was full of interesting objet d'art and we decided to have lunch in the little cafe and as we had a dog we sat outside where we were greeted my ducks and chickens! The food was all homemade and absolutely delicious and the service was superb...

Lovely place to stay, very relaxed and welcoming. The gardens are stunning and beautifully maintained, with the added bonus of King John's Nursery next door which serves a great lunch! We will definitely be back, thank you very much!!

If you love gardens, this is the place for you as there are numerous gardens to visit nearby and the garden at King John's Lodge is also very attractive. As well as this, the owner's son runs an excellent, small and interesting plant nursery next door. The house has many interesting and attractive features. Our host was very friendly and...

I can confirm some of the comments from previous reviewers. The welcome was cold ("Oh, the B&Bers are here" in a rather rude tone) and we immediately felt that we were intruding on the family. The owners family were also staying (children and grandchildren) and she was primarily engaged with them during our stay. Whilst we usually don't have problems...

I am sad to be giving St John's Lodge a poor review as undoubtedly the house and garden have huge charm and we were excited at the prospect of staying here. But, there were problems some of which may be worth mentioning. The owners possibly lacked judgement in taking bookings at a time when many family members were visiting with...

Stayed here with a family group. It is a truly amazing place - the building, the gardens and the history inside. You feel you are living history when you stay here - the fireplace in one of the back rooms is particularly impressive - as is the list of those who have stayed before. We had dinner and that was...

Difficult to write this review and I certainly don't want to put people off from staying here. It is an experience that you should have. Especially when the flowers are in bloom. I stayed with my family, travelling down to see cousins at their farm house near by. It was the closest place to stay and the owner knew my...

We didn't stay at the B&B - just visited and gardens and nursery. It's an enchanting garden, off the beaten track - lots of folk haven't heard of this place. The chap who runs the business was really pleasant and interested in our questions about the place. Excellent shop too. Tip - it's a full two miles from the signpost...

Everything was perfect from the service to the room. We were made to feel so welcome and we were truly sad to leave. Breakfast was perfect and the building and grounds are stunning. Cannot understand why they got that bad review but there will always be someone that cant be pleased. Bottom line we loved it and cant wait to...

We stayed at King John's Lodge and were blown away by the place. It has an amazing garden and is set in such a beautiful setting. Room was really big and bed comfortable. Would recommend this place to everyone which is why I am writing the review. Jill, the owner, was really accommodating and we liked it so much we...
