Came here again for post Christmas get together with friends, probably the tenth year in a row. First time we've been in the main restaurant, always had a private room before. This is a very traditional hotel and restaurant, pitching itself in the upper mid market. Service was attentive and efficient and the ambience of the dining area we were...

When we arrived it appeared that they had misunderstood my friends request for 9 for afternoon tea on booking. No kids option so she didn't book the actual tea for them although stating they were coming. Not a massive issue on our side but the waitress was so rude and aggressive about how they couldn't do more! Unfortunately, the kitchen...

Excellent New Years eve experience. Amazing food and entertainment including a live singer. Beautiful traditional hotel room, and a great breakfast, with all the choice you would ever want in the morning. Will be back again soon, and would recommend to anyone.

Hubby and I needed a break from the onslaught of Christmas - Just needed a bit of a treat really. Booked after being recommended by friends of ours. Parking is plentiful (very important) Entrance to the hotel is very welcoming, and staff greet you in a friendly but professional manner. We had booked a table in the main restaurant but...

Went for company Christmas dinner, service was very good but sadly let down by the quality of the food. Had the roast turkey which was pretty average, roast potatoes were particularly terrible. Second time had disappointing food here so not just a one off.

The staff were welcoming and helpful although we had arrived very early to change for a wedding. Our overnight stay was very comfortable and the hearty breakfast in the morning was excellent. Would stay again if in the area and recommend to others.

Visited last Sunday after a long walk around the chess valley. We ate in the bar area near a lovely open fire. I couldn't fault the service & the food was excellent, I would highly recommended this lovely hotel/restaurant/pub.

As we got here an hour early for a relatives birthday meal, I ordered a coffee for myself, a tea for my wife and pineapple juice for our son. I could not believe being charged £8.35 for a tiny cup of poor quality coffee, my wife's tea and son's juice! Disgraceful! I'd hate to think how much was being paid...

Reviews seen prior to our 3 day stay say that this hotel is superb...well maybe but I didn't see this "super B" ...just a very good 3 star hotel with a some good points and some not so good. Essentially we booked a three day stay for the simple reason we wanted a dog friendly hotel close to our main...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bedford Arms Hotel is situated in the village of Chenies. The Village was known as Isenhampstead until the middle of the 13th century, when it became known as Chenies from the Cheyne family who occupied the Manor until the 16th century. The hotel building dates for the most part from 1842. It was converted from a house to a hotel in the 1930's and was a small eating house and bar rather than a hotel. In 1957 the restaurant was moved to it's current position. The hotel was frequently used by the Russel family who later acquired Woburn Abbey. There are eighteen bedrooms, ten of which are individually designed and decorated in a traditional style and eight new contemporary designed bedrooms. There are two four-poster suites one with a Jacuzzi, sixteen double bedrooms including one purpose built disabled bedroom. Twin and family rooms and also a cot is available on request. The majority of bedrooms have wonderful views of either the hotel gardens or the Chiltern countryside.Room Service is available during breakfast, lunchtime and dinner. ... more   less
