We had a three night mid week stay at this beautiful hotel. The most important part of a hotel is the staff and this hotel is very lucky to have such a friendly, welcoming and helpful team. Special thanks to Katie who organized a room change (we should have mentioned when we booked that my husband is less able bodied and needed a shower rather than a bath). Due to the age of the building the rooms are quirky but very clean and beautifully appointed with quality linen and refreshments, (the chocolate brownies were decadent) and toiletries Must mention the breakfast as the varied choice and quality was excellent as was the service and attention to detail. All in all, a very good stay and can highly recommend.

We stayed at the Queens inn for one night as a birthday get away for my husband and I. On arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a complimentary drink as it was my husband’s birthday. Lovely touch! Then we were shown to our room (number five) which features the bath (big enough for two!) in the bedroom. Beautiful room with a huge queen size bed and gorgeous furniture and decor. We relaxed in the cosy bar for the afternoon before later enjoying dinner in the restaurant. Sumptuous rump steak with thrice cooked chips followed by a delectable dessert and all with wonderful service, we were made to feel special and they even presented my husband with a special birthday dessert! The following morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, both cooked and continental. It all made for a real treat. Thank you to all the staff at the Queens inn. I will definitely be recommending you.

Our temperature was checked when we arrived, our contact details taken and there were sanitisers around the bar.
Good quality linen in a reasonably comfy bed. Lovely touches in the room - ground coffee, fresh milk and brownies. Fresh water delivered to the room every evening.
Every amenity; hair dryer, sockets by the bed, robes, mirror by plug and fan, which my room needed because it was quite warm.
The room was a little tired with scuffed wall paper and cracked bathroom tiles, but it was very clean.
The food was good, breakfast in particular and the service extremely friendly. The only negative was the server at breakfast, albeit very friendly, could have been more attentive. Cutlery and plates were missing.
The bar and restaurant areas lacked atmosphere but I don’t think this was their fault. Obviously due to COVID rooms were closed off, the areas stripped of niceties e.g. flowers and the lack of customers made for quite a sterile environment. I would go back though.

Pretty shocked to receive a call the night before we drove from Scotland to say they’d only just bothered to read the notes on our booking from a month prior and seen we’d requested kids beds in our room for our two and four year olds. The rude woman that phoned told us they were cancelling our booking as they don’t allow children and as they were fully booked we’d have to find alternative accommodation. Disgusting way to carry on less than 24 hours before arrival especially with our two young children in tow. If I’d cancelled in this time frame they’d have charged me, but the other way round, I’ve just got to accept it? If this is how they treat customers before they even arrive, it’s most likely a good thing we never stepped foot in the establishment. I’m sure the unfamily friendliness would have repeated throughout our stay. We found a proper hotel down the road who were more than happy to accommodate our entire family in a room with spare beds and at short notice. Won’t be booking here again, work on your customer service and the no children policy is a bit 16th Century.

Response from 411sharonr, Owner at The Queen's Inn
Responded Jan 31, 2020
Dear Simon, Thank you for your review, however there are some points we would like to address as we believe some of the comments are very unfair and do not remotely reflect our values for customer service. Your statement expressing that after a whole month of booking we had only just ‘ bothered to read the notes’ regarding extra beds ‘the night before’ is very much incorrect as my colleague Katie sent you a message very promptly (just 18 hours after you booked) stating the following: “Dear Simon, Thank you for your enquiry with us, we do have fold out beds for children however in the room you have booked it does only accommodate 2 adults as there is no extra space for another bed. Normally we would suggest to upgrade to a Family Room if you would like to accommodate an extra child however both our Family Rooms are already fully booked for the night of Saturday 1st. Would you like to keep to your original booking for just two adults in a standard room? Kindest regards, Katie” As your initial enquiry asked whether ‘camp beds or fold up beds for children’ were ‘possible’ on Booking.com’s messaging service, it is not unreasonable to believe that you would look on the messaging service you sent your original message to in retrieving your answer to the question posed. You will also have been notified by our response via email just in case you were not frequently checking the messaging service on Booking.com. The ‘rude woman’ on the phone was in fact myself and it is clear that due to the situation being a stressful one for you and your family, your impatient behaviour towards me is something that was very much undue and not deserved when evidence of how the error came about did not fall with myself nor one my colleagues. It is, above all, a shame that the message was not addressed by yourself initially as we do in fact take great care of all our guests, especially families which is reflected in nearly all of our reviews. We do welcome families often, hence our two Family Rooms, therefore we’re not quite sure where you have found our supposed ‘no child policy’ when it clearly states on your booking that ‘all children are welcome’ and even that ‘there is no capacity for extra beds in this room’. It is unfortunate that you were so quick to write this unfair review for our incredibly welcoming and family-friendly inn without experiencing it for yourself, we just hope next time we can help you select the correct room for you and your party. Kind regards, Bryce Burger General Manager

We returned to this lovely old pub to meet a dear friend with MS who lives in a nearby residential care home. He has a motorised wheelchair with one of the staff accompanying him to the pub door. I have bemoaned the lack of robust boards to enable the wheelchair to navigate not one but two high steps so it was gratifying to hear that the special access ramp had been ordered but not yet delivered.
Full praise to the pub staff who assisted travel to our table, produced copious napkins and wipes, removed his winter coat and generally made him very welcome. Well done The Queens Inn team from the kitchen, the bar and waiters.
I was agreeably pleased that there had been changes to the menu and although two of our party again opted for the excellent fish and chips (£17.50) and one for the crispy breaded chicken pieces and salad (£16.50), I went off piste with the braised lamb shank, creamed mash and cavolo nero cabbage (£23.50). The meat was beautifully tender and just dropped off the bone, the flavour was delicious. I could not resist a naughty bowl of fried onion rings £(4.00) and these were crunchy and added well to the main course.
We all had three scoops of ice cream with vanilla, honeycomb and chocolate mint being favoured.
Total bill with 15% service was £140.00
I must finish by again thanking all the staff for their kindness with our special guest

We recently booked a table for a cousin's reunion. And some of us also booked a room.
Lovely old building which was very clean and tidy. The service was first rate from the point of booking until leaving.
Excellent food and no rush. We were lucky with the weather and were able to use the outside space.
Katie provided excellent personal service. Thank you Katie.
The rooms were individually decorated and furnished. Lovely touches included freshly ground coffee, bottled water and fresh milk in a flask. In the morning we received a fresh bottle of milk left outside our room.
The breakfast was freshly prepared and there was a good choice.
I would highly recommend this gem of an Inn.

We had a 2 night stay here recently with Canadian friends who were on a short UK stopover to visit nearby Sissinghurst. We wanted them to enjoy staying in a traditional English hotel (not a chain) and chose The Queen's Inn on their behalf, despite having never stayed there ourselves before. Our initial worries that we might have made a disappointing choice turned out to be completely unfounded - our rooms were clean and comfortable, with contemporary decoration but still retaining the charm of an old, historical building, and the bathroom facilities were modern and spotless. We slept well in comfy king size beds and heard no late noise from the downstairs bar whatsoever. A lovely touch was having a little bottle of fresh milk left at our door for an early morning cuppa and the brownies supplied with the hospitality tray were delicious. Breakfast was included in the room rate, with waitress service (not a breakfast buffet) and plenty of options as well as the "full English". Undoubtedly the staff are a huge asset to this establishment - unfailingly cheerful, chatty and helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend The Queen's Inn to others visiting the area.

I can only echo what a previous couple said. This was an anniversary treat and we loved everything about our stay.

Due to an emergency we moved our booking to another day but the extremely accommodating staff allowed us to move our booking to our original date.

I cannot fault anything about our overnight stay

Lovely hotel with excellent food. The staff are extremely welcoming and thoughtful at every stage of your stay. They are very professional yet warm and offer a level of customer service that is as good as any we’ve experienced in UK hospitality. We had a meal on the first night really enjoyable and the service was excellent. The brownies are a real treat in the room and they bring you fresh milk and water in the room each day. The bed was very comfortable and the toiletries was really nice touch in the room. Brilliant stay and would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the local area with the friendliest of staff you could every hope for.

Went here for valentines night with my partner.
The room was prepared in a lovely style with rose petals on the bed. The restaurant was relaxed and chilled with a lovely vibe. The French waiter was brilliant and kept everyone smiling.
I had steak and my partner had fish and chips. Neither is us could finish our meal it was that satisfying. The steak cooked to perfection and the thrice cooked fries, vine tomatoes, mushroom and garlic were perfect.
The room was large, with a really nice feel to it. The bed was a queen size which being six foot I could lay across it if I wished...... Huge and very comfortable as were the pillows. The only downside was that it was really windy and being an old building, there were a few creaks and groans from the timbers in the night. Nothing I found concerning though.
Breakfast included was large and very tasty with a good selection of side dishes also.
Would I stay again? Hell yes. One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and how to be returning soon
