I have stayed her twice now and I have only good to say about it. We stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom apartment. Two adult 3 children and a baby. Everything you need is there even down to dishwasher tablets and washing machine tablets. The only concern I have is the temperature on the hot water. I felt it was dangerous especially with children turning the tap on to wash their hand, was a worry. Maybe they could turn this down a bit. Also they said the pool was nice and warm but it was actually freezing. To cold for the children to stay in for too long. Other than this i cannot fault it. Ducks wandering around the kids loved feeding them. The grounds are stunning. Will definatly be coming back again

We turned up after long drive and booked in, questioned them taking £100 pending deposit in case we trashed room, but as we had no intention of doing that agreed it, but strange taste in mouth.
Easy to check in and reception team very friendly given plan of site.
We admired the grand hall with roaring fire so welcoming and impressive.

We made our way to studio 47 and very impressed, big room very well equipped kitchen including fairly liquid in dispenser, dishwasher oven and microwave.
Bathroom was huge with corner bath.
Room itself lots of radiators and big bed, 2 comfy armchairs , dining table and 2 chairs.

Balcony with nice view over grounds. Room was very quiet.

Looking at menu in main building very fair prices but we didnt eat as not enough time but next time we will. Wanted to use leisure facilities that looked great again not enough time and spa treatments seemed great.

We said we needed more time but you could so easily unwind and relax next time if we can do 2-3 days that would be great.

Do we want to go back ? Yes!

Great Hotel with fantastic amenities.
We booked this hotel last minute due to having to change our France holiday this year. The Hotel is set in great grounds, reception staff were outstanding, the lady who checked us in on our first day went out of her way to help, advise on Pubs, restaurants to visit. Our Apartment room 15 was superb, so much space for a family of 4 separate kitchen, living area, the bedroom larger than most sized hotel bedrooms, the bathroom superb. Everything so clean and tidy. Taxis were easy to get. The best company we found being a group of 8 was Mike's Taxis as he had a minibus, Fair prices and very reliable. We found the bar to be very reasonable and unlike most hotels where they charge extortionate rates for drinks this hotel did not. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on this. Check-in I thought was a little late however we got there 1 hour early, and the room was ready. Leisure Centre make sure you book the minute you check in as you only get one hour on the hour and there is limited availability (Due to COVID so may change). The first day we could not get in or the next. So be sure to get up early the day after you check in and book the pool. The Pool again great they even allowed our children to take in a ball and just advised if anyone was lane swimming etc to be aware and stop playing which I thought was very fair. Table Tennis outdoors you just hire the equipment from the leisure centre its free of charge. Places to eat: The Blackhorse-10 minutes away, nice, quite expensive but worth the money. The Plough Inn 10 minutes away good with children and a football pitch is behind the pub, my kids loved this and the food was good. The Boot and Shoe, a lovely back garden with small park, again children loved this. While there we did Go Ape at Grizedale you need to book well in advance we were told if we had not it was fully booked throughout the 6 weeks. 4x4 Experience £90.00 per car superb and my boys 8 & 11 got to drive this was with Graythwaite Adventure. We also convinced our husbands to do Blackpool only 30 minutes away and it made our children’s holiday. Windermere & Kendal visited and again 40 minutes away. Brilliant holiday, if we do this again, we will stay at this Hotel without a doubt. Thanks again.

Less then 24 hours prior to checking in, received a phone call from the location stating that the following hotel amenities were closed
Pool
Gym
Restaurants
Basically all serviceable areas of the venue with exception of the room itself.
After several lengthy phone calls to/from the location totalling 4hours, a resolution or a suitable compensatory alternative was not offered.
Considering this, booking was cancelled as the organisation failed to inform us of the closure with adequate notice, failed to put measures in place regarding the current climate (as other businesses have done) and ultimately failed to rectify the problem.
Extremely disappointing to say the very least!

Stayed for 3 nights in studio , last minute break for my partners Birthday, centrally located for lots of places to walk , close to Lancaster and Preston. Accommodation was immaculate, included large kitchen with full oven , microwave , fridge freezer and dishwasher . Bathroom had large corner bath and again immaculate. Perfect base for a short break, on site we swam twice and went to gym once, booked slots but all available and sanitisers etc all over gym . Ate in restaurant one evening ( an old chapel) the choice of menu and quality of food were fantastic, service superb, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go again and although we went away on an anniversary break, next time will take our children as ideal for them too. Well done Thurnham Hall , under difficult times we had a lovely relaxing break... much needed !

It is rare for expectations to be exceeded to such a high degree and we were thoroughly delighted to find such a great place to stay. We booked a 3 night break staying in a one bedroomed apartment iin the main building. It was spotless, very well equipped for self catering, nicely decorated with beautifully preserved stone walls. The common areas and corridors have lots of interesting historical objects and decoration and it has a lovely calm atmosphere. The resort grounds are very peaceful with lots of trees and seats to enjoy the calm tranquil environment. It is surrounded by fields with cows and there are walks from the hall. There is a bus stop outside the gates of the hall and we took the bus into Lancaster (£4.80 return fare) and enjoyed museums and the castle. The restaurant at the hall was quite small so I would recommend to phone ahead to book if that's important to you. The restaurant area was full but we had a good meal in the beautiful bar area and the staff were friendly and delightful as were all the staff at the property. The restaurant was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the time of our stay but there is a small shop for essentials and I saw a small number of ready meals for sale there.
The swimming pool is large and there is a gym - all spotlessly clean.

My friends experience at Thurnham Hall was nothing but horrendous. My friend is 86yrs of age and this was the first time and the last time staying there. My friend paid £241 for a 2 night stay in a 1 bedroom studio apartment. This unit was situated a good 5min walk from the main house, for a senior citizen this was a hell of a walk through woodland.

If my friend had arrived on her own she would have had great difficulty in getting to the unit with her luggage as she did not have transport to drive to it and she was not offered any assistance by staff.

First impression when we reached the unit was that it was on the 1st floor, this meant climbing approx 16 incredibly steep stairs to the door. This again for an 86yr old proved very difficult. Once at the top of the stairs the Key Card did not function, my husband went back to reception where he was told to go and try it again as it should work(I would have thought a member of staff would have returned with him to try it) Once again the Key Card did not work so my husband contacted reception by phone to let them know, Whilst my husband was on the phone I tried to gain access and this time the Key Card worked. On entering the unit we saw that the bedroom was a mezzanine room with approx 13 steps for access. This also proved difficult for an 86yr old person. The stairs had open backs in them which is illegal. The bathroom was on the ground floor, so if my friend needed to use the facilities during the night she would have had to come down the 13 dangerous stairs. My friend managed to go upstairs to have a look but on her way down, one of her feet went through the back of the stairs and she fell head first down them causing considerable injury to her foot, ankle and knees.

I went to reception to report the accident and asked if she could be moved to a more suitable unit. I was told there was none available as even though guests hadn't arrived they were expected and therefore could not allocate her another unit. I informed reception that if that was the situation my friend could not stay the 2 nights as it was too dangerous for her and she would like a refund, I was told that it wasn't company policy to refund payments. ( Is this a breach of consumer rights ????)This I find absolutely ludicrous. I was so angry by this time I asked for an accident form as I was going to take the matter further and seek legal advice. My friend has left Thurnham Hall, and has not received her money back, so on Monday 27 September 2021 I will be seeking advice. I have taken photos of my friends injuries and of the stairs and the layout of the room.

Booked a night to stop over whilst visiting daughter at Lancaster University, we usually use premier Inn but getting expensive as we now need 2 rooms for the 5 of us.
This was a totally different experience, full kitchen, lounge, dining area, separate bedrooms, fantastic views impressive entrance, lounge fireplace and staircases. And great value. We left wanting to return and feeling we didn't do our stay justice.

Fantastic reception staff told us about the restaurant and after seeing reviews was a little tedious, oh my God I’m so happy that I tried it special à la carte evening on the Thursday night we had plans for Friday but Went back on Saturday had lunch and then dinner.
I really don’t know what people are saying about the restaurant chefs catering northwest.
Freshly cooked food you can tell they don’t buy the food in from a frozen company like most places do.
Really good price for the food and drinks Apartment was exceptional, really clean couldn’t ask for anymore.

The only disappointed thing I had was dinner out one night,
The way some Guests were talking to staff, staff are not around for you to abuse. Staff are human beings as well.

Really think people should treat people with respect if they expect to be treated with respect.

Sorry I go away a lot and I see this too many times.

A very relaxing 2 night stay for myself and my wife. The hotel has a very rural setting with large grounds and as such absolutely no road noise whatsoever. The reception staff we very welcoming and informed. Our apartment was in the main manor house and had many of the features you may expect in such a setting. The bedroom lounge area was huge and comfortably furnished. The apartment had a large bathroom and a kitchen separate from the bedroom/lounge area. The kitchen had every appliance you would need ... including a dishwasher! Only downside to our stay was that the restaurant was closed but we are led to believe this will be resolved in the near future. We would not hesitate to stay again.
