Not only do I usually leave reviews but when there is merit I do it willingly.
I found this hotel by chance when booking at the last moment for a short stay (the reviews were auspicious).
For my tastes and needs it turned out to be a "perfect" hotel.
It is located in Prato alla Drava, a small town in the hamlet of San Candido, the capital which can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car.
Typical South Tyrolean village of 300 souls that looks like a postcard, where order and tranquility reign.
We are less than 1 km from the Austrian border.
I would say the location is excellent: from here by car (or bus/shuttle service) you can reach all the main attractions in the area from Sesto to San Candido to Dobbiaco to Lago di Braies to the 3 Peaks, as well as the main ski lifts.
Historic family-run hotel in the area, which has undergone several renovations and modernizations over the years.
Today is truly a little gem....
Cozy structure, not too large, typically Tyrolean style with lots of wood, ample parking, spacious and clean rooms like I have rarely seen in my life.
Small attentions to eco-sustainability in hotels are truly curious.
The breakfast and dinner catering is also excellent, varied menu, abundant buffet.
I didn't try the wellness area because I was always around but I imagine it's no different than the rest.
What struck me above all was the tranquility that reigns in this hotel... as well as the friendliness of the owners and staff.
The feeling was that the kind Evelyn and the Rainer family really put passion and commitment into their work.
I can only thank and compliment the management.
I will certainly remember you on my next holiday in Val Pusteria.
See you soon !

Thank you for a very pleasent winter holidays - we enjoyed the apartment that was being offered as an alternative option for hotel rooms. The apartment was fully equipped, extremely clean with a beautiful view. The apartments are located next to the hotel, with a one minute walking distance. The whole hotel looks like a very quite and peaceful place, with special attention to all the details. The breakfast was tasty serving fresh and different types of bread, fresh squized juces and all kinds of freshly made eggs for request. The wellness offers looking very new saunas and outside tube. It is very clean and comfortable the only thing that could be added is the possibility to get wet in a cold tank located outside. We enjoyed the Eggele Hotel very much!

Beautiful experience, the first alone as far as I am concerned. In this charming hotel I could spend seven days in perfect quiet and relaxation. The hotel Eggele is complete and perfect for a holiday where you will definitely be at ease, well-kept and spotless rooms, courteous and friendly staff, you will then feel pampered and you will have all the attention you need to enjoy a great holiday! Ah, I forgot, you can enjoy wonderful breakfasts and superb dinners, definitely above your expectations!

Hotel run by a large family led by Evelyn, modern, clean, very kind staff, excellent chefs, heated ski storage, Erman always ready to fulfill all our requests with his shuttle.
The idea of the little bag outside the door to indicate that you didn't need to redo the room is nice, then you find a jar of local jam.
The recipe book given after the final greetings was appreciated.
Very clean and tidy wellness centre, too bad it opens after 4pm, someone who doesn't ski could use it, outdoor Jacuzzi with very hot water.
Erman put up with us by giving us the missing material (skis, poles, boots and helmet).
What can I say, we felt pampered for the entire week spent.
Thanks for everything and we will definitely be back.♥️

Our holiday at the Eggele was fantastically beautiful and incredibly relaxing from the first to the last minute. The loving welcome and pleasant care provided by Evelyn, her family and the entire staff is second to none. The house and rooms are in perfect condition and both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The food is fantastic and our desire to eat gluten-free has always been met. The food was really delicious and varied. The team really reads every wish from the eyes of the guests. The natural pool is an oasis of relaxation and the view of the Haunold incomparably beautiful. You always get valuable excursion tips. The location in the small village of Winnebach is ideal for hiking and cycling in the Dolomites. Regional buses and trains can be used free of charge with the guest card.

From the first minute - pure holiday.

Many thanks to Evelyn and her team for simply fulfilling every wish.
The house, the rooms, the whole complex is in great condition thanks to Herrmann and the new SPA area invites you to linger.
Food and drinks (great wine selection) complete the stay.

Here you can feel passion and attention to detail - we particularly liked the concept of sustainability. We like to come back and advertise a 1a hotel in the Dolomites. Ralf & Bärbel

At Eggele, hospitality is still truly alive. From the warm welcome by the family, to the care during your stay, to the (unfortunately) farewell, you can feel the joy with which visitors are looked after. Beautiful rooms, great food, a very good selection of wines and some pleasant conversations quickly make Eggele a second home where you immediately feel at home. We would love to come back!

The owner-managed hotel (Rainer family) is a place to feel good. The lovingly designed rooms, the spa area with sunbathing lawn and heated natural swimming pond, the sauna and steam bath with relaxation area invite you to relax. The food is excellent.
The lounge is very cozy and stimulating conversations arise with other guests about the day's experiences. The Rainer family is happy to give tips for hiking and biking. Thank you very much and see you next time.

We stayed at this hotel one night at very high prices, very disappointing compared to expectations.
Check in at 2.30pm, and check out at 9.30am, when ever a hotel does not leave guests at least 24 hours in a room.
We chose the Half Inn where drinks at dinner are for an extra fee, coffee and bitters as well, water at the table served on an anonymous bottle that might look like tap water with written on the menu that the cost is 2.30 a bottle with a share to charity (share not declared and of which the consumer is not sure).
After dinner I asked for a chamomile and was given a Pompadour herbal tea (the mountain should serve home made herbal teas).
Spa not working, whirlpool not even, outdoor pond impossible to bathe without water circulation and full of insects.
Breakfast with croissants and packaged pastries and yogurt sterzingher when the menu was written alpine yogurt, hot drinks from the machine and no bar service.
Clean rooms, not comfortable pillows.
Disappointing.

We was 2 couples and stay at the hotel Feb 14 to 18 -2024
Very friendly on arrival
Food we would say average
We drink there every night and also they offered there local snaps
So I guess the business with us was very good
The owner Hermann offered himself to us to go ski with us
We said ok
Than he say that’s 70 Euro per hour
We said ok we go with you but max 2 hours
He said ok
The next day we meet him on the slopes , he did not teach much about skiing but bring us far to the whole area just to make time for him
The slopes he let us ski was by far not suitable to our skills but that was not any concern for him !!
Worst experience for skiing
Additional on check out he insisted that was 3 hours he was with us
So 3x 70 euro
I told him we agreed on 2 hours only !!
He ignored that and said that was 3 hours and we need to pay that
He is the owner , made plenty money with us to stay at his place , eat and drink there but seams the greed is to look for more !!
We started ski with him at 10.10 in the morning and finished ( horrible skiing) at 12.20 pm
That was for the owner already 3 hours and not 2 as we had agreed!!
We would not go back there ever again because of such a greedy owner !!
Thank you but you see us never again !!

Response from Evelyn Rainer, Geschäftsführer at Hotel Eggele
Responded Feb 23, 2024
Evelyn
