Stayed in the beach hideaway which was great. Outdoor bubble bath was very relaxing. Lisa had been very helpful ahead of our arrival and was extremely welcoming when we got there. The chefs dinner by Paul was definitely restaurant quality in the privacy of your own room/deck. Breakfast was tasty and fresh and the in-room snacks a lovely touch. It's...

My husband recently surprised me with an indulgent weekend at Big Blue Backyard and what an indulgence it was! Our friendly host Lisa welcomed us warmly on arrival and showed us around, explaining the retreat concept. We had ordered the in-room dining option for dinner with 5 star meal expertly prepared by Lisa's husband Paul. Wow! It was a total...

Our stay was perfect - Lisa & Paul are polite and warm hosts who personalise everything! Your stay is tailored to you in every way possible, and it's the little details that stand out here. Don't expect a five star hotel with free wifi, this is very much a place to hide from the world and disconnect. There isn't much...

Chrissy, thank you for your review. You said everything that all our future guests should know and in such a great way. We really loved having you and Martin to stay and so admire your determination to explore the whole of Victoria in between working so hard. It was wonderful to watch your tiredness fade replaced by a lovely laid...

Colin it was lovely to have you and Jo to stay. We are thrilled that you enjoy your hideaway and the location of Big Blue Backyard, (even though the stones painted with blue arrows didn't whisk you down the bush path to the beach quicker!) We do look forward to welcoming you back. Best regards Lisa

I've just stayed here for three days to recover from my flight from the UK, and to adjust to Australian time, before starting the work part of my trip. My hideaway was perfect - very comfortable bed, great shower/products, and total peace amongst the bush. Lisa was a discreet and very friendly and helpful presence, and Paul cooks the most...

My husband and I spent three nights and could of stayed another three!! The perfect start to our honeymoon. The attention to detail and room decor (we stayed in the Bush hideaway) was stunning. The breakfasts and chef cooked meal was mouthwatering. We will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful boutique accommodation on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula. Three little cabins are hosted by the lovely Lisa, who has the perfect balance of charisma, charm and sense for personal space. Her partner Paul is the excellent chef behind the cooked breakfasts and the (on the request) in room dinner dining. Our room had a spacious bathroom, king...

This was by far one of the most amazing places that my husband Tony & I have ever stayed (& we have travelled a lot interstate and overseas at mostly 4-5 star. This was a surprise for him for our 1 year wedding anniversary & it surpassed all expectations. Lisa was such a kind and genuine person, we felt at...

I agree with everything stated by Sylvia in "Below Expectations". This is not a luxury retreat. It's very overpriced for what it is and I too think it is misleading in its promotion. Accommodation is adequate but the "seclusion and hideaway" are created by clearing just enough space to construct a basic wood and galvanised iron shed that's then decked...

We travel a lot and on such depend on Tripadvisor and similar sites. The Big Blue Backyard represented itself as a luxury retreat and hideaway which for us was close enough to Melbourne before work began. It certainly was a retreat since there were no facilities without a 15 min car ride. That's fair enough because you can't have it...
