The Links Country Park Hotel has been commended for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in its ample rooms, although a few visitors have reported less satisfactory conditions in common spaces. Its inviting atmosphere, enhanced by pet-friendly policies and fresh floral arrangements, adds to the charm that many guests appreciate. While the staff typically receives accolades for their friendly demeanor, some guests have encountered service inconsistencies. The accommodations are generally well-regarded for their size, despite occasional remarks on their simplicity and the need for updates. Opinions on the hotel's value for money are polarized, with some deeming it reasonable and others questioning the worth based on their experiences. Amenities like the gym and pool are highlights, yet minor issues such as spotty Wi-Fi have been noted. The hotel's location is a strong suit, celebrated for its accessibility and proximity to attractions.

We had a 7 night stay, on the Kids Stay Free Dinner Bed & Breakfast deal, and stayed in a Garden Family Room. The room itself was exactly as expected having first viewed it on the website and on booking.com (although we got a better deal through the hotel themselves). It was great to have a little garden for the kids to run around in and seats to sit out on, in the fresh air and sunshine, rather than just being stuck in a room in a hotel with nowhere to go. I agree that the rooms are a little tired and could do with a bit of a refresh, but they were perfectly fine for our needs. Once we managed to connect (it took a few tries) the wifi was good and reached the room no problem.

We enjoyed the dinner and the breakfasts. There were plenty of vegetarian options to keep us going all week - although would have liked an alternative veggie kids option, but the kids were delighted to have pizza and chips all week! I would say the dinner menu is overpriced for what you actually get, certainly for the veggie meals. I'd have been horrified to pay £16 for a main/£7 for a starter for some of the food, but as it was "included" in our package, I was really happy with it. It was mostly really tasty. My main criticism would be that they really should rethink their use of iceberg lettuce - it's not the 90s! There are much better and tastier options.

I thought the staff did really well, although a little understaffed at some times when busy due to Eat Out to Help Out. They were all friendly and helpful. Contrary to other reviewers our bill was correct - the receptionist had checked it and noticed that we hadn't had the kids meals taken off, and had already corrected it for us.

We were also delighted at being able to use the pool on rainy days with the kids. It was never busy enough that we weren't able to use it (they have a 12 swimmers max rule due to covid), and they had plentiful towels etc.

I was a little disappointed about the lack of wearing masks amongst guests in the hotel though. I understand that you don't need to wear a mask indoors if eating and drinking but did think it should have been enforced more for guests in the foyer, or otherwise moving around the hotel. Waiting and bar staff were all wearing visors. There was plenty of hand sanitiser around though and there was a sign encouraging you to log your visit on their website, but no enforcement or taking down of details so no idea how successful that it. There were options to sit outside both the main hotel and the Hole in One, which was great on a nice day, if a little windy at times!

All in all, I would recommend this hotel, understanding that it is a 3* hotel, and I would consider staying here again if we were visiting the area.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay at the Links Country Park Hotel and everything our wonderful hotel has to offer! With guests staying in the hotel we keep a log of your details throughout your stay but please be assured that non residents are asked to provide their details either online or to a member of staff that welcomes them to either the restaurant or bar. We will certainly take your comments into consideration in respect of the food - we do have vegetarian sausages which is an option for children although I appreciated this is not advertised on the menu but we would have been more than happy to try an adapt any requests for different meals. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and we hope to welcome you back again in the near future!

A 2 night break to celebrate my husbands birthday. At £165 a night plus an extra £30 per night for the dogs, it isnt cheap.

Good points:
Hotel has dog friendly rooms which is partly why we selected this hotel, and they provide a dog towel and dog bed.

Young man on reception upon arrival who was a trainee was very welcoming and friendly. Answered questions efficiently.

Service at dinner on the saturday night was outstanding, Emelie is polite, addressed us correctly, respectfully efficient and attentive . The food was lovely, compliments to chef, no complaints.

Bed was comfy, nice fat pillows. Pre-ordered bubbly arrived in the room as a surprise for hubby whilst we were dining . Dogs were left alone in room and were probably delighted to see the staff member who delivered the bubbly!

Breakfast is 'help yourself' , cooked food was of good quality ingredients and there was toast, cereal, yoghurt, tinned fruit etc. I would have liked a fresh apple or banana and maybe a croissant.

We booked the dinner, bed and brekkie break, which we were happy with but it is worth noting that this includes a £20 per person credit towards dinner, rather than covering the whole meal. There is a table'd'hote menu that you can have that the £20 completely covers but it is extremely limited and as a vegetarian with allergies I couldn't have this.

Not so good...

I asked for our bed sheet to be changed for the 2nd night and it wasnt done.

The pool was so cold, not just cool but cold. Not a nice relaxing experience.

The room was really cold overnight, my thermometer registered 16degrees.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Links Country Park Hotel, I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Having looked into your comments, you mentioned about being vegetarian with allergies you struggled with our Table D'Hote menu. I am curious to find out if the Restaurant Manager offered you any alternatives on this menu as our Team of Chefs would have happily discussed or made an alternative option for you to accommodate your dietary needs as we are very flexible and appreciate that not everything on our menu will be suitable for everyone. I will put forward your suggestion about a fresh fruit bowl and pastries to the Operations Manager for the Kitchens for consideration. I have gone back through our records for the pool as we conduct regular pool tests and temperature checks on the pool throughout the day. The readings that were during your stay were normal for what we would expect. As our pool is a leisure pool the average temperature should be between 26 and 29 degrees celsius, during your stay the average temperature of the pool water 28.5 degrees celsius, which is well within range, so it does surprise me that you felt the pool was cold. Please accept my apologies that the room was cold overnight, we have the overall heating on a thermostatic control so should maintain a set temperature - did you report this to anyone after your first night? We would have happily provided you with an extra heater and/or blankets to ensure you were nice and cosy overnight if we knew you room was cooler than it . We will certainly check on the heating in the room in question to ensure it is working efficiently to prevent this from happening again. I hope we do get the opportunity to welcome you back to the Links again in the future.

Plenty of parking to rear and side of hotel, efficient check in, one way up one way down stairs system in place (or would be if guests paid any attention to it), lift left for those that need it. Nice to sit in a bar that didn't have music blaring out, same can't be said for the restaurant. Beds very comfortable, room clean, modern furniture, 2 chairs, tea & coffee etc, nice walk in shower. My only negative comment about the room would be the very small TV, it might have been 18 inch screen but no bigger, don't get me wrong we don't come to a hotel to watch tv, it was turned on once in 3 days to see the news but with decent size tv's being so cheap these do need upgrading. For a large hotel there was very little noise overnight and we slept well. We were told at check in that 08.30 to 09.30 were very busy times for breakfast and there could be queues so these times are best avoided but we didn't have a problem. WiFi was available in all public areas and we could also access it in the room.

We booked this hotel through Booking.Com, who stated that it was a dog friendly hotel. We received our booking confirmation, which stated to call the hotel to let them know we would have a dog with us. We called the hotel, who then informed us that there would be a £15.00 per night charge for the dog, plus another £50 to deep clean the room because we were in a luxury room, not a garden room (which they put dogs in). I would have thought that £5 per night for the dog would have been sufficient, as they did not cater for dogs. When going to eat, we were told that we could not go into the restaurant, as it would upset other residents who were not dog friendly. Instead we had a tiny table in the bar, which was unsuitable for dining on, the breakfast which we booked in advance was the same situation. We had a word with reception, who said they would pass on our comments , about having a designated area to eat if you have a dog with you. It was a hot weekend and everyone was complaining that there was no air con system, we did manage to get a fan, which they did not charge us for. There was a sample menu in the room, which sounded quite nice, however the fixed menu was different, this would have been acceptable if the menu was changed regularly. Food quality was poor, service was abysmal, as we were forgotten about being in the bar area, for both evening meal and breakfast, until we complained. My partner was surveying the hotel, as he books golf trips, needless to say he will not be considering this hotel.

We had one of the garden rooms (144) as we took our dogs with us and visited just a couple of weeks after lockdown restrictions were lifted for the hospitality sector. After a 4 month lockdown we expected the room and hotel to be sparkling and welcoming as well as Covid-secure but were disappointed.
Our room had a damp, musty smell and there were unpleasant dark marks on the wall that had been hidden by an armchair.
You could not turn off the bathroom light as the pull cord had broken, so had to try and block all the light streaming through the cracks in the door. We had to request a toilet brush, which was delivered a day later.
There are no windows that you can leave open if you are not in the room, thus the damp, mustiness.
Breakfast was hit and miss. I was served a brown, stringy avocado which was inedible yet the fried eggs and sausages were good.
However, even though the restaurant was large, they squeezed customers into one half so I didn't feel the management were fully understanding being Covid-secure.
We tried to order drinks and lunch one day but the place was like the Mary Celeste.
When I saw the chef walking towards me mopping his brow and blowing his nose I took the decision to leave a day early.
The staff were below average and disorganised.
The owners think that by buying some of the nicest hotel buildings in North Norfolk that they can charge high prices but I have stayed in Travelodges that are cleaner and friendlier.
The positives are its location in one of our favourite areas of Norfolk and the fact that our dogs could sit out on the garden.

It’s difficult to know where to start on a review of The Links. We have stayed there three times before, all be it a few years ago, and enjoyed our stay so we thought due to the current Covid situation we would stay there for a short staycation.
4 nights in a deluxe room DBB cost £275 a night (£1100 total) and what we got was nowhere near what we expected for that price.

The room was ok but tired. One of the windows would not fully shut giving a draught. Ok for August but would be a problem in the colder weather. After a heavy rain storm we returned to the room to find the ceiling leaking and towels placed out to mop up the water. As is my habit I ran water into the bath until it ran hot so as not to stand under a cold shower, however this expanded the taps so I could not put up the button to start the shower. I had to run cold though it again to get the shower to work. The bed was very comfortable.

Now to the food. The choice of items on the menu for the inclusive dinner was very limited before you had to pay extra. On the first night one of our dinners was so dry it had obviously just been under a heater for a long time. We complained to the waitress but she just seemed uninterested. The breakfast the following morning was a disaster. Due to Covid the orders are taken at the door of the restaurant for the whole meal. When we sat down the whole lot was brought on in one go, We had to eat our cereal/fruit in our hands as there was no room to put it down. The breakfast which was only warm at first got even colder, the fried egg was rubber and I do not exaggerate to say I could not cut the skin over the yoke with a knife. The sausage was anaemic. The tea was just a bag in a mug which was well stewed on arrival with no spoon to remove the teabag or place to put it. The toast was just warm bread. I asked for the egg and the toast to be replaced but the replacements were no better.
We asked to speak to a manager who did listen to us and promised improvements. He said he would refund the cost of the dinner and breakfasts.

The next three days there was an improvement in the service but the quality of the food was still low

The service (apart for the first breakfast) was always very slow but on our last day, a Monday, due to “Eat out to help out “ they were busy and the service ground to a halt, we sat down at 8.10pm and were served out main course at 9.55pm. The staff spent all their time apologising for the wait and I heard many people complain that their food was cold.

To cap it all the promised reduction on our food was not include and we had to get another manager to sort it out.

We accept that things are harder due to the covid restrictions but we would advise against staying or eating at the Links until things have been sorted out.

We got the impression that this hotel had just reopened following lockdown but we could be wrong. The staff in the restaurant were very young and inexperienced and needed trained, particularly around Covid protocol. We felt the paintwork had just been done as it was still tacky in places and smelled.
Our room was dingy overlooking another part of the building and an adjoining roof so no air could come in and boy, was it hot.
We ate in the restaurant and were very disappointed with the food. I had the ribs which for the price were dry with little sauce and peas and mushrooms were served with them!!
Breakfast too was what I call a “value” meal: cheap generic butter, plastic pots of marmalade and tasteless white bread toast. A pot of tea or coffee would have been nice instead of vacuum jugs they brought round the tables and poured you a cup. Cooked breakfast average.
Not a hotel we’ll be returning to.

My wife and I chose to use a Buyagift voucher from our family for a one night stay at this lovely character hotel as we were visiting friends in Norfolk.
I can honestly say, that from the moment we arrived to our departure the next day, the whole experience was a real joy.
On arrival, the reception staff were extremely friendly and efficient and check in was completed in minutes. Then, as an added bonus, we were told we had received a complimentary room upgrade to a lovely large room overlooking the golf course. The room featured a huge comfortable bed, great en-suite shower room, tv, tea/coffee making facilities and adjustable levels of heating.
We enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening, had a comfortable nights sleep and a great breakfast in the morning. The food selection in the restaurant was excellent for both sittings and again the staff were very friendly and efficient.
The meal and drink prices were very reasonable and the bar did a good selection of drinks.
On leaving, check-out was again nice and simple and we left having had a great overnight stay.
To sum up. Nice character hotel, with great facilities and excellent staff in a good location just a 10 minute drive from Cromer. Recommended!

We had buy a gift voucher and chose to stay in Norfolk as not visited before and stayed at the Links. From arrival having Wendy check us in they had all CV19 safety measures in place, with clear instructions. At dinner we were met by Matthew who again explained what we needed to do and made us feel welcome, the restaurant was roomy and again all safety procedures in place. Breakfast was well presented and both dinner and breakfast the food was plentiful and tasty! All the staff from housekeeping to reception were polite and very service orientated we would definitely come back again.

A clean and efficient 3 star hotel for the most part. We enjoyed a spacious superior king sized room with a comfortable Emperor bed and large bathroom with walk in shower. Staff were helpful and polite, doing their best to maintain safety during Covid19. Breakfast was served at table and was fully up to the standard you would expect in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Dinner from a wide ranging menu was well cooked and presented. We would certainly return.
