Stayed in late December as we were booked on the Polar Express train ride from Weardale Railway and wanted to stay the night rather than travel. We found this hotel to be excellent value for money, clean, rooms were spacious and staff at reception and breakfast were very friendly and welcoming. We ate in the Grouse and Claret which was...

Having just moved to the area, the most beautiful area by the way, :). We have tried the few local restaurants and found likes and average. We kept driving past the Derwent Manor on the main road but never really thought about it for a meal. I also am from the States so Best Western Hotels are a good chain...

Went with family for the Boxing Day Carvery Lunch and can't praise it enough. Fantastic choice of cold starters for which you help yourself to as many times as you like, soup was also available. The Carvery have a choice of 4 succulent roasted meats or you could have some of each. There was plenty of choice for vegetables, roast...

Stayed here at Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were even able to have a swim on Christmas morning. As we've experienced in previous visits every member of staff that we had contact with were polite, courteous and friendly. Mr. Donkin I hope you are appreciative of your staff, they are a credit to your hotel.

I stayed here recently on a business trip. Not a great deal to say generally, - the hotel mostly is as you would expect, ticking the boxes for cleanliness, food quality etc. The place is pretty large, with seemingly more function rooms than guest rooms, but I'm sure that's not the case. The (four poster) bed was extremely comfortable; there...
