I visited the Rose and Thistle recently on a cycling tour with some friends and we stayed there overnight. Alwinton is not the biggest place to visit but the welcome certainly was. The bedroom was very nicely appointed and comfy. The B&B rooms have their own sitting room and the wood fire was most welcome after a day of cycling...

We booked for two nights on a last minute weekend away. We had never been to Alwinton or the Coquet Valley even though it is only an hour away from our house. We were amazed at it's sheer beauty, we love walking and this was just so good, you can climb up quickly and the views are spectacular. We did...

We had an enjoyable two night stay here on our way north. The inn is well placed for walks to suit all levels from family strolls to more challenging routes offering superb views over the beautiful national park land. The inn itself has good off street parking. Our room was large and very comfortable. Residents also have access to a...

I stayed here with extended family next door in the adjoining cottage (managed/owned by the pub). The cottage itself is large and spacious and has a comfortable feel to it. There are four bedrooms all of which have an en-suite bathroom. The cottage is generally well equipped although a few more cooking utensils wouldn't go a miss. The pub itself...

Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere and child friendly. The tables are a good size to enjoy your meal and not feel cramped looking for space to put dishes. The service was warm and friend,y. Sometimes you go for a meal and you feel as if they are rushing you as they need the table, we were left to enjoy our meal...

Stayed at this Bed and Breakfast to attend a party. The accommodation is attached to a pub but separate too. You don't hear noisy from the pub and have a lovely private lounge area for staying guests. The room was lovely, nice layout and the most comfortable bed ever! Good shower and bathroom facilities. Breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit salad,...

Booked a week at the Horse House (annex to the Rose & Thistle pub). Not being able to have our son & daughter plus their family's all together under one roof we decided to book the annex having had several one night visits as a couple. Alwinton and surrounding countryside is a delight to one's eyes. The property is outstanding...

Along with three other couples we stayed for two nights in the well appointed self catering house next door to the pub. We had an evening meal and two breakfasts at the pub which were all good. The house was furnished and decorated to a high standard and it would be ideal for an extended family. The kitchen was fabulous...
