The views were stunning from our porch. It was so nice to be in the middle of nowhere. Peace and quiet is priceless. The restaurant has a great menu and all our meals were outstanding. Our cabin was very comfortable, clean and good beds, I highly recommend staying here at some point at some point during an Alaskan visit.

We are so glad you enjoyed the view - it is nice to be reminded of what a special place this is- when we are busy working we sometimes forget to look up and enjoy the view! We take pride in offering fresh fare on our menu, especially Alaska salmon and locally grown vegetables. Our homemade soups are a favorite...

We had a great one day stay over at the Sheep Mountain Lodge in one of their RV spots. Even though the place was not officially open, the hosts allowed us to stay for one night. The location is great and the Lodge has a nice trail system just behind the premises, which can keep you busy for at least...

We are so glad you got to meet Zack and enjoy our property. Both Sheep Mountain and Homer are places to see when in Alaska.

The cabins are really quiet and relaxing the views of the mountains and goats are amazing. Then you have the glacier on the other side, what more can you ask for!!! The also have a nice restaurant inside and a big mounted moose. I would definitely return.

Sheep Mountain Lodge was built in 1946 to accommodate travelers along the Glenn Highway. It was originally a two-story log structure with 13 rooms. Zack and Anjanette Steer, both lifelong Alaskans, own Sheep Mountain Lodge. Zack has participated in the Iditarod and Yukon Quest. Parking was not directly in front of our cabin and we felt we had to partially...

Thank you for your thorough review. Cabin 8 is our smallest most cozy cabin, perfect for a couple who wants to be close to their vehicle. We noted the need for a new mattress and blackout shade and they were installed/upgraded this fall.

Following a beautiful and scenic drive from Wrangell St Elias it was lovely to spend a night in such a beautiful location. Very comfortable individual cabin which was well equipped . The dinner and breakfast menus gave reasonable choice and were good value. Plenty of walking from the lodges.

Nice clean place with individual cabins for $129 and up. We were there for the end of the season, and I would go back. An especially nice place if you like hiking as there are many local trails of all levels of difficulty. Owners operate a restaurant on-site that offers a variety of locally grown and sustainable options. Worth returning...

We drove from Anchorage to overmight in the Lodge. Its setting is almost surreally magnificent, against a jaw droppingly specular mountain backdrop. We had been told that the accommodation (in individual log cabins) would be simple - but it was lovely. A refreshing antidote to the sterile montony of chain hotels. The room was clean and spacious, firm comfortable bed,...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Some days we forget to look up from our work and enjoy the mountains- your adjectives describing the scenery are true and thanks for keeping it in perspective for us and offering a glimpse for future visitors.

We stayed in deluxe cabin number 2 for 2 nights to break the journey from Denail to Wrangell St Elias National Park. Check in was quick & friendly, the cabin was a good size, warm, clean & well equipped. We had a full size cooker, fridge & well stocked kitchen. Bathroom is small but adequate, beds comfy. Main lodge has...

Our cabin was clean but you need to bring your own pillow, they are old and very thin. I liked the fact that they had maintained trails around the hotel with maps. Great hiking, the restaurant was tasty.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to make it 5 stars the next time you visit. We definitely needed some new pillows in a few of the cabins - they have been replaced, we appreciate your feedback. You picked a good time to enjoy the trails- the fall colors right now are unbeatable.

The independent traveler in Alaska, whether a state resident or visitor can not do better than Sheep Mountain Lodge. Just a few hours' drive from Anchorage, along a glorious scenic highway, the lodge is first-class all the way. I stayed in a premier cabin, but the entire property is maintained at the highest levels for comfort and convenience. The hiking...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again someday. Sheep Mountain Lodge does have a full size moose mount in our greenhouse, his name is Russell and he is a "leftover" prop from a reality tv show. We have two entreprenuers on site who charge $1 for a photo with him if they are here...
