Detailed Reviews
The Waves at Cane Bay is a great location. Beautiful rooms, great views of the ocean, the sound of waves to put you to sleep and wake up to. Jill is a great manager.
Ama restaurant is located below some of the hotel rooms (but you can’t hear any of the noise from your room above). The restaurant is nice (make reservations).
The rooms are nicely renovated and well appointed.
You will definitely want a rental car if you’re coming here. It puts you in a central location to go anywhere on the island, and gives you a quiet and relaxing place to come back to at night.

The website does not do any justice, the place was MUCH better than the pictures, who knew it's possible? So when you walk into the most modern but comfortably furnished super stylish room, you get ocean in front of you, without any sand, nothing in between your window to ocean, it's the most astonishing view I've ever seen in my life. The place had nice sized kitchen you can cook, clean functional bathroom with warm water, and comfortable king size bed, large lounging chairs and dining table int the large terrace, with amazing view (can't stress enough). You also get to see the Mountain View, beaches, and sunset, nothing you can't see from this window. It was our first time visiting the island so we had a lot of questions and needed lots of help and the contact person at the hotel, Jill, is the most helpful, friendly, and sweet person. THANK YOU!! :) she's amazing. I must mention also the bar/restaurant in the hotel, AMA, had mazing food...can't find one bad thing about this place. It's walking distance to cane bay beach, where snorkeling is just perfect, and are few other restaurants and bars you can walk to, very local and lively places. Definitely want to visit again, and stay at the same place!!!

Just returned from a tremendous family trip to the North Shore of St Croix and a lovely stay at The Waves At Cane Bay. Thoroughly enjoyed our first time on the island and you can't beat the location and breathtaking views from the rooms overlooking the ocean.
Thank you Jill for a great experience and want to pass along a big shout out to your entire team who were exceptional and provided wonderful service all around during our stay. Dinner at Ama is a must and thanks again to Curt for providing great recommendations and service during our dinner there to celebrate my Daughter's birthday. Have already recommended Waves to family and friends and will certainly be back in the future.

We loved our stay at the Waves at Cane bay for the most part. The view and location was spectacular, however during our stay we noticed a large number of flying bugs coming out of the kitchen and bathroom sinks. My husband and I ended up covered in itchy bug bites, and are still finding new ones a week after our return. We also were charged $50 for “room damage” because I unfortunately started my cycle while sleeping and ended up getting a small blood stain on the sheets. While the location and room was nice, that has completely turned us off from revisiting.

Excellent, secluded, quiet boutique hotel right on the water. Fantastic views from the rooms, patio and restaurant, which we dined at three times during our 7 night stay. Wait staff were a delight and the chef prepared compatible dishes. Chantal was unbelievably helpful with every aspect of our stay
Clean rooms and balconies- friendly staff
Would definitely recommend

Words are not going to be enough for this review. My husband and I booked a room here for our honeymoon. From their photos and other reviews, as well as their social media, this seemed like the best fit.
That was an understatement.
We have never stayed somewhere so incredibly amazing. We're not just talking about the room and the view either. The entire staff from housekeeping to management were so kind and helpful
Jill the property manager is one amazing human. She made sure we were taken care of for our entire trip. She made us feel welcome and at home. We really appreciate everything she did for us and how easy she was to contact. On our second day there she jumped into the sea to save a baby bird. So she's an absolute angel. We'd honestly just come back for Jill alone.
Our room had a large kitchen that came complete with cookware. We had fresh coffee every morning and it made our life so much easier to have everything we needed without having to buy anything for the kitchen except for the food.
The view. THE VIEW. I will never forget our balcony and falling asleep to the sound of waves every night. It was like something out of a fairytale. Our room was so beautiful and modern and has inspired us to redo our bedroom at home.
The hotel was private, quiet and so safe. The perfect spot to get away and relax without being completely isolated from everyone and everything. The walk to the beach was only a few short minutes away. Side note, go to the beach at night for amazing stargazing on clear nights.
I could go on for hours about how amazing this place is, but you should really go and find out for yourself.
We will be back soon. Thank you for being the place that made our honeymoon perfect.

My wife and I stayed at The Waves in November 2021 for our honeymoon. To say the hotel and staff were incredible would be an understatement. We were greeted so warmly by Jo who gave us all the info we needed to navigate the island before showing us to our room. Our hotel room was gorgeous and the views were spectacular. When you open the door to your balcony you are greeted by the sound of waves crashing right beneath you (shut the door and the loud waves fade away!). The room was modern and comfortable. The hotel is located a quick walk to a Cane Bay Beach, one of the best on the island! (Helps that the beach is dotted with three great tikibars/restaurants). There is also a "natural" pool onsite that waves crash into. It's perfect for a quick dip as long as you don't mind sharing space with some of the local wildlife. The Waves' restaurant, Ama at Cane Bay, serves up deliciously fresh food and makes it difficult to eat anywhere else!
Overall we can't recommend the Waves enough! A fantastic hotel in a fantastic location with fantastic staff!

We had a wonderful comfortable stay here. Loved the full kitchen, and all the supplies one could possibly want, including beach bag, large beach towels, coffee, water, and even a complimentary bottle of wine! Comfy bed, great view from our balcony over the ocean. Charlette, the manager, assisted us immediately with things we needed, such as ice, dish towel, and showed us where things were. Great little tidal pool for enjoying the waves safely. Great place.

I can’t say enough good things about the Waves at Cane Bay. The remodel they did is absolutely beautiful. Modern Boho where you don’t feel like you’re in a hotel. The views are stunning from your balcony, the bar and the restaurant. Everyone in the staff is so welcoming and personable with you. The on-site restaurant AMA is incredible! We ate there twice (definitely need reservations). EJ from Ama makes sure everything is top notch and he’ll make sure you’re enjoying everything. Ted is the bartender at the sunset bar, and he’ll also make sure you’re taken care of, making whatever your drink of choice is. We found ourselves every evening enjoying drinks at the bar, watching the sunset and interacting with the amazing staff. If we find ourselves back in St. Croix, we’ll 100% be back at the Waves at Cane Bay
Conveniently located between Christiansted and Fredricksted, you’re able to explore the whole island (recommend renting a jeep).

+1
This review is for Waves, for Canes Bay, and for St Croix as opposed to other Virgin Islands.
If you’re craving a trip to the Caribbean but are allergic to loud, overweight, drunk vacationers from the American south — do yourself a favor. First, have the guts to come to St Croix even though your friends probably won’t recognize it. Second, give yourself the the gift of doing very very little while here; skip the snorkel trips, skip the beach chair rentals, skip the zip line, probably don’t rent a car.
Instead — I’m here to tell you that everything you need is in Cane Bay. Stay at Waves, wake up & fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, saunter to Canes Bay beach to join a lively mixture of locals & tourists for all day beach lethargy, start the day with a smoothie and a breakfast burrito from the food truck, get some grilled lobster at landings for lunch, play some dominoes with the locals smoking spliffs at the plastic shed turned beach bar, and call it a day. Come back to waves for a shower, enjoy the best food you’ll get on the island anyway (at Ama), and cozy up in the perfectly AC’ed rooms to Netflix before falling asleep & doing it all over again — preferably for as many days as possible. Take a Cessna off the island and vow to tell as few people about this place as possible.
