Hadn't stayed here since it changed hands and wanted a base for a weekend's birdwatching. Ideal location, about 10 minutes from the Cley reserve. We were pleased that the "bird bible" with local sightings was still in use. Comfortable room with well designed bathroom and the food was lovely - lucky enough to try the lamb which they rear locally... More

The rooms we had enjoyed stunning views over the marshes which was lovely however the furnishing needed updating. One room (#4) had a TV no bigger than an ipad on the wall, however enjoyed a great big bathroom. The other room (#5) had a large TV but the wardrobe was minute and the carpet had seen better days. It was... More

Location is great for North Norfolk. However, the room was ok apart from the bathroom where the hand held shower in the bath was useless and you could not stand up to have a shower as the roof sloped. The bath should be relocated. Food was ok but overall the prices are far too high for the ambiance of the... More

Had a great break. Bit off the beaten track but a lovely location. Beautiful walks along the coastal paths. A must is a visit to seal island. Food was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We decided on a last minute night away, turned up at the George in Cley next the Sea. A beautiful place just west of Sheringham. The George is a pub / hotel / restaurant. We were offered their best room at a discount as we were a walk in and there was only one other person staying. This room is... More

I have had lunch at this hotel on a number of occasions over the last few years but my experience on this occasion has prompted me to write a review to inform readers of reviews on TripAdvisor and hopefully prompt the management to make improvements. I had lunch in the bar along with two other friends. The beer was good... More

I booked The George Hotel at Cley next the Sea (through Secret Escapes) as we were travelling from Scotland to an 80th birthday celebration on Sunday 20 November in Harlow in Essex. For our return I thought it would be nice to head up to the North Norfolk coast (which we love) on the Monday and break our journey and... More

We spent a very enjoyable night here. The staff were extremely efficient and friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. What more do you want. Nice warm fire in the dining room and reasonable menu.

We stayed here with a groupon voucher but had to pay for an upgrade as it was the last room left! We were visiting Titchwell Reserve for the day, staying in The George overnight before then exploring Cley Reserve! On arrival we were checked in by a very friendly and helpful Alice. Our room was very spacious with a well... More

Visited for lunch, staff lovely, food seriously low end. Paid £50 for two plus drinks, food bad enough to complain. Inedible veg, presentation desperate (marmalade smeared across plate, remnants of jumper stuck to it). Basically school dinners but at London prices.
