This hotel really goes above and beyond to make sure their guests have a great experience. They pick you up at the ferry, book tours, book return ferry transport, and most anything else needed. We really enjoyed the location of the hotel because it was quiet and close to everything we needed. Our favorite restaurant on our entire trip was two blocks from the hotel. Another small perk that really made a nice difference is an area to clean and hang dry our wet suits. Oh, the breakfast buffet at the hotel was very nice and they even had coffee &tea available in the lobby all day.

This is a very nice hotel in Isabella. Our room was big and the beds were comfortable. it was very clean and the service was excellent. They were very good about keeping out luggage safe while we went on an excursion. The breakfast was plentiful and satisfying. A very good value for money. It is also centrally located and has a lovely garden/patio

What this hotel does not have on luxury it has on charm! Our room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfasts were more than one could eat. The location is perfect. We had to check out very early, before they served breakfast and they prepared a snack pack the night before for us to take. We would definitely go back.
PS. The Wifi was available only in the lobby. It didn't work in our room

We had a wonderful 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms are clean, comfy beds. The bathroom's a little small but has all facilities. The chef cooked some wonderful meals for us. The food isn't always available, so check first. There's a hot tub - you just have to ask to fill it. It was a wonderful benefit after the hike up Sierra Negra. Lovely sitting area to relax while you wait for your tours to start. The activities are listed on a white board so you know your pickup times - very helpful if you miss seeing your tour coordinator. Great staff. Free wifi, but like everywhere in the Galapagos slower than we are used to. There's a flatscreen TV but why in the world would you bother? We will definitely come back! There's a rooster nearby who can't tell time, so bring ear plugs!

Excellent stay in hotel San Vicente.
Very comfortable room, with an extra large bed. The television was not working and the wifi did not get to into the room, but the service was excellent, room was tidied and beds made punctually. The hotel has hot water and wifi was available in the reception. Located a few streets away from the beach, but that’s only minutes away. Nachito at the reception was very welcoming and had a solution and answer for all our needs; directions, an organised tour, a taxi to the ferry, a bicycle rental or any need for information, she arranges it for you in no time. She only speaks Spanish tho, but that is no issue for us.

First room we received had a rotten apple in the wardrobe with ants and bugs on it. The sheets were stained as were the towels. Our second bedroom wasn’t much better. Stains on sheets and pillow covers. Bathrooms don’t have hot water for washing your face. I wore sandals in the shower. The jacuzzi was not operational. Breakfast was fine but not expansive. Would not recommend. We came with a tour and had this not been where the tour was staying we would’ve left immediately.

Very nice hotel within easy walking distance to main town and piers (although they will collect and drop you off for ferries and tours). Breakfast was nice, room comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Hotel San Vicente,
Review of Hotel San Vicente.
My husband and I booked a land tour of the Galapagos Islands through Nature Galapagos & Ecuador ( an Equador company) choosing the "tourist class " option.  We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights.

The room was more like a 4 star hotel than the 3 star it is rated as. It was a very clean, large modern room with bathroom and shower. We were comfortable and slept really well every night despite others complaining of roosters crowing and such.  The beds were clean, remade every day. There was air- conditioning which is very important as the temperatures were between 30 & 36. At the end of every day a fresh jug of water greeted us in our room.

Meals were served at the hotel. T Except for one luncheon, all food was tasty.  Food tends to be more simple here with fish and chicken as main menu choices and that suited us just fine.

All the staff except the heavy-set lady behind the front desk were wonderfully friendly and eager to help us.  That lady needs to take a hospitality course.  She was a sergeant major.

Unfortunately we spoke little Spanish and used our dictionary a lot.  It helps to learn some basic phrases before leaving home.  The guides usually know some English but they are not always at the hotel.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations in quality and service and we would recommend it highly to any of our friends.

There was always a wonderful atmosphere around the hotel with many tourists from every part of the world laughing, trying to speak another language and having meals together.

Response from HSanVicente, Guest Relations Manager at Hotel San Vicente Galapagos
Responded May 29, 2012
Dear Rika Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel and sorry for the delay in responding back. Trip Advisor has just verified our hotel documentation, giving us the great opportunity to finally keep in touch with our visitors. Thanks for all your good comments on your experience with us. We are very happy to learn you enjoyed our services so much. As mentioned, we indeed try to keep our rooms clean and well-conditioned as we understand that temperature can be high, especially at May when you visited us and considering most of them go out on excursions. We also try to keep a friendly environment to the hotel, as we receive visitors from all around and try to make it as comfortable as possible for everyone. As for meals, there are certain some limitations given most of the foods are brought from the continent and Isabela being a little far away. But we will try to figure out a way to include more variety to our menus. As for our receptionists, we have already talked with them so we can have friendlier face on the front desk. Sorry if this might make you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes at the hotel we are just busy and forget to smile :-)! Rika, once again, thanks for recommending us and for all you suggestions. The San Vicente Hotel family will be pleased to receive you once again if you decide to visit us at Isabela any time soon! Best regards Guest Relations Manager

We stayed at the Hotel San Vicente for three nights in late August as part of our land based tour with Nature Galapagos and Ecuador. Overall, we found the accommodation decent for the amount of time we spent there (minimal) and the price we paid (also minimal).

LOCATION
Not the greatest - it was down a quieter street, and one night we were dropped off at the beach and given vague directions on how to get back to the hotel. After wandering around for about half an hour, we were finally given directions by a police officer. It probably is about a 10 minute walk from the beach, but if you've had a few too many drinks at Bar de Beto (great place!) you might find it takes a little longer...

HOTEL / ROOMS
We were first given a room upstairs, with a huge king bed and two twins. Very spacious and comfortable... and then were told that this was an error and our room was actually downstairs. This room had three twin beds and was so cramped, with our bags on the floor there was practically any space to walk around. If you're willing to pay more, there are some decent rooms. For our purposes, we only used the rooms to sleep in, so it didn't bother us too much. From our room, we could hear all of our neighbours talking / laughing quite loudly into the night, and had a lovely wake-up call from the oft-mentioned rooster at approximately 5am every morning. If you're like me and can sleep through anything, this shouldn't be a problem, but my travel companions found it incredibly annoying.

The beds were comfortable, if not somewhat sketchy looking (the sheet covering the sketchy looking mattress was really thin and see-through, so I layered a towel on top). I'm sure everything was clean enough but if you're squeamish towards this kind of thing I wouldn't stay at this hotel. We also had a resident gecko in our shower the duration of our stay, and had to be very careful not to accidentally soap him while using the shower. If that is something you can't live with, I'm not sure I would suggest visiting the Galapagos!

The internet at the hotel was extremely difficult to get, even at our room right next to the lobby. If you really want internet (which you shouldn't - you're on vacation in the Galapagos!) I would suggest going and sitting out in the garden area with bug spray at night - and lots of it.

There is no in room safe, but there is a safe in the lobby (which we never used.) We didn't have any issues with security at all. There is also a water cooler in the lobby with filtered water, so you can leave your kettles at home.

STAFF
The staff is very friendly!! Always willing to help out, always had smiles on their faces, and were relatively quick to respond to any issues we had. There was a bit of a language barrier here if you don't speak Spanish, but a Spanish-English dictionary went a long way.

FOOD
Like a lot of the reviews mentioned, the meals are served buffet style in the lobby, with one long dining table, another big dining table outside, and a few smaller outdoor tables. This really gives you a chance to get to know the other people at the hotel, and everyone is pretty friendly.

We actually found the food to be pretty decent, despite the complaints on tripadvisor. There was always some sort of vegetable soup, chicken/fish, potato/rice, and vegetable for dinner. At breakfast we were always provided with those amazing buns (I would intend on eating half of one, and end up eating 2!) , fresh fruit, delicious juices, and eggs. Same grilled fish/chicken for lunch.

Like I mentioned, if you're just looking for a basic place to sleep while you're on vacation, you can't go wrong with San Vicente. It is very budget friendly with very few inconveniences (language, location, roosters). If things like being woken up early, monotonous meals, and sketchy looking beds aren't your thing, I would suggest looking at some of the higher end hotels available on the island.
