Came to view birds, especially hummingbirds, and this was a great spot. Tons of birds with a nice seating area. Met other birders and learned some new things. Our room was very cozy. Bring food to fix in your room. No restaurant there. But kitchens in rooms. We will be back.

Madera Canyon is famous as a birding destination and it did not disappoint. Our cabin next to the feeder area had turkeys in the front yard. All the cabins are but a short walk to the feeders which attract a variety to birds all day long. There are a number of hiking trails in the canyon which I would love... More

If you're a birder, the Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon is the place to be. Located a little over a mile from the top of the road, this rustic lodge offers amazing bird viewing without leaving the property. From their hummingbird and other bird feeders to the open forest next to the lodge, birds of all sizes and types... More

Madera Canyon is one of Arizona's best kept secrets, so never crazy crowded even on a holiday weekend. Santa Rita Lodge is a great no frills place to stay. Casitas have kitchenettes and cabins have full kitchens for a reasonable price. Seasonal creek (in Spring) runs behind property, which can be seen from each of the Casitas or the back... More

Nestled in Madera Canyon, this is one of a handful of places to stay. The room we had slept 3, tho one bed was a futon couch which pretty much accommodated my 6'4" frame. The area is very quite with lots of bird feeders and activity, even in early June during a heat warning. The only think lacking is somewhere... More

The room was comfortable and clean. The only problem was a flakey internet. Sometimes we could not connect and other times we were able to make poor connections. This seems to be a problem throughout S and SE Arizona. For casual email readers this is not likely a problem, but if you want to peruse online bird data, complete online... More

We stayed in #18 with a full kitchen and private porch overlooking the bird-viewing area. The wild turkeys ran right by our front door! The area has more than birding and hiking trails. Good access to Tubac and Sonoita/Patagonia. Centrally located for exploring Southern Arizona.

Everything you need here...no frills, but it just felt good. Wi-fi sketchy, but you shouldn't be worried about wi-fi when you're trying to get back to nature. Just shut down your hi-speed technology and RELAX!!!! Very clean...my idea of glorified camping. Shower, fairly comfortable bed (bring your own pillow, if you can), TV(limited), DVD player. All in all, really a... More

The Santa Rita Lodge is a great place for a bit of time away from work. We went there as part of our annual birding trip to southern Arizona. We have been to this area more than once and were able to get the casitas this time instead of staying in the surrounding area...a must to experience what madera canyon... More

We stayed in the Santa Rita cabins in Madera Canyon to do some bird watching. The cabins are clean and a well stocked kitchen with utensils, dishes, coffee maker, fridge, hot plate and microwave. The cabins are rustic but clean and comfortable. Be forewarned phone service is iffy and wifi is slow so no steaming. DVDs for rent in gift shop.... More
