Out on a trip with 5friends. We emailed ahead of time to reserve two cabins, each fitting three people (double bed plus sofa bed). Unfortunately we did not receive any email regarding our request which mde us call and confirm in the end. Also, linen and bedding was provided, despite making a reservation for 6people they guy had to organize... More

Compared to most holiday parks this one would be on the low side of mediocre. However you are not going to find a place closer to Wharariki beach, which has been the highlight of our trip so far. The campsites are small with no shade, and there are two retired horses that are free to roam about the camp. Having... More

With 16$ per person we got: A tent site the size of a parking spot where only our minivan could fit, no space for chairs or table or whatsoever; No hot showers unless you pay $2/4 minutes and its only 3 showers for the whole campsite; Stinking and full of flies drop in toilets (DOC toilets are cleaner); Pack in... Well set up holiday park in a stunning location but the price with the ad on for showers accompanied with the Complete lack of kitchen supplies not to mention the cheeky request to take all rubbish out just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. 18 dollars per person is a lot to ask for a patch of grass just... This is well worth the drive off the beaten track! With wharariki beach just a short walk away, staff were really friendly and welcoming, bathroom and kitchen were clean and tidy. This is a small places so would recommend booking, a lot of tourists go here as well. Must visit stay to Visit the most northern beach in the South... More

Great spot right next to the 20min walk to the beach. Private room was small but good. The girl at check in was very friendly and bubbly. Shared kitchen was fine with no supplies so you had to bring all your own which was fine. The $2 for 4mins showers were good. The only thing we disliked were the long... More

Interesting reading the other reviews. We are 55 year old kiwis and we loved this campground, one of the most memorable we've stayed at. We stayed in the cabins which are just lovely - much better than your usual "standard" campground cabin. Very private with outlook over a mature wetland area. The cooking facilities are a little limited and there... More

This was the best place in the south island. Only a few minutes walk to wharariki beach. If you are there you should visit the farewell spit cafe for some good food and a coffe. Lovely people and Lea makes the best cakes!! I wish i could go back.

At the end of the gravel road, you will find out what "paradise" means! Surounded by green hills and at 10 min walking from the most amazing beach in nz! The camp is beautiful, the amenities block is neat and clean! You can play pool and dart game for free! The big terrace is the place to relax and enjoy... More

I ended up staying here for a month with some friends. This place is absolutely amazing, beautiful beaches, lots of little hikes to go on, a cafe up the road and if you have a car you can visit Takaka for a day trip and the Maori Te Waikoropupū springs among many other things! You do have to pay for... More

“As it is a very windy spot at Wharariki we would recommend a sheltered tent site. Down in front of the cabins by the flax bush is sheltered and private. Otherwise tent site 17B is quite sheltered.”
