OBL was our final destination after an exciting tour through the eastern provinces of SA. We had a luxury, comfortable and relaxing two weeks in this most hospitable paradise, which, in fact, can be a holiday destination in it's self for those who want to refrain from driving thousands of miles to explore the whole country. While there are top...

The room we stayed in was shabby and old, did not have a TV in the room or an aircon. I noticed the duvet was stained. I enjoyed the breakfast, that was the only meal we had at the Lodge, so I can't comment on the rest. Its lovely to have the horses walking around, the area is lovely. The...

We stayed at Oyster Bay Lodge for 1 night. After 3 days wedding near Pretoria, this was a really good place to relax. Enjoy the walks, climb the sand dunes and walk on the beach - beautiful! We were welcomed by the horses who roam free. A shame I didn't try the horse riding on this wonderful beach. Our room...

We had only a brief overnight stay here but would go back and spend several days next time. The 27 km drive on the gravel road was a suprise but you know you are really away from it all. The cottages were clean and quaint and cozy with fireplaces and the most excellent showers we experienced ever. The walk to...

Upon arriving at the OBL we were greeted by the owner, Hans. He was so enthusiastic about his property we were excited before even leaving the reception. To say OBL is magnificent is still an understatement. The private beach with roaming horses and huge sand dunes are breathtaking. I had a luxury suite next door to my friends, each with...

The dirt roads aren't (at time of writing) nearly so bad as some allege and certainly shouldn't put you off at least a three-night stay at this lovely, remote, haven. Though why they market the self-catering option when you are 25km from a shop and Jeandre serves such excellent meals (and to the gastro-snobs, OK the sorbet is a bit...

In the middle of nowhere we enjoyed our stay at the Oyster Bay Lodge because of the very friendly staff, the good food and the long walks along the beach and the dunes.

I arrived without warning on a windy day, asking for a horse ride. The owner was most accommodating, the staff friendly and my guide ever helpful. While I waited for the horses to be prepared, I has a quick lunch. I would however take the food quality up one notch, as it is a vital part of one's total experience....
