Really enjoyed our stay. Beautifully designed bedrooms with impressive attention to detail. Great staff who could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the restaurant every night as it was so good. Carlo the waiter was particularly helpful in suggesting what to eat and drink. The only thing which would have made it prefect would be the addition of a swimming pool to cool off in the heat of the day. Otherwise all good.

Great place to relax in Puglia. Beautiful set up in a vineyard. You are a little far away but it is worth it. Not much to see in Maruggio.

The staffs are very nice . They will feel you at home. The food is realy good and the terrasse is stunning.

Highly recommended if you do not mind driving

We stayed here for one night only. The room (suite) was nice, modern and clean. To get to the main building from our room we had to walk which was nice during daylight and tricky at night. At night the huge olive trees are lit up so it was quite unique.
The staff was very professional and courteous. Breakfast was held on the upper floor of the main building so we had a beautiful view. Good assortment and service for breakfast.
We purchased some of their wine.....definitely a must.
If I could improve something I would add an outdoor pool and better parking (with lights) for cars parked near the rooms. A car is needed while staying in this structure.

Still puzzled by the layout. 1/4 mile from the masseria building to the rooms and 1/4 mile from the parking lot to the rooms. Rooms are modern in design, super clean and classic ceramic/ stone finishes, but not very large. You can be seen completely in the shower when you walk in the room door and the toilet area has a smoked glass door that barely provides any privacy. The staff is hidden and not in your face. Anything you want they will get for you. Pool is modern and new, but again a hike from the rooms. Restaurant was very good with curated local wines and traditional Apuglia cuisine. In the middle of nowhere but just a short drive to good beaches.

The place is weird, like a deserted hotel. The furniture you see in the pictures is not even there, the golf cart is broken, trash cans on the side of the hotel piling up. The receptionist speaks no english and the room are all on the parking like a trailer park. I also hate the decor...New and tacky.

Fabriche in Vigne is not a serious place. If there was once a historic masseria here, any sense of history has been completely designed away. The original building now resembles nothing more than a pop decorator’s idea of what a masseria should look like in a high end shelter magazine. The sleeping rooms are not even in the once-historic structure. They are a good walk down the hill in two rows of blandly contemporary buildings set within an olive grove, where their nearness to the highway makes truck noise audible in the background. These rooms are built more for show than function. The bedside lamps are too weak for reading; there is no chair in the room—only a bed and two backless ottomans; the door to a deck will not fully open because it is blocked by the bed; the bathroom lacks proper shaving or makeup lighting; the step down shower enclosure features a rain shower, but also has a faucet that directs a flow of water into a shallow tub that is not deep enough for bathing; the only entrance to some rooms is via a narrow path that connects with the porch of an adjoining room. But the rooms would look great in a design magazine. For breakfast or wi fi access, a guest must walk up a dirt road to the main structure, where new age elevator music plays in the background. I can’t comment on the restaurant, because it was closed on the night we were there. Having noted all of this, it must be said that the hostess is charming and helpful and the local dog, Malvesia, is sweet. But if you are looking for a real Puglian masseria experience, take a pass on the Fabriche.

Response from Fabriche, Owner at Masseria Le Fabriche
Responded May 17, 2014
Dear guest, we are sorry to read your observations, resulting from a lack of knowledge of the story of this Masseria. We would never have compromised the harmony of a magic place designed by nature by putting an historic building near to modern structures, just for the frenzy of having the rooms in the Masseria. Neither we would have ever created a fake! Who chooses us knows from our website what he/she’s going to find here at Le Fabriche. The main building, ancient and elegant summer stately mansion, was not altered in its original spaces and, only for the purpose of being usable by guests, it was designed for a different use: lounge areas at the ground floor and restaurant at the first floor, where guests enjoy long horizons and stunning views of rows of grape vines and dry stone walls. The bedrooms in the olive grove, with their wide windows and their colours “inflecting” on the natural tones of Apulian stone, were designed to let the surrounding nature speak. The red purple- vinasse colour recurring in some furnishing, far from meaning to recall pop art, as you mention, is a homage to the main product of the whole project: the WINE, which represents the starting point of our hospitality idea. As far as your complaints about the functionality of some pieces of furnishing, when they were pointed out (for instance the reading lights), our staff promptly solved the problem. We do not expect, of course, that our choices meet all of our guests’ tastes but we are anyway glad of having hosted you here at Le Fabriche and we take the chance to send you our best regards. Masserie Le Fabriche was supposed to be our final highlight of our 12 days-trip through Puglia. It turned out to be a complete disaster. We booked the suite, which is located nicely with a view over the wine field. First thing we noticed was that all the furniture on the terrace on the backside of the Masseria, where our suite was located, was covered under plastic sheets. It wasn't welcoming at all.

As soon as we entered the room we noticed a very very strong nicotine odor - there previous guest must have lived in the suite for a while, smoking inside the suite a lot. You know that smell of old nicotine, right? Imagine this in combination with cleaning staff, trying to cover the smell with a "nice" room fragrance! Doesn't matter if you are a smoker or a non-smoker, this is absolutely unacceptable!

As a "solution" the hotel offered us one of the other rooms, which are not as nice as the suite at all. And they even "offered" us these rooms for a higher price compared with their online price???

We didn't get our deposit back - even after asking them to turn the deposit amount into a voucher for their restaurant. No - not possible.

Unfortunately very unprofessional and that is not the way you should treat unhappy customers that were trying to find a solution even though that was clearly a faux-pas on the Masserias side.

Firstly I’ll explain my review and want to be as fair as possible. I think this place is expensive for what you get, especially when I compare to all the masseria’s we stayed on our trip to the region that were a similar price. On that basis I wouldn’t recommend staying here as there are plenty of better options out there (feel free to message me and I can recommend).

First the positives:

The interior of the rooms are very nice, modern and clean. The design of the room I think is the best bit of the masseria. Nice bathroom, comfortable bed.

The receptionist in the morning, Sara, is very friendly with a warm smile and was helpful with the questions we asked her. Unfortunately she wasn’t there the first day.

The beaches close by are also the highlight of the area and less than 15 mins away. There are some beautiful natural ones in the sand dunes and Lido Posto 9 is a really nice beach club to visit.

The view of the vineyards and the old farmhouse is nice as you drive down the path.

The negatives/where I feel this hotel falls down...

From the website, the marketing of this masseria says the owner wanted to combine winemaking and hospitality. This is what sold us to choose this hotel as our main reason to visit this part of Puglja was for the wine. We’ve travelled to many countries staying at wine resorts to try local wine.. Our view of this hotel is that there isn’t a connection between staying here and the wine. This is where the hotel falls down hugely and is mis-marketed. For a start there isn’t wine tasting available at the hotel to sample their own wines. The views from the rooms do not look out onto the vineyard. There is no explanation about the owner, history of wine growing. There isn’t even any wine in the room minibar for you to try which would have been a nice touch. To us there is no connection between “winemaking and hospitality” other than the hotel rooms sit within the same land as some vineyards.

I would describe this accommodation more as a lodge than a masseria or wine resort or even hotel. The suites are located away from the main farmhouse in modern blocks and almost feel like self contained holiday lodges than hotel rooms. We stayed in several masseria’s on our trip where you stay within the old farmhouse which is full of charm. You often meet the owner/family and feel very much at home. Masseria Le Fabriche is not a masseria in that sense. To us it seemed the beauty of the old masseria building is under-utilised especially as the rooms are tucked away from it. The old farmhouse serves more as a breakfast room and restaurant than a place guests can enjoy. The downstairs feels like a large empty reception that unfortunately lacks the soul and charm or a traditional masseria. The whole of the upstairs is dedicated to the restaurant. There is an adjoining building that seems empty and unused that I assume is only used for conferences. Obviously there is no pool which is just another simple point all the other masseria’s we stayed in had. It’s a shame as this place could have potential but at the moment simply doesn’t compare to the competition, especially given the price.

Downsides of the room, there was no information book in the room.. again a basic of a hotel. Information about the area, wine region, wine tasting tours, beaches etc as well as information about the ‘hotel’ check out time, breakfast time etc should really be in the room. This especially should be provided as in the first day the main helpful receptionist, Sara wasn’t there and the other two people we saw that day couldn’t speak English very well and weren’t able to answer our questions on the area, wine tasting etc. There is a main road that is quite noisy and can be heard from the room (and breakfast room).

The food is average to poor (again especially compared to the standard we received elsewhere for a similar price). Breakfast was the most basic we had.. simple, no eggs etc. The same both days too. We ate once in the restaurant which was ok but we had much better elsewhere. We ordered a bottle of their local wine produced by the house which was not opened in front of us and just came out in a decanter. You would never have that in an upmarket restaurant - the waiter should always open the bottle in front of you. The food was ok but luke warm.. we were planning of having three courses but stopped at two as it wasn’t great.

My review is based on my experience of the region and what you can get for your money. This place unfortunately was the stand out of our trip and really didn’t meet our expectations as marketed on their website nor compare to anywhere else we stayed or ate for a similar price. For that reason I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend Masseria Le Fabriche and have given an average rating as I know there are better options in the same price bracket. We left feeling disappointed. Previous reviews on tripadvisor suggest otherwise (another reason we originally booked this place), although the last review was made 8 months before me so maybe something has changed since then?

After some hectic city seeing in Monopoli, Molfetta, Trani and Polignano a Mare, it was great to go east and enjoy two nights at the very comfortable Le Fabriche near Maruggio. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the farm/vineyard location made for a great opportunity to catch our breath. Forays to Otranto, and then down to Santa Maria di Leuca were breathtaking, with the return to our 'oasis' just right. dinner at the Masseria on the first night was so good, that we returned the following evening. Service throughout was excellent.

Lovely country setting, up against vineyards. Room was spacious, clean, and nicely designed. Huge shower. No alcohol in the minibar. Nice little patio outside the room to look into nature. The two rows of rooms are a few minutes walk from the main building. There, you have a couple of friendly staff on hand. There's a great restaurant that offers a few options each night, good spritzes, and good local wine. It was warm so we ate out on a lovely large terrace overlooking the grounds. Breakfast is nice too, a big spread of local bread, fruit, jams, etc. It's not very wine-centric, but a lovely retreat. A few minutes' drive from the coast and a decent beach club (Posto 9).
