Nestled on pristine white sands, the Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa is often celebrated for its picturesque location and well-kept grounds, just a stone's throw from the airport. The spacious and clean rooms earn praise from guests, as does the friendly service, although some travelers have encountered issues with room readiness and maintenance.
While the resort's ambiance offers lively entertainment, opinions vary regarding outdated decor and occasional noise disruptions. The variety of dining options is a hit, but guests have voiced concerns about the resort's value, citing unexpected fees and unmet expectations for the price.

Nice resort, staff very warm and helpful. Shoutout to our butlers Mr. G and Mr. Garon who very very helpful. Highly recommend you book with a butler, you were able to make dinner reservations this way and not wait on a long line for the first come first serve option. Butler Mr. G made us feel like VIP’s often picking us up and bringing us to dinner, bringing us drinks and offering to bring us food poolside. He helped our husband Husband book tee time to golf and anything we needed in our room both the Butler’s were extremely helpful in getting that to us as soon as possible, such as extra towels or washing machine detergent for doing laundry. The pools are not heated, but we enjoyed them as well as the protected beach area where you can swim easily, and we appreciated. The catamaran rides provided free of charge as well as use of equipment and the daily lively beach volleyball games. The food was OK, some restaurants better than others and some places you did have to wait a long time to get served your food. The best bartender is named Keron aka Mr. K or Special K as the other staff lovingly call him, who made excellent drink drinks and always brought upbeat vibes and a big smile. We tried to tip the staff wherever we went. I personally would not return to the resort due to one particular daily experience, which is the nightly entertainment, which was extremely loud and difficult to put the children to bed as well as to rest or hear the ocean. The nightly entertainment runs usually from 8:15 to 9:30 PM but sometimes to 9:45 PM as the DJ would continue to play. Even with noise cancellation headphones on, you could still hear the music. This personally felt very stressful, especially after a long day doing activities when you wanted to just rest and relax. There was literally no way to get away from the sound. In addition in our suite when you sit on the balcony in the morning, all you could hear were fans or the sound of kitchen noises next-door. The room could definitely use some updating and the bed unfortunately was not comfortable. The staff and the Butler’s overall made up for anything that felt negative, and this provided a wonderful experience in terms of their service.

My friend and I stayed from Oct 8-15, 2023. It was a very relaxing, fun and pleasurable stay for the both of us. Here are the specific details on our stay! It's sort of a long post as I feel there are so many points to cover on why this stay was so fantastic.
STAFF: This was main reason our stay was so memorable - the amazing staff! Everyone we encountered at the resort was very warm, genuinely friendly, approachable, funny and made you feel very welcome. Let's start with the entertainment staff: Suzie, Micah, Delando and Carmela worked hard everyday to keep everyone entertained and they were so fun and personable. Not only did they interact with us daily, they also were all talented in their own way. They all either sang, danced, DJ'd etc...each one seemed to have multiple talents that they used to interact with guests. Sanjay and Kerrol (AKA Special K) made us the BEST drinks at the swim up bar and also knew everyone by name. Some of the best times were spent chilling at the swimup bar because of them! Our favourite spa staff were Amanda and Chavroy. Amanda catered our spa appointment to fit our budget, always greeted us around the resort with her beautiful smile and cheerful hellos and Chavroy ensured we found our way around the spa and even served us food/drinks after our treatments by the mineral pool. Adainnas (I hope that is the correct spelling) was our housekeeper for the week and she was the sweetest person who chatted with us like we were old friends. She always kept our room clean. Also I would like to add that anytime we needed more towels, bathrobes, help with the safe etc...it was a quick response from the front desk. I had a specific unforgettable experience with Leontashae (Leon for short) from marketing and Shantoi - the supervisor at the gift shop. I was approached by Leon who asked me if I would be interested in doing a photoshoot/video to promote the resort and gift shop. I was nervous at first to do it but soon felt very comfortable because of them. They directed me on what to do and the pictures turned out great from what I saw! They were both very passionate about their jobs. Shantoi shared with me that she travels 2 hours to work and back and has no complaints about it because she loves her job so much. Both Leon and Shantoi made me feel so comfortable - like I was hanging out with 2 old friends for the afternoon! Leon also surprised my friend by arranging balloons and a happy birthday sign at our dinner at the steak house. He went over and above to make her feel special on her birthday! Cake and wine were also sent to our room for her birthday. Kevin was in charge of anything fitness and gave us a great tour of the gym, told us about the fitness classes and was very welcoming and would be the first person to greet you at the gym before your workout. Another outstanding experience we had was at the Pierside restaurant . Our teppanyaki chef Subrenia was hilarious and had us all singing, dancing and laughing during dinner all while making us a tasty meal! She deserves a raise! There was a couple seated beside us that enjoyed it so much they told us it was their second time at the restaurant and they specifically came back again because of Subrenia. We also tried to return again but unfortunately the teppanyaki was fully booked. My last shout out is for one of the resort butlers Chantell. Yes this resort has butlers depending on what accommodation you have I believe. She was not our butler but she started chatting with us during one of our dinners. We mentioned to her that we wished our room had a full length mirror. By the time we went back to our room later that night, there was a full length mirror in our room! Absolutely everyone we encountered at the resort went over and above to make us feel special and welcome. Thank you Jewel Grande! We can't wait to come back.
Here are more pieces of info that may be helpful. RESORT GROUNDS: - clean and beautiful - beach was a great size and never had an issue finding beach loungers. Cabanas available for extra fee. Not many umbrellas for shade so if you need shade, take that into consideration - There are 2 pools - one pool seemed to be more for the families and the other pool had all the fun activities and swim-up bar - 3 buildings but each are pretty quick to get to. I saw a couple people in wheelchairs at the resort so I believe that it is wheel chair accessible - 2 gazebos on site that are the perfect place to meditate, take photos, get married, and I think you can even have a romantic dinner set up there for extra fee ACTIVITIES: - daily fitness classes either at the gym or the pool - many non-motorized water sports available at the beach - during our stay, karaoke, dancing and silent DJ were all held at the clubhouse lounge/lobby and were really fun! - there is an onsite spa and gym. The gym had pretty much all the equipment needed and the spa, although was a bit expensive - was an amazing and very relaxing experience! There was a salt room, dry and wet sauna and mineral pools all at the spa. During our treatments at the spa, there was literally no one else in the sauna and mineral pools so we had the whole place to ourselves and it was fantastic! FOOD/DRINK: - I found drinks were great! Extensive drink menu and the bartenders certainly did not skimp out on the booze! - Great wine selection! Most all inc resorts I have stayed at had poor quality house wines but not at the Jewel Grande! I really liked their house wines! - Our favourite restaurants were Waves, Le Bouchon and Pierside. This resort was the only All inclusive resort I have been to that actually knew how to properly season and cook a steak! -I love that they have a juice/smoothie bar and a coffee/dessert cafe. - The buffet was open for breakfast and lunch and always had a great selection for all tastes. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Outdoor seating had a beautiful view of the ocean ROOMS: - we stayed in an oceanfront junior suite and it was huge! - very clean and spacious. - comfy beds! - huge balcony facing the ocean - huge bathroom included a separate tub - as mentioned above, our room didn't have a full length mirror but if you need one, it seems you can request it! - I believe there are 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites available and a penthouse suite too. Some suites also come with butler service

Just wrapped up our 5 day/4 night stay at the Jewel Grande in Montego Bay! Our group consisted of my husband and I (33yo), our son (2yo) and my in-laws (65yo). We stayed in a two bedroom suite.
Let me preface this by saying this is my first experience staying at an all-inclusive. Overall we had a positive experience, largely due to the friendliness of the staff, but there were definitely some set backs.
When we arrived, it was immediately apparent that things run on island time. My in-laws got to the hotel around 3pm and were told our suite wasn’t ready yet. We got there at 4:30 and were told the same thing. Finally we got to our suite around 5:30pm. Similar instance with dinner. We were told it was a buffet that started at 6:30, we arrived right at 6:30 (because we have a 2yo) and the buffet didn’t actually open until 7pm. During dinner they had live Jamaican music which was fun, but played until 9:30pm and was extremely loud even from our room (this ended up being every night). I don’t think either of these things would have been stressful if we were traveling without a child, but it was challenging with one.
The resort itself was clean, but not new by any means. The bathrooms in the lobbies/restaurants throughout felt especially old and in need of an upgrade. The lobby and elevators were not air conditioned, but the rooms got nice and cold. We also lost power momentarily twice during our stay. Both times it was just a few minutes, but would have been scary in the elevator.
Overall the food was good. Some restaurants certainly better than others. When we went (MLK jr week) it was not near capacity, so we had no issues getting reservations. LeBouchon (steak house) was the best, Pierside (hibachi) also was good, moonstone (Italian) was a good outdoor ambiance but food was average. The smoothie/juice bar in the spa was a hidden gem!
I left definitely seeing the appeal of an all-inclusive resort, but wouldn’t plan on coming back here specifically.
Toddlers/Kids: LeBouchon and Moonstone have a kids menu. There’s a changing table in the lobby bathroom, but not most bathrooms. We didn’t try the kids club, but the staff was very kid-friendly, so I’d imagine it would be fun for them. Beach toys are available for purchase in the gift shop (not complimentary). There were lots of stairs at the resort that were unavoidable - not stroller friendly. Our suite had a washer/dryer and detergent upon request which was very helpful.

Resort is old - no bars open late but they still charge like sandals or other high end resorts and then try to cut corners to make even more money. Spend your money somewhere else which will give you an actual all inclusive experience
No alcohol in the rooms - well 4 beers only
Unlike Riu - Sandals - moon palace - there is no liquor or wine in the rooms . We rented a king suite for almost $600 USD per night and
I have bad ankles and can’t walk well so I don’t want to have to go all the way to the bottom floor at 12 at night to get a beer and then find everything closed
Room service brings warm beer- and wants a $10 charge for delivering it to your room
After calling the front desk an complaining loudly we finally got the service manager Tyrone who worked hard to make it right
Food and buffets slow

I’ll start by stating, we’ve visited Jamaica five times prior to this trip. This resort is a THREE star AT BEST now. It may have been a 4.5 star previously. Not anymore. It’s run down and needs an overhaul.
The Good.
There are SOME staff members that genuinely care that you have a great experience. The lobby bar has premium liquor. The late night bartender that’s older is great. He memorizes everyone’s drink preferences and refills your drinks without requesting a refill. The breakfast buffet is good. The steak house served a great ribeye. The restaurant managers are responsive and care about your experience. I had an issue that was immediately and satisfactorily resolved. The jerk chicken provided at the food hut is delicious. The ocean view from our room was beautiful.
The Bad: Most employees are rude and couldn’t care less about providing a decent customer experience. The lunch and dinner food tastes and looks like leftovers from the previous meals. Every bar except the main lobby serves bottom shelf liquor. Even when requested, they will refuse to serve anything besides the bottom shelf liquor. After observing someone tip a pool bartender, a mediocre bottle of liquor appeared. I then tipped and could get better alcohol by the pool. After breakfast, no one cleans the pool area; dirty dishes, food, and debris remains until the pool is closed and cleaned the overnight/morning staff.
In short, don’t stay here. We will not be back.

We called directly to make reservations and got an excellent deal and an excellent room because of it. We had a beautiful oceanfront view from Building A. The room included a large bathtub adjacent to the bedroom. When we called for some bubble bath solution, we were offered a package to have someone come run a bubble bath for us. While we appreciate extravagances, we thought that was a bit much. Though we had a full kitchen, we were stocked with two coffee cups and two crystal glasses. We had to call and request plates, silverware, and laundry detergent. The refrigerator was stocked daily with water, Coke, and Sprite. The facility has lasted the test of time, continuing to get bookings based on its name and reputation. However, they really need to clean the furniture and address small cosmetic issues with its furniture and rooms. Everything you sit on that is upholstered needs to be cleaned. This includes the inside as well as the outside. During our stay, our bath mats were removed and not replaced more than once. And once all of our towels were taken and not replaced. We tried every restaurant. We appreciated the variety but really only enjoyed the jerk port/chicken at Crickets Bar and the options at Le Bouchon, the steak house. Breakfast was always good and everything else was a crapshoot. While I know many people want to feel they are getting their money's worth in their drinks, we found the drinks to be too strong. I am a light-weight drinker but my companion also found them to be too strong at times. The serving staff is EXCELLENT. We especially had a great time at the beach utilizing the non-motorized services.

We stayed at a junior king suite on the fourth floor in building C for two weeks in February
While not in mint condition the suite was really great, everything functioned well, and the cleaning was impeccable. It was very spacious and with a great view of the ocean. Building C is next to the evening entertainment stage but shows end at 9:30 PM so even the nights we were back before that it did not bother us.
The good things: • Amazingly friendly staff – always smiling and making all efforts to make you feel welcome (we did not have butler service) and we were taken very good care of. • The suite • Almost never waiting line at the bars – and they served very nice cocktails 😊 • The steakhouse – great food • We enjoyed the hot tubs a lot in the late afternoons as the beach is in the shade from around 4:30 PM. One note is that the no children under 16 rule is not adhered to which sometimes was annoying but there were also some sweet kids from time to time 😊
Things that could be better • The beach – it was clean and they did a lot to remove seaweed, so that did not bother us. However, the area for swimming is so small and shallow that it is more like a giant kids pool. The number of sunbeds is fine, but there are way too few umbrellas, especially ones you can fold up and down based on need • Sometimes there were a lot of waiting for dinner service, which did improve in our second week when they opened the buffet restaurant for dinner • We did not use the pools as they are in the shade most of the day • The service at the guest desk in the main lobby was the only place we received less than great service, incl. failed dinner reservations, frequently absent during “opening hours” and not getting back when promised
Excursions/Trips in Jamaica are really expensive especially the transportation part, whereas entrance fees are more reasonable.
We did not try the SPA as it was heavily overpriced.
Bring lots of small bills for tipping. Note that there is no ATM at the hotel but you can walk to the hotel next door (not via the beach though) where there is an ATM. You might be told they should take you, but I easily walked.

We are a family of 5 and stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean front butler suite in building B. The room was very large but very dated. The pull out couch was too thin for even a child to sleep on, the washer and dryer kept breaking, and 2 of the 3 bathrooms had no water pressure so we all used just one bathroom. We also had an issue with moths (lots of them) in one of the beds and on day 1 we asked house keeping to clean the shower because it was covered with mildew. The butlers were great. The made our dinner reservations, brought us a cooler at the pool, and brought laundry detergent when asked. I was surprised they were not able to reserve a spot for us at the pool like other resorts and so we had to get up and go out every morning at 6 just to get chairs. The entertainment is not on par with other all inclusive resorts. At the pool there was little music other than a CD of the same Bob Marley songs on repeat. They played good music during water aerobics and then turned it off. I feel without question our experience would have been improved greatly by having a DJ at the pool and continuous trivia or games for all. At night, they would have no music playing during dinner hours and then a cheesy low budget something at 8:30 followed by an adult only DJ. When traveling with kids to a resort, you expect there to be entertainment but we were disappointed. The beach was the biggest disappointment because it was so filled with seaweed, we never went it. Also, there were no umbrellas at the beach other than the cabanas or about 5 near the water activities. The drinks used all well liquor or cheap wine. They have some top shelf liquor in the lobby bar but it is a cost up charge. I only drink Baileys and they had it one day and never again so my entire stay I had nothing I enjoyed drinking. If you don’t mind well liquor, the frozen drinks are perfect. The food was okay, but with kids it was hard. We went to the steakhouse two nights because it had the best selection for my children and the food was not consistent. One night it was delicious and the other, just okay. Hibachi was good but the experience want entertaining and it was so hot and Smokey. Staff: the best part of the resort was the staff. They were lovely. The butlers, the waitstaff, bartenders, and pool staff. The staff makes this resort. I probably would not return to this resort and would not recommend it, but had a nice time.

Pros Resort grounds beach and pool are nice Hotel rooms are big and spacious The Staff is what makes this resort. The servers/ bartenders, maintenance and engineering are friendly kind and they are very hardworking.
Cons Outside of your hotel room there is little to no air conditioning. Hallways/elevator have no air conditioning and the restaurant air conditioning is minimal The food is ok but could be better and the menu options are not what you would expect. The food is more like 3 star then 5 star. You cannot open your sliding glass door on your hotel room without creating a wet slick tile floor to slip on (this is because of how the hotel rooms are ventilated ) They put in water efficient toilets but they are constantly jamming and water will run continuously. They tell you upon checking in no reservation are needed at dinner except at pierside restaurant. We made reservation with guest services for pierside and then the restaurant did not have our reservation. Also butlers/concierge make reservations for their guests at multiple restaurants and so you may need to wait while tables are being held for these guests.
For Management Management needs to invest in air conditioning or even ceiling fans in restaurants change the toilets as the water efficient toilets are truly not working well. Management should make sure house keeping is going into rooms making beds and bringing fresh towels. Management should also revamp menu options at restaurants in accordance with the restaurant theme. Management should figure out why when you make a reservation at pierside through guest services the restaurant is not receiving the reservation. And management should have front desk tell guests at check in to make reservations at restaurants since butlers are doing it and holding tables for other guests
