The owner, Ian, and his dog gave us a warm welcome as soon as we came through the gate. Ian was just lovely and spent a significant amount of time sharing with us the history of his 700+ year old castle. The rooms were massive and sadly, we were only staying one night so we were not able to take...

Sue and Ian are one of the best hosts I ever had the pleasure of meeting. They gave us suggestions on where to go, what to see and general information for our trip. They even extended help beyond our stay by keeping a look out and receiving 2 of our luggage which was unfortunately delayed by 11 days from our...

Lovely welcome from Sue & Ian. A 14th century turetted castle just outside of Edinburgh. This castle was due to be demolished but a couple came along & saved it-great, they have done a fabulous job of bringing IT back to its former glory. We had rooms in the back (older part) of the castle, up circular stairs- one floor...

Although we live locally we have always been intrigued by this castle, and we were not disappointed. We had an enormous lounge with every extra you could want, a bedroom with a 7' square bed, and an en suite with a beautiful bath and shower. The battlements on the roof had an exceptional view of the coastline and beyond. Certainly...

This Romantic Castle exceeded my expectations. There are two floors below the advertised rooms to rent so the Castle twice as tall. It looks like someone parked the Titanic on top of the hill as you turn the last corner. Very authentic and very Fanciful. We booked 4 nights and wanted to stay longer. There was more than ample food...

My wife booked us a night here for our one night stay in Edinburgh. Wow, what a location with stunning views. Wow, the inside is just as stunning with a living hall on one floor, a huge bedroom (and bed) with bathroom on the next floor and then the top of the tower for those views. Su and Ian were...

The reason we chose Fascide castle was because of the trip advisor reviews so read them - they are 'spot on' . Our experience was outstanding and unique. We had 3 sunny days which meant breathtaking views from everywhere from the roof to the grounds in morning and night. Susan and Ian could not have been more gracious and helpful....

I was brought up in nearby Inveresk and used to play in the ruins of the castle as a young boy in the fifties. So I was surprised to find it had been restored and rebuilt and of course had to add it to my bucket list as somewhere to visit. Even better when I found they took paying guests!...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
...At the top of the 14th century old tower within Faside Castle lies our B & B accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to to a roof top walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning? The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide Emperor bed and their is a TV with DVD player in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite.Guests staying in the Tower Vaults also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle, the Great Hall. This magnificent old room has an original stone built fireplace with a log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Beside the window there are stone window seats built into the thick castle walls. In the corner of the room are what remains of the now inaccessible old staircase.Up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie. Behind the tartan curtain is an original stone toilet called the "Laird's Lug" where the Lairds could listen to their prisoners down in the dungeon. In 2010 we commissioned an artist to paint the ceiling and a photo of this can be seen in the photo section.A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy in the bedroom suite at their leisure and tea and coffee facilities are provided in the suite. From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. ... more   less
