We were bowled away by the food in this restaurant - very tasty, beautifully presented from Parsnip Veloute to Blackberry Mousse each mouthful was to be savoured slowly! Excellent service and thoughtful wine list.

Don't let the filtered photography and lifestyle shots fool you with this pretty shambolic outfit. Yes the rooms look nice to the eye, in fact they look jaw droppingly gorgeous when you first arrive, but in truth they condensate, are cold, the floor was filthy dirty and they are pretty damned noisy both from the adjoining rooms and the main...

Stayed over a weekend. The restaurant was delicious and the room incredibly comfortable. Some brilliant personal touches. Just 1 min walk from beautiful beach. Can't think of anything to criticize. Highlight was the service. Staff were very helpful at all times and couldn't have been nicer. I highly recommend staying here!

I had the pleasure of staying at this Gem of a privately owned hotel literally a few minutes walk to Camber sands beach! Different by design and my wife and I enjoyed one of the best massages for some time in their "Beach Hut" which was fantastic. We have travelled extensively and been spoilt by many hotels globally but this...

a night at the Gallivant with dinner is a real treat for a quick midweek break with your dog. It is accross the road from the wonderful Camber sands beach which is perfect for a leisurely dog walk. The staff cant do enough for you. We had a lovely stay

If The Gallivant just promoted itself as a restaurant with rooms, with comfortable basic rooms to crash in for the night after visiting the restaurant, then I'd probably rate the rooms as OK and just mention the very pricey food and drink. However since it's promoted as a destination in its own right, to the extent of requiring two night...

We had been recommended The Gallivant by several people and arrived to a lovely reception and a complimentary sloe gin spritzer in the cosy bar area. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are v helpful. Our room was great, if a little warm but we had french doors opening on to small terrace. The evening meal with delicious...

It's been too long since we have been back here. We loved it before and it's improved. The staff are truly excellent; and the newly refurbished rooms very luxurious. A far cry from when we first came. Dinner and breakfast were of a high quality by London standards. And most of all we had a really wonderful time. Thank you!

Booked here for new year, a package that included special dinner etc Easy to find, and well situated across the road from the beach and between rye and dungeness this is really special place to stay. A relaxed atmosphere, scrupulously clean rooms that are beautifully decorated with all you could need, and more. We had a cosy cabin which was...

It was very quiet when we spent a couple of days here - which meant we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a luxury garden room. As many people have said already, the wealth of small touches (books, free water, good coffee maker, excellent bath/hair products in decent sizes etc) all serve to elevate what is really just a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our coastal restaurant with rooms, across the road from the dunes of Camber Sands and beautiful sandy beach beyond. Inspired by the coastal motels you might find in California, we're a calm and relaxing hideaway from the stresses and strains of modern life. We have 20 amazing bedrooms all decorated with an eye to the Hamptons and serve great food using almost exclusively locally sourced fresh ingredients. In 2016 we were included in The Times 'Coolest Beach Hotels - No. 4', The Mirror's 'Top 10 Seaside Hotels in the UK' and Squaremeal's 'UK's Best 100 Restaurants'. The private coastal garden incorporates mini secluded decks behind all the Garden and Luxury Garden rooms and is also home to The Beach Hut, where guests can enjoy relaxing massages and lovely facials after a day on the beach using ethical and natural health and beauty products that are exclusively blended in the UK. ... more   less
