We want to stay here forever :-) The hotel-family is so generous, friendly and we really felt at home. The rooms are basic, the atmosphere is familiar. We came by car and enjoyed the view to this place. A member of the hotel family can bring you at the time you'd like to San Maria .

Rustic family-run hotel with charming simplicity. Hotel guests were treated as family friends. Ok, we visited Exari in the low season and were almost the only guests. Perfect for hikers who want to take it easy and check the nearby mountains prior the Samaria Gorge. Not many hotels have their own goats - and own cheese factory! Be ready to...

It is a very basic hotel, looks nice from the outside but dated inside. It is just on the main road to the gorge, there is nothing else around so bring plenty of food if you are planning on staying and not eating in the restaurant. Staff very friendly, and breakfast okay (just bread, croissants and boiled eggs). Would not...

Was on a self guided walking holiday with headwater. Hotel was chosen for us. It was what we expected, small, clean and comfortable. We had no choice of meal but it was delicious. Breakfast wasn't great but no worse than other places on Crete. Had a good packed lunch. Transfers to the gorge was fine and our luggage arrived at...

The hotel was made in 80s and has not changed since then. Our bathroom was literally breaking down (no lights!). The restaurant is poor offering frozen mills. No hospitality with raki and fruits, forget it. It s not a place that offers anything for free. I explicitly asked if the breakfast was included in the price. It appeared to be...

Me and my friend were on a mission to visit the Somaria Gorge. We setted of from Malia (terrible place: for drunks and clubbers). We hired a 4x4 and made our way to Somaria; unfortunately when we got there the gorge was closed and was due to re-open the next day (Saturday 7am). We were dissappointed, but then decided to...
