About
Description
Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion. This attractive structure was built in 1890 by Don Rafael Almada, a wealthy and influential "alcalde" (mayor) who spent five years and 100,000 gold pesos on More its construction. The wooden trim was made from 285 Canadian red pine beams. Don Rafael's mansion was the largest and most beautiful in El Fuerte. It was built just below the old fort, and has four layers of brick and adobe construction. The iron work was brought from Mazatlan. Less

This was an excellent hotel. Rooms cosy and clean. Beautiful setting. Interesting that Zorro turns up in the bar. Lovely gardens. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Would return to this hotel if in the area.

We had been led to believe that we would not find much of interest in El Fuerte but this hotel proved that idea to be wrong. Beautiful old colonial style, much prettier than we expected and so close to everything in the center of town....More

This is a quaint hotel situated at the city center. You could simply walk around within a two mile radius and you would have already seen El Fuerte. The hotel staff is efficient but the rooms need updating. Our room was not the most comfortable...More

Stayed one night. Charming hotel but not functional. Soundproofing completely lacking. Room was facing the street and it was very noisy: loud music, noise from a community basketball court on the other side of the street (they start playing at 06:00 in the morning), loud...More

As long as you stay there, you can park your vehicle in their very small lot behind the hotel that they lock-up at night. Therefore, your vehicle needs to be very small and compact otherwise, it won't fit! We have a large... More

Yes to both questions. We stayed in two different rooms. A more expensive and larger room before taking the train and a smaller, less expensive room upon our return. Both had two beds and walk in showers. Please note... More
