Eleven Birdwatching friends stayed for 3 nights. We chose The Borve because of it’s location on the north west coast of Lewis, very close to The Butt of Lewis where we planned to spend some time. The Borve exceeded all our expectations. Large, very comfortable rooms & very friendly staff to welcome us. Everywhere seemed freshly cleaned & refurbed, & Covid restrictions were in place. There was a hiccup with the food, the chef didn’t arrive to make breakfast!!!! Management were beside themselves, so apologetic & embarrassed. We will never know why it happened, just one of those things I guess. The food quality was superb, all cooked from scratch by the taste, so inevitably service was rather slow. Perfect if on a relaxing break, but if The Borve wish to attract groups of birders/walkers a simpler menu would suffice. Time is of the essence to most groups we have been away with & most of us are perfectly happy to grab cereal, eggs & toast for breakfast rather than wait. The Borve also provided packed lunches, which again the quality was very good. This review is in no way critical of The Borve. It’s an excellent place to stay & we would 100% recommend it. Maybe they are trying a bit too hard to please all of the people all of the time. We wish them all the very best for the future

Booked one of 4 self catering units in the grounds of the Hotel Well equipped and comfortable. The hotel itself is pristine, freshly painted sparkling white with beautifully manicured lawns and extensive children’s play area. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff and the ingenuity of the chef has to be commended. Lots of local produce used and cooked to perfection. Full Scottish breakfast is included even for those like us who are self catering if we wish to take advantage. Will definitely stay again

stayed in one of the chalets for a week and honestly couldn't fault it. Comfy beds, great shower, lots of space and spotless. Manageress popped up a few minutes after we arrived and let us know anything we needed just to ask. Hotel does takeaway food so you can phone up and order off the menu and they deliver it to the chalet...... truly on holiday.

We had a two day stay in one of the chalets as it was dog friendly! It was absolutely spotless, loads of space, all mod cons and a lovely decking to watch the sun go down with a view of the sea too. The staff were wonderfully friendly, the breakfast was top notch, I had the full Scottish two days running, lovely Lorne sausage and perfect poached eggs! We had the take away menu from the restaurant and chose the Thai dishes! Totally exceeded my expectations- then we discovered they had a Thai chef - and it shows! I would highly recommend this gem 👍!
