Having just climbed MT Kinabalu we were in need of a Iittle luxury to recover. Bunga Raya is very comfortable and provided everything we were looking for, good food, happy hour drinks, great swimming pool and nice beach. It is low low season so not all the watersports were available but we had a restful recovery time. Malay massage was... More

If you are looking for a place to relax then this place it the complete package. It is a combination of all you are looking for in a nature tour. Great beach, as if you own it. The water is clear and just a little further from the shore is an excellent snorkelling spot where you can find a lot... More

We spent a day here for snorkelling and kayaking while we were staying on another resort on Gaya Island. We arrived about 10am, and were given snorkelling equipment and towels and pretty much left to our own devices. It was lovely and tranquil. There were only 6 or 7 people there. We saw loads of colourful fish and corals, including... More

We just checked out with Bunga Raya Island Resort. A big thank you to all the great and well trained staff in this beautiful resort. The have made the last few days of our holiday so very special. This resort is a true hidden pleasure and treasure in Sabah. Even now during the "raining season" there is enough sunshine and... More

We wanted to experience luxury but still enjoy the wild life and Bunga Raya did not disappoint. we knew we would love it when the staff told us not to leave fruit out otherwise the monkeys might come and eat it. to this day my wife compares all spas she visits to the spa at Bunga Raya.

We spent three days at this resort doing pretty much nothing. The resort itself is very pretty and getting around on buggies is really quite fun. That said, I just felt like they could do a little more. They advertised shisha in the restaurant, only to tell me that the one shisha they had was broken. They did say they'd... More

Stayed for 4 nights in very large House, actually not used the annex. Beautiful small island with many offerings in terms of snorkling.sailing, hiking etc. Restaurants disappointing with high proces and menu cards not very exciting. Friendly but not well trained staff, often leading to long waiting times and misunderstandings.

After a somewhat dodgy start to our stay (our plunge pool was grubby and unappealing), we found we enjoyed the resort more as each day passed. Once we had spoken to the Manager (extremely congenial character), the problem with our plunge pool was sorted out, a satisfactory explanation given to us, and the food just seemed to get better and... We stayed in a beautiful villa high on the property overlooking the bay. The views were fantastic, surrounded by jungle, macaques in the trees and large wild boar ambling around the property. The service was excellent and the food superb. If you are near Kota Kinabalu, seriously think about staying here. It was one of the highlights of our 7... More

My wife and I loved our week at Bunga Raya. Our room location was great, only 15 meters to the beach. I enjoyed waking up and wandering out for a swim in the morning. It's a nice little resort about 40 or so separate guest houses that are scattered around in the jungle setting so wide range of levels of... More
