Really great hotel Villa's are lovely and the rooms and premises are really clean and well looked after. Staff are friendly, polite & very helpful. Restaurant facilities are amazing- the main restaurant serves pretty much anything you could want but cooked to a good standard (not your typical buffet stuff). Perfect for relaxing getaway but also activities available if sun...

[NB - review is from April 2015 but forgot to upload sooner!] Gaya Island, privately owned by the hotel, is about 30 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu harbour. This means two things - 1) the setting of the resort and beach is absolutely stunning and 2) they can charge whatever the hell prices they like because it's a captive...

The hotel is good, with great rooms build into the rain forest with a lot of privacy and great views of the island. Service is great, and all the staff is very helpful and attend to most of your needs. However as many others have noted, food on the island is very expensive to be Malaysia and average at best....

We spent 7 days at the end of our trip at Gaya Island Resort. On arrival we were amazed by the stunning beauty of the place, after touring around the rest of Borneo it was a welcomed surprise. Greeted with a refreshing drink and hot towel to freshen up, we waited in the plush reception. We were informed of all...

It takes only 10 minutes to get to the Natinonal Park from the beach of Kota Kinabalu. It's hot in June, but it is beautiful ! If I were asked to recommend a holiday spot within a short-distant flight within Asian regions, YTL hotel resorts will be on my pocket list. On top of the beautiful sights and the sandy...

We desperately wanted to love Gaya Island Resort, and in some ways we did. Sadly, in others it let us down. Let me start with the good: - The resort itself is absolutely gorgeous; stunning white sand and beautiful jungle, peace and quiet, huge, very well appointed rooms and friendly, smiling staff. - On the subject of the staff: Jeff,...

I have traveled to Sabah in many occasions from the top of its mountain down to the islands. I must admit that I always enjoy staying here for many reasons, e.g. good people, good food particularly cheap seafood, and many other beautiful scenery it can offers. But I never step my foot on Gaya Island, maybe because it is probably...

The location, the villa style, and the room design were all stunningly beautiful and relaxing. The staff all say hello and good morning with big smiles. The beach is constantly cleaned and groomed. And the coral here is beautiful - there is a private snorkelling area just right off the pier. I recommend the guided nature trail. There is also...

This resort on the island of Gaya is just spectacular!!! It is the most relaxing place I have ever been to. The resort rooms are beautiful as is all the rest of the resort! Lush rainforests meet the ocean, just so tranquil.. You can simply do nothing or you can swim, go kayaking or snorkel in the ocean. Do yoga...
