While it may be shoulder season for the fishing resort, there are still big fish in the ocean waiting to be caught. Professionally guided fishing trips are available for an extra cost (everything else is included).

While it is a rainforest, the weather on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island is highly variable. We had the full palette of weather at the first Craft Beer and Wilderness Retreat, rain, sun and fog.

We stayed at this resort July 25-28... they could not have been more receptive and welcoming. It was our first time here. The service staff were always friendly.. The place was clean and organized. The food was creative and tasty! It's one thing to provide great service but the true mark of a company is how they handle problems. We had a fish process issue (which was not the resort fault).. but regardless they went over and beyond to ensure that we were looked after. It was resolved quickly and by multiple levels of management.... That to me shows the true depth of service and professionalism. We will be back next year!!

What a great place! The staff is incredible, taking care of anything you may need or want. Dayle runs a very organized lodge, and it looks that all her employees love her! Fishing is good, the islands surrounding he lodge are beautiful! All meals are made specially for you, the food is absolutely top notch! Appetizers at 5:30, Dinner made by Yanz is the best! His soups and desserts are great! You won't be disappointed if you spend any time at all at Nootka Sound Resort!

Nootka Sound Resort will take your mind off your to do list as your mind is occupied with eagles, snow capped mountains, and pristine fishing waters. The rooms are clean and comfy and the staff is delightful. Their chef is 5 star and the living is easy. I'd highly recommend this place.

Had an awesome time, chef Kimberly does amazing meals for a floating lodge. The rooms had great beds and the staff were very friendly. The fishing outside was everything I expected and to see humpback whales at 10',huge pod of grey whales and killers completely out of water and spy hopping. Unbelievable experience, thanks! Will be back soon!

We recently visited NSR for 4 days and 3 nights of fishing, dinning and stunning views.
The fishing was incredible!! Our guide Brent was fantastic! He kept an immaculate boat that was super clean and very well equipped. He taught us how to reel in the big ones and took us to every spot where we found them. I was lucky enough to bring in a 25 lbs Spring Salmon and I will never forget that experience. Brent was not only a great guide but he was also great company. In the lulls between catching a lot of fish he would diligently work the lines and lures and maintain easy and interesting conversation with us. I know that he said that he was looking to retire but if you ask for him, and get him, he'll make your whole trip.
The resort is also top notch. The food is 5 star, the rooms are beautiful and the staff is so on point that you will never want for anything. Those men and women have thought of everything. Need a thermos of coffee for the boat? It's already packed. Want wine with dinner? It's already at your table. Dayle (I'm not sure of her title) is one of the most organised women that I have ever encountered and she strives to make every moment of your trip memorable.
Nootka Sound is stunning. From rolling open sea to green glass channels the water is sure to keep you taking photos and the sharp hills that surround the waters are green and lush. Also, it's not uncommon to see otters, seals, whales and jumping salmon.
NSR provides one of the most memorable experiences that Canada has to offer.

We have wanted to go salmon fishing on the west coast of Vancouver Island for a long time. Our friend researched and booked us into Nootka Sound Resort for a week. Wondered at the time if it would be too long. Ad an awesome adventure. The fishing was stupendous but the food, accommodation and staff made it unparalelled!!!!! Would highly recommend to anyone who loves to fish and appreciates 5 star service. Kimberly the chef was delightful, using fresh herbs and produce from her garden to enhance delicious meals. Celia in the morning was always smiling and provided hearty breakfasts to send us on our way. The resort staff, all 4 of them were so helpful and able to provide for all our needs. Absolutely the best! You guys will be remembered always!

Took our son for a college graduation adventure trip and it was amazing. We love to fish and this was our first experience with being "spoiled" while vacation-fishing. Everyone was so nice, accommodating and knowledgeable. The facilities were well equipped & super clean. Sleeping on the water is just special and the beds are comfy. Maybe stayed up a little too late, glued to the pool table for a night of fun and libations - but that just adds to the challenge of chasing after those early AM fish. We booked a guided trip (to get the lay of the waters), as well as renting one of their boats. The boats are terrific and come with all your basic fishing needs. PS- don't bother bringing rain gear, they provide you HH.
Chef Josh and staff know how to lay out a meal!! NOTE: Fish hard and come back HUNGRY! Each course, every night was something to ponder upon while out on water, waiting to reel in the next big one. I don't mean large portions of your every day food fare...We got to enjoy a true artist at work - the food was amazing. We also had fun with picking from a huge assortment of lunch items, to pack up and take out on the water. Can't say enough about how much fun we had - a huge shout out to all the employees who made our trip so darn memorable - THANKS.

Wasn't really sure what to expect when I was going out to a floating resort, but it completely exceeded what I had in mind! The guides were professional and personal. The first day was out with the young blood up-and-coming guide, Logan who has been there for four seasons and is no stranger to catching fish and having fun doing it. The second day was with the legendary pro-guide, Kooter, who was a blast to be out in the water and fish with! The staff at the resort were always helpful and courteous. The maintenance technician was on top of any problem that arose.
The kitchen staff led by Executive Chef (Josh) produced the most amazing dishes I've ever experienced thus far in life. Breakfasts were helmed by the Sous Chef (Alex). The two make an amazing team with great flow imagination and execution in the kitchen. Cannot wait to go back!
Good luck team!

Just got back from a 4- night stay with 3- days of fishing. Great location, the place was clean and neat. Everything you need and more. The crew was top notch and the food was amazing. The fishing was great as well, we caught our limits on Kings and silvers and then rounded out the day with bottom fishing. After 3- days my arms were tired from reeling in fish. The crew took care of the fish right away and when we were leaving it was all package and ready to go. The crew did an excellent job. After a long day of fishing my favorite thing was sitting around the outdoor fire pit and enjoying the view. Will return again.

Hi Janet, Sorry I did not see this until now. Unfortunately we had to suspend operations out of Nootka Sound Resort due to CoVid-19. Moutcha Bay Resort (one of our three resorts) has accommodations available year round. Let me know if you have any questions!
