Kimberley and her staff are extremely well organized and obliging in every way - docking assistance, arrival greeting and assistance, fish handling and processing, available rain gear, and every convenience are graciously provided. Breakfasts were individually prepared to order, lunches were ready to go, appetizers and dinners were an absolute gourmet treat. Rooms are spacious, modern, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The buildings, docks and facilities in general are ideal, modern and very well maintained. Newton Cove is a tranquil setting in a beautiful part of the world and located right at one of the best salmon and ling cod fishing areas anywhere. A great experience!

I have stayed and fished at many locations on west side of Vancouver island over the past few years and Newton Cove Resort was by far the best of all of them. Staff, guides and Kimberly, the manager could not have been better. The food was great, the rooms were outstanding and clean and each room had its own bathroom. The downfall of most of these fishing resorts in past have been old worn out and uncomfortable beds. You can be confident in the beds at Newton Cove… they were as comfortable as my bed at home. I highly recommend booking with Kimberly at Newton Cove!!

The Newton Cove resort was beyond our expectations.
Kimberly and her staff were very friendly and professional.
The food was exceptional!!!
We could not have asked for a better place to stay.
I would recommend this resort to anybody that wanted to be pampered after a long day of fishing.
Oh, and the fishing was out of this world!!
Definitely would go back.

Newton Cove Resort is so outstanding that to rate it fairly would require at least another star.

This elegant but simple resort is located on floats in the stunningly beautiful and well sheltered Newton Cove. The location is just 10 minutes from the desirable “outside” fishing grounds off Nootka Island on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It is accessible by boat from Tahsis or its sister Moutcha Bay Resort, or by float plane (service from both various spots in BC, including Vancouver, and Seattle).

The food was so good that it reminded us of the Michelin-starred restaurants we have enjoyed, albeit without all the white gloves and simultaneous service (which I can do without). We had a simply magical dinner, cooked over an open fire, on the beach at nearby Catalla Island.

Fishing is outstanding for chinook up to 30+ lbs, large northern coho, halibut, ling cod and rockfish. You can bring your own boat, use their guides or hire your own guide from nearby Tahsis. The staff will process your catch to your specification, vacuum pack and freeze it then package it all in an airline-friendly insulated box for your trip home. The protected inside waters are ideal for kayaking, and the nearby old-growth forests invite exploration and foraging. Bears on the shore, eagles overhead and marine mammals (whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions) in the sea provide constant entertainment.

As wonderful as all this is, the people and service eclipse everything else. The staff are cheerful, helpful and accommodating. After a day of fishing you are greeted with a warm moist towel dockside—this is the only place THAT has ever happened to me!

Just got back from a 4 night trip to Newton Cove Resort. We took our own boat, launched at Gold River and after a 1hr 40 minute run we found paradise. A beautiful near new floating lodge, very comfortable rooms, awesome sitting areas on the outside deck with fireplaces and view, nice dining room, store, sea ice, bait, kayaks.

But best of all were the friendly and attentive staff who would do anything to make your stay great. And then there was the cuisine, prepared by a very talented chef, an unbelievable gourmet experience. And then there were salmon, lots of them if you could get outside the last rocks. We enjoyed many of the guests as well as there were numbers of successful and happy people with lots of good stories.

Newton Cove Resort provides a 5 star production in all areas of the fishing lodge experience. Kimberly's staff is dedicated, ready and willing to take good care of all your needs. Gourmet dinners served each night. A generous breakfast is provided along with "select your own ingredients" sack lunches each morning. Nice hotel quality rooms provide comfortable beds. Quality fish cleaning and packaging facilities right at the dock. Gas fire pits to talk about the days fishing provide a relaxing environment to wrap up the day. All this floating in a gorgeous bay. The guides all work hard for you. We fished with Mike and Doug and appreciated their knowledge and desire to bring in the fish. I highly recommend this fishing lodge and the company Nootka Marine Adventures.

I stayed here for one night on my way to Kyuquot from Gold River in July, then visited here a couple of other times in August, including for dinner. Everything about it is first class. The staff are wonderful, the food is great, and the accommodation and other amenities are remarkable for being in the middle of nowhere. It is not inexpensive, but if you have your own boat and want a fabulous trip to the West Coast of Vancouver Island this spot is tough to beat.

My husband and I just spent 4 nights, with 3 days of fishing, at Newton Cove Resort (NCR). We go fishing every year for my husband’s birthday and this was our best sport fishing trip ever! The resort is quite lavish for a fishing lodge, which was great, but you go to these places for the fish, and fishing from NCR with our guide Paul K was awesome. We were picked up in Moutcha Bay by Paul K and taken on a one hour boat ride through Moutcha Bay and Esperanza Sound to the beautiful floating Newton Bay Resort. Along the way we stopped to watch a mama and baby whale frolic in the water. Our room was as nice as a small room at a 5 star hotel. A hot cooked to order breakfast was a great way to start each day. For lunch you packed your own boxed lunch (in your keepsake lunch bag) from the vast array of items laid out for lunch. After a day of fishing you were met at the dock with hot towels (yes, what a nice touch!) and while you showered, hung out, told fish stories and had a drink, your fish was weighed and processed on site. You can bring your own alcohol or buy drinks from the bar. Hors d’oeuvres were served everyday at 5:30 followed by a delicious, foodie worthy, four course dinner (with wine) at 6:30. Most important to me, a full day of fishing was just that at Newton Cove Resort. The fishing started when you wanted it too (we started at 6:30 others started as early as 5:30 and a few at 8:00) and went until you either caught your daily quota or until 4:00-4:30. This was impressive to us as we have fished other places where a full day of fishing was much shorter. The boats used at Newton Bay Resort were very well equipped and comfortable and the guides are first rate, which to me is the most important thing since the guide is what turns a FISHING trip into a CATCHING trip!!! Our guide Paul K was exceptional. We caught 148lbs of salmon over 3 days, including a 23lb Chinook and a 13lb Coho.
