The luxurious rooms receive accolades for their beauty and comfort, though the lack of A/C and some bathroom quirks are noted. Immaculate cleanliness is a standout feature, with the pristine gardens often mentioned.

Hotel's Favourite
It just doesn't get any better than this. We have been to Gravetye Manor numerous times to dine - we only live a few miles away so no need to stay. Quite simply, it doesn't really get any better but then, how can perfection be bettered? From arrival to departure and all points in between, the service is outstanding. Then the food arrives - I am no foodie but when you eat at the Gravetye, the flavours just engulf you. Why they have Pepper & Salt on the table, I am unsure because it would be sacrilege to add or change anything. Every member of the team plays a part and not one lets them down. I'm almost tempted to give it a bad review so it is easier to get a dinner booking in future (but I won't). Thank you once again

When we heard the Hotel would be open at the start of July we booked a pricey but good package for two nights. Mobility is not the name of the game at senior age so it was disappointing to be on the second floor; but having said that, the views were good and we were at the level just above the croquet lawn.
The overall virus arrangements were very good starting from arrival when we placed our bags on the front doorstep for them to be taken by a well protected chap and were then directed to a bar where the general manager told us what was what, all in all keeping us and them safe. In our room there were all the expected things but minimualised with no excess paperwok/magazines etc.
Centre stage in the room was a welcome birthday card and small gift together with an A4 sheet printed with a QR code containing the dinner menu and wine list.
The check in time was 11.00am and served at noon was a light lunch in the lovely garden; and later on an afternoon scone and clotted cream tea.
Dinner in their beautiful recently added glass walled retaurant was served with maximum distancing on to an adjacent small table for us to acually delivery the plate on to our table; and the wine the same way without the waiter pouring it .
Strategically placed throughout the building were dispensers of sanitiser so that you could use the stair handrail and then dose you hand.
Your ultimate bill was emailed to you to authorise payment from the same card you had given a deposit by, so again minimum contact with the hotel staff.
The hotel has 17 rooms but I do not know how many were occupied, but as the establishment was only serving residents the restaurant was a bit bare.
Our overall two night experience was very good and most welcome after so long having been restriced in movement. The gardens and general surroundins are alway lovely to experience here, even if only for lunch in normal times.

We are lucky enough to have stayed in a number of hotels in the Relais & Chateaux group in the UK and Europe and Gravetye Manor has to rank as one of the very best in my opinion.
From the warm greeting by the doorman who took our luggage from car to room, to our reluctant goodbyes, this hotel hit every mark.
After a short, informative & interesting tour of the lovely public rooms complete with log fires, fresh flowers and even an original painting by Sir Winston Churchill, we were shown to our room “Ash”.
Usually, at the mention of four poster beds & wood panelled walls, I am fearful of musty smells, dark rooms & dust collecting drapes. Not so at Gravetye Manor! The room overlooks the stunning gardens and is bright, airy and filled with sumptuous furnishings and a big comfortable four poster bed. This beautiful Elizabethan Manor House is fragrant and spotless and, when I asked the chambermaid how they managed to keep it so, she replied “because it is so well loved”. This is apparent in everything here. The thoughtful touches are almost too numerous to mention. The bathroom was spotless, huge, modern and bright with oversize, fluffy towels and bathmat and everything you could possibly want in a bathroom.
We enjoyed great pre dinner cocktails in the bar, once again there was a roaring log fire, comfortable seating, lush furnishings and lovely flowers. We were shown to the contemporary and stunning restaurant and opted for the tasting menu. Everything was delicious. I will not go into great detail, you can see the menu online, but suffice to say that this chef is obviously passionate about what he does. The service throughout (food & wine) was faultless and charming.
We slept like logs.
Breakfast was again taken in the main restaurant which is even more lovely in daylight. My full English was a treat as was my husband’s poached egg with haddock and hollandaise.
If I sound gushing it’s because I came away feeling very spoilt and pampered. My expectations were definitely exceeded. Every member of staff made me feel a very welcome guest indeed.
Thank you Gravetye Manor, we will most definitely return.

+1
My wife and I stayed and dined here at the weekend and was blown away by the entire experience. Upon arrival we were treated by Brian who made us feel instantly at ease. Another colleague gave us a tour of the hotel and grounds (including the two original Churchill paintings) and we were then shown to the room. We stayed in ‘Oak’ which was lovely and comfortable. Our only complaint on the whole stay was the rooms were a little bit too warm but it didn’t have any impact on our stay. Everything in the room is set up to perfection, the complimentary minibar, tea and coffee facilities, toiletries... the list or facilities is almost endless. Not content with providing a fabulous in room experience, they also provide Hunter wellies, brollies and shoe cleaning facilities for you to make the most of the gardens, which we did. The gardens, even in the winter, are stunning and the views are incredible. The kitchen garden is also worth checking out so you can appreciate the scale of it.
Now to the food... wow, just as expected the food was incredible. We had the tasting menu with the matching wine flight and every course and every wine was perfect from first to last. The highlight of the dinner was the soufflé which is something to behold.
Breakfast the next morning was fantastic. The continental selection of yoghurts, fruits and honey were just sensational and the full breakfast, complete with perfectly cooked kidneys, was stunning. Brian, the house porter was great and organised for use to have a tour of the kitchen before we departed and we got to meet with George the Executive Head Chef. I was in particular, incredibly grateful for both the time and effort that went into this to get to see behind the scenes of where such culinary brilliance is made.
Overall, this was a magical 24 hours from arriving to leaving, nothing is less than perfect or too much trouble for the incredible staff. We would go back in a heartbeat!

An outstanding meal in lovely surroundings with enthusiastic and friendly staff. All courses we chose for lunch were faultless and served in an unhurried manner. The new dining room was comfortable and elegant and offered a pleasant view.

We have been many times over the years, not just to stay but for lunch or dinner when we lived not so far away and it has always been lovely but it has moved up several notches since our last visit, which was a few years ago. The hotel is beautifully and elegantly furnished and decorated, we stayed in two different rooms and both were gorgeous with everything we needed including a nespresso machine, fresh milk and complimentary soft drinks in the fridge. The food at dinner and breakfast each day was superb, very accomplished cooking. The garden was a joy to stroll round, so full of colour as if it were mid summer rather than mid September.

A truly memorable stay on a special occasion for us. The best nights sleep ever in sumptuous bed linen in an amazing room. All food was exceptional as you would expect with 1st class service. Fantastic old building and gardens with great walks that all start from the house. Veggie garden worth a stroll – you will eat of some it on your stay! Movement around the hotel is all in face masks, every time you get up. Considering you can easily social distance (3 reception rooms), and this is a very small hotel (17 rooms) with mealtimes spread etc, it does distract a bit, but I understand all hotels seem to be doing their own thing.

Absolutely beautiful, the Manor House and gardens are spectacular. The staff are all very friendly, polite and efficient. We had a drink in the beautiful garden first before being shown to our table. The setting for dinner is in a conservatory with full glass windows looking out to the immaculate gardens. The food is simply stunning. Beautifully presented, the waitress explained everything from the 6 or so different butters for the bread down to every detail of the dish served. Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion. Thank you

Gravetye Manor is one of our favourite hotels and it was lovely to return there in March to coincide with the spectacular daffodils, which have been planted in wonderful swathes all over the estate.
Small details matter and from the moment you arrive the personable concierge hits the right note - warm, attentive and natural - not over the top!
The staff all seem to manage to tread this tightrope very successfully. It must come from the confidence that if they are all doing their bit, calmly and professionally, no-one is going to have any issues...
The food was again of a very good standard, real flavours, not too complex and delivering many memorable dishes, venison and duck were stand out.
A small point, however one worth noting. The sommelier was charming, knowledgeable and attentive.
He made some good recommendations. One suggestion was then not available, and he made a further suggestion which we went for.
At no time was a price mentioned, and although the wine was indeed delicious, I do think that on these occasions, a discreet point to the specific wine on the list, would allow the guest to at least know what the damage was going to be! Having to ask the price is not easy when you have company....
We really enjoyed having our breakfast served in our room. We had a lovely large bedroom and beautiful views, it seemed a shame to leave it.
The atmosphere that is created at GTM is wonderful, a genuine hospitality experience that is hard to beat.

Gravetye Manor had been on our list of dining venues for some time. We booked in for Sunday lunch. The entrance hall and sitting area, where we waited to be called for our table and where we subsequently had coffee afterwards, was uninviting and tired. The dining room by contrast was bright and modern and very impressive even if the tables were in our opinion not spaced far enough apart. The staff were attentive, pleasant and smartly attired. The lunch was a fixed price menu at £60 per head with several choices for each course. However when the food arrived for each of the courses the size of the portions were ridiculously small. Having lunched on the previous 2 Sundays at Chewton Glen in the New Forest and L'Ortolan in Reading we were able to make a direct and fair comparison and Gravetye was a poor third place. For this reason the meal was very disappointing. We had thought we would early in the new year stay overnight for a couple of nights but we will certainly not be returning.

There are choices within the preset menus, and any special requests are agreeably handled
Unfortunately No, but having said that I managed and I am an old man and we were on the second floor which actually was not too bad. That is the top floor too, so not a tall building.
May I believe
Check in is from 2.00pm and check out is 11am
However please feel free to arrive before this time.
