Thoroughly enjoyable two days in the "wilderness" surrounded by nature. The amenities were perfect for us; loved the two burner cook stove, cast iron pan and coffee perculator. Bathroom facilities and shower worked well; the king bed had the most comfortable mattress and linens. Spent the day visiting the local villages, wine tasting and enjoying PEC. All you need to bring is your food and clothing. We enjoyed the beautiful sunset overlooking North Beach. Overall a great getaway and we look forward to returning again.

My partner and I went and experienced our first rustic "Glamping" and I am in awe! This place has everything! So close to vineyards you can ride a bike to them. There are flower gardens here if you get the chance to see them as they are so beautiful. We were greeted so warmly by 'Jens' who took our bags and luggage to our site on their golf cart (the camp keeps the tent areas free of noise from motors so you park in the lot and they cart your belongings to your site!) After asking what sort of things we liked and wanted to do, he showed us on a map where we were, the area and all sorts of attractions we can go to and do just by the us answering a few of his questions. We were oriented to to our site and shown how the awesome outdoor shower worked and then our facilities as well. Showed us the kitchen amenities and as he was leaving us there he wished us a great stay and offered us to contact him directly if we needed anything! So kind!

Our first morning there, we messaged about eggs, and they sent us 4 wonderful eggs from their own farm fresh chicken coop! We had them delivered withing 5 minutes!! OUTSTANDING!!!

We met his wife Inge as well and she showed us the flower gardens and told us about the environmental initiatives they have in place and how they try to leave as little a footprint on the environment as possible! I call it camping with a conscience!

Their knowledge about the region and the lands and about their own wish for the environment is truly amazing and this alone will bring me back.

If you are serious about camping, this is a must do! Even if it is just once, do not pass this place by! I know I am going back with a smile!

For a completely different getaway, this is a unique and little-known gem. Campers will find it an upscale experience. Hotel and B&B people will find it rustic and outdoorsy. But truly it is luxury in the backwoods. Helpful hosts who cheerfully bring you and your luggage from the parking lot to your tent (although it is not far to walk). Beautiful forest setting tucked away from other campers as well as PEC tourist haunts. Within walking distance to the less crowded North Beach. Huge tents with wood floors, that are well protected from bugs and rain. Big enough to include king bed, couch, side tables and dresser - even windows for air flow. Your kitchen is outdoors (bring your own food) outfitted with table, chairs, sink (cold running water and propane campstove). You have your own outhouse, fire pit and open-air shower. Immaculate, comfortable and SO worth it. Highly recommended. We'll certainly go back!

We were about to book our anniversay stay with this place however, when we spoke to the person about our service dog, we were deterred from booking based on a number of fables by the owner. It is a Canadian Legal requirement to accept service dogs, especially for the blind, and the owner despite their website indicating they accept guide dogs, refused our stay. This is an infrigement of rights and does not follow accessibiltiy standards with the disabiltiy act.

Please support another accommodation. There is obviously a reason whey this place is never booked.

"Although we realize the importance of guide dogs and the vital role they play in our society, I have to ask whether you have ever gone camping with your dog before.

Our no pet policy is based partially on the potential for pets disturbing other guests as most dogs I doubt could resist the plethora of chipmunks and squirrels that are in the camp.

The more important reason is safety for your dog as we have heard of several instances of small pet being taken by the vast coy-wolf population around here.
This has never happened at our camp but has happened on our adjacent properties."

Response from Fronterra Farm, Owner at Fronterra Farm
Responded Feb 22, 2022
Hi Lisa, We are so sorry that our conversation regarding service animals was misunderstood but glad you shared our email where we underline our policy of respect for our guest who have service animals. For us, promoting accessibility to this wonderful camping experience is of utmost importance. We are not sure why the last sentence of this email was cut where we stated that you are fully welcome to come so long as the animal is protected. If you lived around here or met either of our neighbours who have lost their beloved furry friends to the coyotes, you will quickly realize this is no ‘fable’ but a serious issue that we would feel terrible about if something should happen. Our words were to make you aware of the situation to avoid disaster as we have noticed that during the pandemic Fronterra has attracted many families uninitiated to camping who are looking for something enchanting and authentic with added conveniences (and yes, a little luxury with king beds, private spaces and hot showers!). If you would like to come, please just give us a call and we will be happy to welcome you and your service animal. Best regards, Team Fronterra.

We had a wonderful two night stay. Jens and staff were gracious and kind hosts. We had one of the tents facing the marsh. The sound of birds and wildlife and wind in the marsh grasses was intoxicating. The bed was super comfortable and the on-site shower and composting toilet worked well. We ordered some farm fresh eggs and they were delivered in small pail with beautiful little touches like fresh herbs and wildflowers from the garden. We used the farm as a base for gorgeous cycling outings to local vineyards.

My significant other and I visited Fronterra Farm to celebrate her birthday and we both had an relaxing & amazing time. Prior to arriving to the farm, Jens was very friendly, responsive to any inquiries/additional requests, he was even friendlier and enthusiastic in person! So were the staffs; we were treated with a warmth, friendly, relaxing, privacy respected attitude during our entire stay. The tent suites each have their own personality, and everything was very cleaned. The highlight of the trip were the outdoor showers, the kitchen area setup, the view of the fire pit from bed, canoeing over to North Beach Provincial Park for sunset/sunrise, catching the shooting stars at night out at the private dock and biking around the wineries.

I will recommend to a friend and come back again!

I had not been camping in nearly 30yrs, but my husband loves it. We compromised by going “glamping” instead at Fronterra Farm. The experience did not disappoint! Jens and Inga, the owners, were wonderful hosts and made our stay comfortable and relaxing. We were given a tent right on the shoreline of the Bay. The interior was nicely appointed with some furniture, including a sofa and a very comfortable king sized bed. The outdoor shower and toilet were convenient and the kitchen area cosy and functional. The highlight was the private fire pit that we enjoyed every night. We were able to recharge, enjoy the natural scenery, a stunning sunset, and still stay comfortable. The farm is located near many wineries for some great days out. Jens and Inga took the time to recommend some great places to go for meals and things to do. I would highly recommend a visit!

We stayed in a beautiful tent on a raised wood platform with a comfortable bed, an outdoor shower and cooking facilities. We had a fire each night (wood was provided) and sat on the dock to see the stars. Fresh veggies and eggs from the farm were available for breakfast. The service was fantastic and all our needs were quickly provided for. Excellent water access from the dock for canoeing (canoe provided) and paddleboarding (we brought our own). Short trip to a fantastic beach (by water, car, or bike). Loved the experience and will definitely be back!

We just returned from our second visit to Fronterra Farms - and had as much fun as did our first time around. The camp is thoughtfully created, providing guests with a perfect mix of camping and comforts of home. We love the big king bed and beautiful linens provided in the large, permanent tent...and the fun of the outdoor stove and outdoor shower! Be sure to watch the beautiful sunsets from the communal dock and to try the fresh eggs delivered to your tent! The location of Fronterra Farms is perfect...you're right in the heart of wine country, with Wellington close by.

We had the opportunity to join friends for an end of summer glamping trip to Fronterra Farm. It did not disappoint!
The tents were stylishly decked out with funky antique furniture making them feel cozy and comfortable. Our “kitchen” was simple but imaginatively designed with elements of nature incorporated. The overall feel was completely charming.
Our hosts were incredibly accommodating. We were able to dine at sunset at the most beautifully decked out table with gorgeous flower arrangements.
We were still out in nature, so there were some critters outside our tent trying to get into our cooler. That was expected, so it wasn’t terribly vexatious. It made for some great conversations in the morning.
I would like to thank Jens and Inge for their hospitality and Alicia &Aiden (or rangers) for helping with the dinner set up.

I think there is a part in their terms and conditions that state that pets are not allowed. Unless a guide dog for those who can not see.

Thanks for reaching out! When we design out experiences at Fronterra, we seek to strike a balance between people letting go in the arms of nature while still keeping practical in the face of modernity. As such, the camp is off grid but we do have little power packs to keep your phone, which is the de facto camera, charged. You can request this anytime during your stay.

Hi Shandi, Thanks for reaching out! We do offer a service for a private chef but we generally only for groups of 10 or more.

Mosquitos in the bedroom ... is that a problem during the summer months?
Answer from J. B
“If you ever thought you we too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito” Although we are full advocates of trying to make a difference, all our tents are fully screened. We also work very hard designing the camp to be pest free by filling low-lying ares, promoting mosquitoes preditors, creating wind channels in from the lake to sweep the camp. All in all, being the first land-fall from the prevailing westerlies on Lake Ontario keeps our farm and camp relatively bug-free
