Detailed Reviews
Our adventure to the Seraya started with being met at the Airport at Labuan Bajo by the car & taken to their Cafe we called the ‘ holding lounge’ above the Port where did did our final emails & text messages for a week before being escorted to the local timber launch for our 1 hour trip to the Island. A greeting party awaited us at the end of their jetty and all the beautiful coral inviting us in as we walked along the jetty to the main focal point of the resort being the restaurant/ bar underneath the very cleverly designed Manta Ray thatched roof on an enormous bamboo structure.
We chose to be beachfront in one of the A frame bamboo bungalows which was 30 metres to the high tide mark & a short stroll from the pool which is the ‘roundabout’ from the jetty & Restaurant.
Our air conditioned bungalow had a couple of steps to the deck out the front with 2 sun loungers and then sliding doors into our bedroom which was all bambooo including the floor. A large bed with mosquito netting in front then access either side behind to our clothes shelves and door into the outside bathroom which was large and private with sails mesh netting and well equipped with a toilet to the left, large shower in the middle and basin to the right with a drying ladder (a few more drying hooks would have been handy, as would have been a chair in our room).
Full board meals worked well with a choice of eggs and extras or banana pancakes after a lovely fruit platter, then a main course lunch and 3 course set dinner- a mixture of local and western food on different days. We eat and enjoyed every meal and left nothing on our plates.
Our daily routine was swim at 6 then breakfast at 7 read, sunbathe, snorkeling, snoozing , swimming relaxing and eating and were tucked up in bed by 9 every evening( apart from New Years Eve where we needed to digest a traditional seafood banquet which was delicious and sat around a fire under the stars until late.
The snorkeling off the jetty was awesome and best on high tide as the coral was too shallow close in on low tide. We saw an incredible amount of sea life there each day & on our final day we went out on their own timber junk Dalliance as a mixed group of divers & snorkelers for a big day out in Komodo National Park with their own Divers School to 3 dive spots and witnessed Manta Rays, reef sharks, turtles, cuttlefish & so much more.
An unforgettable holiday- thank you.

Our family have enjoyed a sensational 5 day stay at The Seraya. The island holiday was made easy from the moment we were greeted by Seraya staff at Labuan Bajo airport and transferred to the island by boat. The accommodation is very comfortable and wonderfully located on a beach which is heaven for swimming and snorkelling. The service, food and hospitality provided was excellent, a highlight being the Nasi Tamping Seafood Banquet that was provided on New Year's Eve followed by a beach bonfire. The activities on offer for our stay were well organised and very professionally run by trained staff. The Seraya provided a brilliant island holiday for our family.

This was an incredible trip! Got picked up from the airport and driven to the port. Because we made it through the airport really quickly (no checked luggage), we were too early and the boat wasn’t there yet. So the driver dropped us off at the Starbucks to enjoy the air conditioning while we waited. The boat was quick and easy, and the crew was great - they are all part of the resort as well.
Once we arrived, a welcome crew was all waiting at the end of the dock waving with huge smiles on their faces. We only had two small backpacks with us, but they have a wheelbarrow to deliver all your luggage to the rooms for you. We were whisked up to the restaurant by Oktavia for check-in, passing the baby reef sharks swimming in the tide looks also giving us a warm welcome.
This resort is small, and like other reviews say, only two on this island. The staff is like a family, so warm and friendly, and it runs like a well-oiled machine. The restaurant is up on a hill with incredible views, the house reef is right off the beach, there are plenty of places to relax. There are kayaks and SUPs. One day we took a kayak to the small island across the way (great for snorkeling), and the next we circled the island the resort is on (got to see the colorful fishing village). Each time the staff packed a cooler with water and cups for us. They brought us afternoon tea on the dock, making it so easy to just relax all day long. They also offer candlelit dinners on the pier or a bbq beach dinner, but we didn’t take advantage of those. The water is so clear and perfect for snorkeling.
We decided beforehand to do a tour of Komodo National Park from a different tour group out of Labuan Bajo a day after we left the resort. It’s cheaper to do a group tour elsewhere. But I would recommend considering the private tour from the resort directly. It costs the same as a private tour out of Labuan Bajo, and you have all the comfort of setting your own pace and doing it with the wonderful crew from the resort. They have just as much experience at all the usual sites as the other tours.
We were there end of April 2022, and there were only between one and three other groups each day with us. The beach front room was an incredible location. The air conditioning is at the back so not the most efficient, but it works. And there’s a fan above the bed. There are a ton of mosquitos! The staff did so much to help out, like setting mosquito coils in the bathroom and below our table at dinner, and even having bug spray in the room and restaurant. I only noticed them at night, but they were sometimes around in the bathroom during the day. The room is well sealed, though, and the mosquito net over the bed is effective.
No cell service of WiFi (except if you walk to the top of the hill) which was perfectly fine with me! Enjoy the peace!

I had the pleasure of spending my Christmas break on The Seraya, and it was one I will not soon forget. Hailing from London, the innate need to escape the hustle and bustle steered me towards an Island getaway this year, and upon a recommendation by a dear friend I set my sights on The Seraya.
The whole process from start to finish was seamless. We were met at the airport and taken straight to the Island (via the quant Bamboo Cafe in town), and met with smiles and welcomes that reflected the cornerstone that is Indonesian hospitality. Our picturesque villa looked out onto the beach, nestled on top of the crystal clear ocean, hiding a reef that has to be seen to be believed. The food was served promptly every day, and was delicious, catering to all dietary requirements - the communal based eating was welcomed as we quickly became friends with all that we ate with. Particularly the charming staff and management! As well as an island Labrador named Inca that, was honestly, one of the cutest pups I have ever come across.
Christmas eve was spent watching the sunset on a small remote island, a Bintang or two washing down the orange and yellow hues in the sky. Christmas was relaxed, as the staff put on a banquet that rivalled even my grandmothers. Bintang, Glazed Ham, Bintang, Roast Chicken, Veggies, Gravy, Bintang, Pavlova. Perfect. All set on a long table where we celebrated well into the night.
The next few days were spent completely relaxed with sand under my feet, saltwater on my skin, and a tan that rivalled the locals. Going back and forth between the easily accessible water activities (kayak, Stand Up Paddle board, Snorkels etc..) and the comfortable ocean hammock. Finally I was sent off with the unwavering hospitality that I received from start to finish, my passenger boat chugging off into the deep blue ocean, the waves of staff and new friends fading behind me.
Sitting back in London a smile lights up my face every time I think of my Christmas break, friends are beside themselves with jealousy as I excitingly recount my days in paradise. If you are visiting this part of the world, I hope you get to enjoy The Seraya as much as I did, it is truly a magical place.

An absolute insider tip, on one of the most beautiful reefs I have ever seen. You can snorkel there and see everything that only divers can see.
The rest of the time you chill in one of the jetty hammocks and have cocktails or fresh fruit juices served to you there.
One day we chartered a great old sailing boat and were able to swim with manta rays and visit the Komodo dragons. The crew is at your side all day and it was an absolute dream.
The island is in the middle of a nature reserve and to get there you have to drive about 45 minutes from the island of Flores in the old fishing boat.
The rooms are "pieds dans l'eau" directly on the beach or second row with sea view or hill side. We stayed two nights in the beachside rooms and two nights in the middle rooms with sea view. We can highly recommend both and thought the mix was great.
Everything is designed with great attention to detail.
The restaurant is great, the roof is made entirely of bamboo and is shaped like a manta ray. Since there aren't many guests, you can sit comfortably together and have a nice chat if you want. The food was excellent throughout! We met a group of people our own age there and had a really fun evening.
The island has its own water treatment plant and the grey water is used for watering and flushing the toilets. This might bother a few people with very sensitive noses. But it wasn't bad and it didn't bother us.
Conclusion: In terms of price, it's absolute luxury for the area, but the price/performance ratio is 100% right and we have fond memories of our vacation there. We will definitely go there again and have recommended it to many of our friends.

The Seraya Resort was recommended to us by our Australian friends as one of their favourite places they had been. We took their advice and were not disappointed. We had a truly memorable holiday. We were welcomed on the pier by all the friendly staff on arrival and waved goodbye when we left one week later. We stayed in a beach bungalow that was built in a traditional bamboo design with an outdoor bathroom. It was clean, comfy, air conditioned and directly overlooked the beach. We loved the direct access to the shady lounges both on our balcony and on the beach. One of the many highlights was being able to swim out from the beach and go snorkelling amongst the hundreds of tropical fish and coal. The pier was a hub of activity with boats coming and going but also provided shady areas to sit and relax above the water. There were two little islands about a 10 minute boat ride away. Both great for snorkelling. One of the islands was home to regenerating colourful coral, the other, once again, was home to an array of tropical fish and coral. We were the only ones on the island and enjoyed the clear blue water and white sand to ourselves. One of the highlights was swimming with close to 20 Manta Rays, snorkelling at Pink Beach and searching out sea turtles at Turtle Point on our day trip to Komodo Island to see the dragons, for which we saw two.
Just around the corner from the resort was a little fishing village where we met the locals and spent some time visiting the school children.
Did I mention the food? The food was amazing. Always fresh and served with a smile. The menu was extensive enough to have variety over the week and the view from the restaurant was spectacular.
Did I mention my birthday? We came back to our room on my birthday to find the chef, Augus, had baked a cake and the staff sang happy birthday. Our room was decorated with balloons - they made the day very special. Add to that a romantic sunset dinner on the pier and a moonlight dinner on the beach, it just doesn’t get any better.
Our thanks to Eddy, Joy and their dedicated team who cared for us like royalty during our stay. Terima kasih

There are probably not many hotels line this. It is not a very cheap place but a magic one.
Everybody there was friendly and patient and tries to make the guests as happy as possible. The real asset is the nature (and the long jetty with its hammocks and stairs into the water.)
What can be still be improved
The selection of dishes for dinner is limited and only twice an excellent ‘catch of the day’ was offered (Food is good and very reasonably priced the restaurant area is awesome).
But Indonesia and all the hotels have reopened very recently and also because of this some things are not very organized. Only a few staff members speak good English. So do not expect Maldivian high-end perfection. But who comes here for that ?
If you need to be online sometimes, get an indonesian SIM card (or flexiroam, etc.) before arriving. If your phone switches from 4G to EDGE due to the weak signal, turn flight mode on for a few seconds and the off. Then 4G should be active at least for a few minutes again.

Where to start!?!?
What a fabulous experience here.
A family run resort & you feel it!
You just feel at home. The whole team cannot be happier to assist you in every aspect of your day.
Whether it be relaxing in front of your bungalow with impeccable room service or having drinks at the bar overlooking the bay to dining in the restaurant. They organise trips anywhere you like & know the surroundings perfectly so offer lots of recommendations.
We did Komodo Park, pink beaches, Manta point & turtle point all in one day. A dream!
The team lead by Kadek a real pro & natural host & to name a few, Rafi our guide for all sea activities, Fidi, Swipe our pilot, Octaviana, Attic, Wili, Riki, Eric, Adrian and many more all contributed to offering a relaxed yet very professional service & they all went well beyond their duties in making sure we had everything we need.
The rooms are impeccable, clean, comfortable beds, we tried beachfront & just behind the beachfront bungalows & both are maintained with a lot of TLC!
The beach is cleaned daily. The kayaks are available at no charge. It’s easy to paddle to Hitamin island & Anita Island where you can take a picnic & snorkel (best in mornings) with such a variety of coral & fish to see. Paddle boards very enjoyable all day.
So yeah, the food is great too!!
They are flexible, we love tweeking our dishes with more or less or certain foods & they happily accommodate.
Such a happy bunch of people working there makes it a precious find. Well done & from the bottom of our hearts thank you Kadek & The Seraya team for looking after us so well.
Oh, I forgot, we spent 5 nights there, went on tour for a few days & came back for another 3 nights we couldn’t stay away!!!! 😀
See you in April/May team!!!
Big Smiles & love to you all.

We love the island because there were no cars or motorcycles, and it was very quiet. They had a very nice fresh breakfast in the restaurant for lunch and dinner had many choices.
We had a beachfront villa with beautiful views to the sea.
They have a very long Pier so you can snorkel off the pier even when the tide is very low and they have some very nice corals and a lot of fish.

I loved everything. The place is a paradise. The bedrooms are beautiful. The restaurant is great. The staff is amazing, all of them, top. They borrow you water activities material like snorkel, paddle surf, kayak and the hotel is sorrounded by beautiful coral so you can spend your day doing cool activities. You can cross with kayak to another Island full of baby sharks. They pick you up by car and boat. They also offer paid activities like visiting other islands, caves etc. Last day we saw a whale while having breakfast!

Hi, Thanks for the Question.
We have decent coverage at all times in certain parts of the resort, especially up the hill. Emails and other messaging services are not an issue. Streaming etc can be trickier.
Hi James,
We do not offer diving at this time. We plan to have a dive shop in the future.
In the meantime, we can make bookings for guests with trusted dive shops based in Labuan Bajo.
