Ok, really “de boat, de boat.” Each day a boat arrives from the mainland with a fresh cast of characters for for the continuing, and never ending, drama of a real life Fantasy Island. Huberth (aka Ricardo Montalbán) playing the role as the boss and host greets each boat as it arrives. Guests and host walk down a long pier to the resort while porters transport luggage to guest cottages. Just feet from the front door of each cottage is a white Sandy beach and a calm, crystal clear ocean with coral and fish rivaling the Great Barrier Reef (according to two different groups of Australians). Guests dine and mingle in the open-air dining room. It is an eclectic group of international travelers talking travel and adventure. Huberth is making the rounds to ensure all is well and to recommend local excursions (snorkeling, diving, Komodo dragon viewing trips - all of which can be taken with the resort’s boats). Of course it’s also recommended to spend time relaxing on the beach or by the resort’s pool. This was our favorite hotel during our monthlong trip through Indonesia (we stayed 4 nights, then extended our stay). It was not the fanciest hotel we stayed in, just the one we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

I only stayed one night (rather than stay in Labuan Bajo town) as they have a free ferry transfer twice a day so could work with my flights. Arriving at the resort is amazing you can see the coral and fish from the jetty. Its a small resort with main thing to do being snorkeling. I had already done day trips to see sights, but they offer diving and day trips. Lovely bungalows all on the beach. I had their standard bungalow, which was well appointed and comfortable. The standard rooms are one big bungalow split in two rooms with seperate balcony. They have single bungalows also, which cost more but seemed same size. I prefer the standard rooms at they were at end of beach, set higher off ground away from the restaurant. Food was of good quality, not foodie level, but good. All menus are a la carte and reasonably prices for an island resort, with breakfast 50k - 100k idr, lunch 150k-200k idr and dinner 200k-400k idr Cocktails were similar 120k

We found this place upon recommendation of a friend and it was an amazing experience. The resort is only a year old, and the designer paid attention to the smallest detail. It consists of 24 bungalows that are directly on a private beach, a restaurant, gym and a dive shop. Since you get sunrises on the beach directly, they also have a sunset bar to enjoy a drink at sunset. The bungalows are done with a lot of class, even though you can tell they are very eco friendly. The bathroom and shower are open (outdoors), and follow the resort theme. Each bungalow has a porch with a beach view and its own set of lounge chair directly in the front. The beach has a powdery white sands, super clean water and a very nice coral to snorkel in for hours. The hotel has a dive shop, Aqura diving, that will take care of your diving needs and excursions. We did dives, as well as the trip to the Padar island, pink sand beach and Komodo island (saw 3 Komodo dragons), which was very well organised and executed. The staff is super friendly and always helpful. The food at the restaurant is diverse and very good, even though I found the portions on some of them too big for me 😁 If you want a relaxed, quiet time to reset and unwind, without crowds, hustle and bustle, THIS IS THE PLACE! And I forgot, it's about 40 minutes boat ride from Labuan Bajo port (included in the price, as well as a car pickup from the airport to the port).

We had a wonderful holiday at Sudamala resort. It’s just beautiful there. The staff are super friendly and the service is excellent. They have a wonderful house reef which is wonderful for snorkelling. The dive Center linked to the resort organises excellent boat tours to the sights and for snorkelling and diving. I can’t recommend Sudamala resort highly enough. A truly relaxing holiday!!

It was a lovely stay for the family, although we found that the most of residences are couples. The staffs are welcoming, helpful and informative especially Sonny who’s accompanied us from the day we arrived at Jetty. The rooms we stayed also lovely and cozy. The bath room is semi outdoor which brings the tropical forest feeling when using it. The best will be their coral reef around jetty that we can do snorkelling at. They are beautiful than the one we went on Kanawa island.

If you want to spend your holiday just laying down in the beach while enjoying the beautiful view of the blue sea or reading books then this the right place for you. The place is not too far away from Labuan Bajo. It is within 45 minutes by boat or 15 minutes by speed boat from Labuan Bajo harbour. Upon arrival to the resort we were welcomed in jetty by the Resort Manager Pak Hubert. He briefed us about the resort and all the activities that we can do while staying there. The beach is just at the door step of the villa and the beautiful corals are within 5 meters from the beach. My son spend his morning and afternoon for three days snorkling. While my other son spend his days laying in hammoc under the tree reading books. Amazingly, you can see both sunrise and sunset from the resort area. The resort has swimming pool and small fitness centre. It also has dive centre for diving enthusiast. The staffs are friendly and attentive. The Villa and the resort area are clean. The foods are delicious but a bit expensive and you have no other option. Overall, this resort is highly recommended for people who want to spend their holiday in the secluded resort and enjoying beautiful scenery of the sea.

We had such a lovely stay at the Sudamala - A perfect beach / snorkelling / diving resort. Huberth and his team were fantastic and really looked after us. After our first night we already wanted to extend our stay to four nights! We made lots of new friends on this holiday. The food was excellent too. No complaints at all. Can’t wait to come back!

Sudamala Resort Seraya is a wonderfull place to be away from the hustle bustle routines. The room is clean with half open air bathroom the bed and pillow is so comfy. The snorkeling spot inside the housereefs is beautiful. Umberto, the manager on site is always exciting to make sure everyting is good with our stay. Muchas gracias!! We spent a week in this magnificent place in August. Being barefoot for the whole holiday gives you a feeling of extreme relaxation. The island is beautiful with the possibility of snorkelling every day as the reef surrounds the island. The guys at the resort were super nice and welcoming throughout the whole holiday! The food was very good and the rooms spacious, clean and with a magnificent view directly over the sea. Special thanks to Sonny who organised a wonderful boat trip where we saw komodo dragons and swam with manta rays.

We stayed here during our trip to Komodo island. The place is great, well kept and beautiful. The staff is very kind and helpful, also breakfast is very good. The room we had was nice but didn’t have a very nice view. We felt like the place is quite expensive for Indonesian standards, although it’s a place where we would come back!
