Detailed Reviews
Do yourself a favour and stay at this resort - you will be glad that you did! Excellent house coral reef with abundant soft and hard corals. I'm an experienced diver with about 300 dives and live at the Great Barrier Reef. This reef exceeded my expectations because it was extremely accessible...you can snorkel right off the white sand beach and it's just 100m shallow swim to the drop off. The setup is great as there is a pier with steps for easy entry and exit if you don't want to swim out. The diveshop offers tours as well as diving. We snorkelled Manta Point and swam not dived with about 8 giant Manta as diving permits not available during our stay but it was magnificent. Included in the tour was Padar island and the Komodo dragon national Park. The shop organises tours so the cost of boat is shared amongst a group of guests. All the rooms have beachfront view and are very comfortable with AC, fridge and great bed. A special mention for the staff who were fantastic. Friendly but unobtrusive and got everything just right. Nothing was too much trouble to assist guests.
Our deal included breakfast which was cooked freshly to order. We ate all meals at the resort restaurant and the food was good with daily "amuse bouches" and crackers spied free of charge. Great sunset bar at top of hill. Finally, a shout of congratulations on the eco friendliness of this resort. Clean beach as swept every morning and all plastic removed. Water and electricity produced on site.
I found my happy place and will definitely return!

Just spent 6 days at Sudamala Resort, Seraya. Beautiful resort. Peaceful and idyllic setting. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are well trained, highly engaged in what they are doing and clearly very motivated to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I appreciated the personalized approach of all the staff and management. The food was good, decent portion sizes and reasonably priced. Not a buffet table in sight... excellent!! Alcohol was quite pricey though. Breakfast was good and the freshly squeezed juices were always tasty. Just remember to specifically ask for no sugar to be added to the juice (If you are trying to quit sugar like I am).
The dive centre (Aquradive) is well equipped with good quality dive equipment and trained staff. We did two dives off the house reef and snorkelled the rest of the time. Most enjoyable.
Day trips to Rinca Island and Padar (part of the Komodo National Park), saw a few Komodo Dragons which was a treat, marvelled at the specks of pink coral in the beach sand at Pink Beach and snorkelled with the ever graceful Manta Rays at Manta Point, all were particular highlights for us.
Take in a sunset at the sunset viewpoint overlooking the ocean while watching the small fishing boats return to Labuan Bajo.
Do yourself a favour and visit for a few more days than just a weekend... you won't regret it.

Fantastic resort that felt exclusive but still very friendly and not pretentious. Idyllic, peaceful and thoughtfully designed.
The staff were full of smiles. The food was great and they adapted menu items to create delicious vegetarian options.
We stayed in late January which, despite perfect weather, is apparently low season and there were no more than seven other guests there during our stay.
We booked a 3-night package through Australian website Cudo which was a fantastic deal that included meals, daily cocktail, watersports equipment and airport transfers for the equivalent of the daily room only rate. Would thoroughly recommend as a more zen alternative to Bali!

Beautiful and super great value for money.
Excellent bungalows with super outdoor bathroom.
Great to take a cocktail at the sunsetbar on top of the hill.
Thanks to all the staff (and the Belgian manager) for the good food and great service.
Tips:
* snorkling in front if the hotel is the best, better than in the other Komodo islands
* this resort is rather far away from Rinca & Komodo, so tours are expensive. We stayed first 2 night in the much cheaper and clean Sylvia resort and took 2 great daytours (with RedWhale) from the port there. Much cheaper and better. So you have more time to relax at Seraya

Stayed here in Nov 2019 for 6 nights when the hotel was very quiet but it didn't take away from anything, we had such a fantastic time. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Its about an hour away from the mainland by boat, there is a free shuttle twice a day back and forth to the mainland too which we used to explore Labuan Bajo. We were picked up by the hotel from the airport and then taken to the boat, felt so looked after.
The food at the resort was amazing thankfully, there were specials on everyday and the fish dishes were all really nice. Drinks are quite reasonable seeing as everything has to be imported from the mainland although there is a supermarket at the harbor if you want to bring your own snacks etc
We went on the day trip to see the Komodo dragons via the hotel, a hike up what seemed like a mountain, and snorkeling with turtles, it was quite expensive but it was a really great day out which we would really recommend. The snorkeling by the resort was fab also, with baby sharks, starfish and lots to see. The dive center at the hotel was great and really looked after you.
Hubert and team were amazing and made us feel very welcome, at the time we visited the owners of the resort were there and we had a few chats with all of them and they were very nice people indeed!
There was a sunset point a few minutes walk away which they server drinks at daily and the views of the sunset were magical!
The Wi-Fi wasn't great, it worked in reception mostly but very slow (not the wifi the internet connection itself), although the hotel is aware but getting connection to somewhere this remote could prove difficult. I did joke i would come install WiFi in all the rooms for a free stay, offer still stands :)
Thanks for the great memories.

A true gem of team member and I am grateful for their contributions. As I said in the title, this resort is one of the best ones that we've ever stayed in!
We took a flight into Labuan Bajo airport where we were met by a member of the resort staff. She knew our names and drove us to the harbor (about 15 minutes away). We decided to wait for the wooden boat rather than immediately take the fast boat so we could explore the town, so she gave us instructions and stored our luggage. We later took a boat to the island (about 25 minutes via fast boat or about 40-50 mins with the wooden boat). Everywhere was beautiful along the way.
When we arrived to the resort we were greeted by four of the staff members who also all knew our names. We booked a private room on the beach and I do not regret it. There are several rooms on the beach, a few duplex, and a panoramic house at the top of the hill. I believe the duplex would serve best for a family.
The room was spectacular with a comfortable bed, at night they do a turn down service. The bathroom is outdoors, but very private so it didn't feel like we were outside.
We were so impressed with all the staff that knew our names and made conversation with us. It felt like we were a guest in their home.
In 12 hours we saw the most beautiful sunset, a night sky with the milky way, and a spectacular sunrise.
There is wifi connection only in the dining room and it was great to be disconnected from the world. They provide free paddle boards and snorkeling equipment. We saw all sorts of sea life including sting ray, octopus, turtle.
I highly recommend doing a tour to see the Komodo dragons and other nearby snorkeling and beaches. We had the most enjoyable days we could ask for and were so sad to leave!

Sudamala Seraya resort is like a little heaven in the Eastern Part of Indonesia. Stayed there for 4days 3 nights with family and friends.. and it wasn’t enough for me, i would love to stay longerrr.
The view in front of your room is absolutely breathtaking. I woke up early every morning around 05.30 am to watch the sunrise. Ohhh, too beautiful! And in the evening we went up to the hill in the island to watch the sunset. I have no words to describe because it’s just a super wonderful view from the hill, overlooking the beautiful scenery of typical Flores hills.
The room is very comfortable with island vibes interior, and there are 2 options of bungalow with semi outdoor or indoor bathroom. It depends on your preference. I slept very well every night by the way❤️
The beach is very clean, the sands is so soft, very comfortable to swim in the sea just in front of your bungalow. OOHHH the underwater view is so amazing, millions of colorful corals !!!! Not every beach front resort has this beautiful underwater view… where you can snorkeling or diving anytime you want.. they also provide the equipment and the lesson too for scuba diving!! Brilliant!
The staffs work extra mile to make sure we have the most comfortable stay. Thank you so much Pak Hubert (the GM), Obet, Putra, Yoga and Denshy for the hospitality !! You were all amazing!!
Thank you Obet and Putra for assisting me to get internet connection for work ( too bad i had to work for an important project when i was there at the remote island, with a very challenging internet connection which was actually acceptable, but yeah work still has to be done at that time AND amazingly it went well. I truly appreciate your assistance guys 🙏🏻🙏🏻). After work that evening, I enjoyed the swim pool by myself to calm down and i had the best evening staring at millions of star in the sky… unforgettable!
This is truly a highly recommended beach resort for family, friends and couple!! Hope to be back there someday! Thank you so much!!

A nice quiet place with a beautiful panorama from all points of the resort. The staff were all wonderful and the food was excellent with a good selection on the menu. we stayed for 10 nights. Wi-Fi connection at the restaurant only, and given the location generally worked pretty well but connection is not guaranteed. Traveled in January which is the wet season and the weather varied accordingly so access into the national park was a bit of a lottery due to the sea conditions in the park so if you really wanted to see the Komodo dragons then January is not the best time of year for you. House reef snorkeling is pretty good and the waters are well protected and as such were calm pretty much all the time. Massage service at the spa facility were great.

We spent 10 days in December 2021/January 2022 in the Sudamala Seraya Resort.
The Sudamala Seraya resort is an amazingly beautiful resort of very high quality. The service is very good and the whole staff are most welcoming, friendly, helpful and professional.
We were upgraded to a Privat Beach Bungalow which is located directly at the beach (like all other bungalows). It is beautifully decorated, well maintained and was very clean upon arrival and cleaned every day very well. We had an outdoor bathroom which we really enjoyed (there are bungalows with indoor bathrooms). The view of the beach, ocean and Seraya besar was amazing. We enjoyed sitting on our terrasse and our children loved to simply step out of the bungalow and play at the beach.
The private beach has beautiful white sand and is cleaned several times during the day. The house reef is amazing. We saw so many beautiful animals including black tip baby sharks, rays, lion fish, see turtels and small and big fish of all colors and sizes. The corals are equally beautiful and colorfull. The resort also provides kajaks, a stand-up paddling board and snorkling gear for free. We enjoyed kajaking very much, going around the island and to the other small islands nearby. We also took some beautiful walks on the island, accompanied by staff of the resort to show us the way as there are no real walking paths.
The food and service in the restaurant were excellent. We were surprised to find this quality on a little remote island. The resort also made a big effort in offering a beautiful barbecue at the beach for the new year’s celebration.
One of our highlights was our trip to the Komodo National Park with stop at Padar Island, the Pink Beach, the Komodo dragons, manta and turtle point. The resort organized this trip for us and two other families and it was very well organized.
The hotel also organized all Covid antigen/PCR tests at the hotel for us. That was very convenient.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Sudamala Seraya resort and hope to come back soon. A big thank you to the whole team at the Sudamala Seraya resort for taking care of us so well!

We are a family of 4 (with kids age 7 and 3), and we are back in Sudamala Seraya after 3 years! And we couldn’t be happier! Everything was well maintained and spotless, with picture perfect nature backdrop. The house reef is richer with more fishes, given the lack of visitors for the last 1 year.
The management is also super serious in maintaining health & safety protocols, to the point that they brought in the Mobile Brigade Crops of the National Pice, to do thorough disinfectant spray, when we arrived.
Given the management’s seriousness
In health & safety protocol, the easy access (direct flight from Jakarta), and the fact that this is one of the most beautiful / charming beachfront resorts in the world; it is tough to beat Sudamala Seraya as our #1 holiday destination at the moment!

I concur. There is one restaurant there, with what I believe offers a variety.
If you speak to the Chef nicely at lunchtime, he may be able to help with your requests for dinner. I thought they were very accommodating if you can them notice
As long as I remember, there is in-room safes. No need to worry about your belongings. You can lock your room (and bring the key) when you have activities outside
As above but I would suggest going out by speedboat and back on the slow boat. With our flights we would have been waiting for some time for the slow boat. They pick you up at the airport so if someone else is going you can split the extra cost of the speedboat. Coming back the slow boat is more relaxing and you get time to take in the scenery. Obviously you then go straight to the airport so aren’t hanging round at the dock which is safe but lively.
