Stayed two nights at Sudamala Resort Komodo with my parents and it was worth it. All of the staffs are so friendly, attentive and very helpful, from the fast check in process to the time of check out. The receptionist staffs are very friendly and helpful, they always greeted us when we arrived and chatted with us for a while.
The view of this Resort is breathtaking. There are a lot of plants, few small ponds with beautiful fishes and everything is very well maintained. They also do fogging twice a week, so even though there are lots of plants in the gardens, there aren't too many insects. But if you leave food for too long on the balcony/ room, ants will start appearing, but that's okay, because the ants are not too many and disappear quickly. The room is spacious & gorgeus, even the photos I took doesn’t do justice to how amazing it is in person. In the room, they don't give you water in plastic bottles like most hotels, instead there’s mineral water in glass bottles and you can ask the staff for refills, so it's environmentally friendly.
The breakfast was a la carte. I guess because of the pandemic they didn't serve buffet breakfast, but that's okay, the a la carte menu is varied and delicious. On the first day we’re having breakfast, we met the assistant manager. She’s very friendly and offering my dad a cup of hot ginger since she noticed that my dad was coughing. Thank you Ms. Mayo! At breakfast on our last day, we met the GM and he was very friendly too. He greeted & chatted with us for a while. Thank you for the hospitality, Mr. Sukadana!
Sadly, because of the pandemic this resort is quite empty of visitors, even though it is very beautiful and deserves to be seen and enjoyed by many people. Hopefully the pandemic will be over soon, so more people can enjoy the beauty of this resort. And later when it’s getting crowded and full of guests, hopefully the hospitality and service will still be as good as now.
Major shoutout to the GM, assistant manager, receptionist staffs, and all of the staffs, for their hospitality & services. Even when I was in a hurry to catch a flight so I accidentally left my laptop bag at the reception, they sent it straight to the airport before I even called to ask for the bag. Very thoughtful, thank you!
There weren’t any significant problems, in fact, it was a very pleasant experience. Thank you for the hospitality. I would definitely love to come back again to Sudamala Resort Komodo, and other Sudamala Resorts.

First time visiting Labuan Bajo with my family. We spent 1 night at Sudamala Resort Komodo before we started our Live on Board for island hopping. The resort is located only 4Km from the city center, not that far. The area is quite secluded which ensures no noise pollution when you want to have a good rest and recharge the next morning.
The resort seems to be designed to make you feel at home....away from home. The room is spacious with a contemporary touch combined with an open concept Balinese toilet cum wash room. Plus great service and friendly from the staff, which makes you feel comfortable.
Although the resort doesn't have a private beach, it is just a stone's throw away to reach the beach from the gorgeous swimming pool.
Pssttt..... there is a security officer at the beach to ensure guest safety. So when you're traveling with the young one, this is definitely a plus.
Hope we could stay longer next time and enjoy the local hospitality.

We visited Labuan Bajo in February'24 and spent a really short trip 3D 2N. We chose Sudamala as they have a room with direct access to the beach. Location isn't at the city centre, but it's not too far to get there and the hotel provides a shuttle that runs hourly from 08:00 to 17:00. They also provide a pick-up & drop off (free of charge) to the airport with the shuttle, which is a plus. Staffs are very friendly & polite. We chatted a bit with one of the shuttle driver (Anggit) and appreciate his recommendation in Bajo. He's very friendly and helpful.
Now, the room...we booked the beachfront room.. it's comfortable, bed's really big. everything was provided such as toiletries, hair dryer, etc. AC's cold too which we appreciate because it's extremely hot in Bajo. TV is lacking channel, but no big deal.
The bathroom is outdoor, and open. Not that it's a bad thing but we can hear the neighbour's taking shower or doing their business in the toilet, which makes it kinda weird. Also makes us paranoid if someone's taking a peek somewhere while we're taking shower. We prefer to have a covered bathroom just for privacy and security reasons. Not to focus on the negative, we're still pretty happy with our choice to stay here.
Since the location isn't near the city centre, there aren't that many f&b businesses around. We're too tired to make the trip, so we spent dinner for our first night at the resort's restaurant. Food's not bad, nothing special, we don't expect too much out of it, price is a little bit on the higher side, but like everything else in Bajo, because it's far from the mainland and tourism isn't as big as Bali, everything is more expensive to be transported to this island. So, don't expect it to be cheap.
If you're looking to spend a day trip to Padar island, Komodo Park, Pink Beach, diving, etc, the resort work together with another company and can plan the trip for you.
Overall it's a pleasant stay, and would recommend this resort to friends & family.

The resort, which opened in 2021, is on the beach around 50mins walk from the town/harbour or a short taxi ride (cost rp 100,000).
The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and clean.
It's is beautifully maintained with lots of greenery, a pond and very pleasant swimming pool with bar alongside to the right and the restaurant to the left
Staff work hard to keep the beach clean and there are plenty of beanbags and sunloungers to sit on and enjoy the view to sea and the wonderful sunsets.
Its a pity there's a lot of litter on the beach beyond the resort. Hopefully the hotel initiatives to reduce the problem will prove successful.
All the staff seem very friendly and attentive and are always saying hello and checking all is well.
I agree with the previous commentator that dinner portions could be a little larger. It would also be good if there was a shower room that guests could use after checking out if they are still wanting to use the pool before leaving. We were welcome to use the open air one by the pool close to toilets where you can change but it would have been nice to have a proper wash down, do hair etc in a private shower.
However all in all there's very little to find fault with at this lovely resort.

A great hotel to stay for a few days. Our pool villa was beautifully decorated and equipped, with a large bedroom, open air bathroom and shower and private enclosed garden with a pool large enough to swim in (not a plunge pool) - but see comment below.
The grounds and gardens are immaculate with ornamental fish ponds, there is direct access to the beach, and the bar has a swim up facility. Paul was an excellent barman and knows his way around cocktails.
The spa is to be recommended as treatments are excellent and reasonably priced.
We were unimpressed by the restaurant (chaotic for breakfast at the weekend) and the attitude of the restaurant manager.
A few words of caution :- avoid villas 211 & 212 - our sleep and peace was shattered by noise from the staff quarters, the restaurant kitchen, the access road adjoining, and worst of all, the very loud loudspeaker from the nearby Mosque announcing morning prayers at 4.00 am!

Additionally, we are very proud to know that Paul exhibited such incredible bartending skills and extended exceptional hospitality to you. We came as family and book a Seaview room. With an additional bed for 1 of our 2 kids. They informed us that breakfast was included only for 2 +1 as we were paying only for 3 and we agree to pay an additional breakfast for the second children (as it seems fair to me when is told at booking time).
The room are nice and well designed. Sea is impossible to be seen from the room, but are definitely beachfront. Unfortunately these room are near the neighbors land and they were running some sort of job woth a noisy diesel pump that make a lot of noise during the day.
During the night was raining and the path to the restaurant is all open and done in a strange way so that you feet will be completely wet, as we had Chrismas eve dinner we were wearing shoes.
The restaurant need lot of improvement, staff is superfriendly, but needs training... the only training they get is to get confirmation of any extra they need to add (and is fair) but they should also receive same standard of training on timing of delivery of the dish, cleaning old one before to serve the new one, don't serve welcome bread at the end of the dinner and don't serve the drinks after serving the main meal...
Anyway they really just need to get a better training and maybe a touch of modern 5 star hotel management, where service goes together with the request for payment and extras...
English speaking staff also is mandatory.. some group training for the current staff is necessary.
Overall I would rate it higher but I think they need to improve and they have plenty of room for do it if management is willing as staff is really attentive. Hope to come back next year and see some improvement.

Searched for many info and reviews before my trip to Labuan Bajo. Loved it at my first sight on Sudamala. It's just what I wanted. Quite new 1 or 2-floored buildings with Flores style decoration. Large gardens with lots of trees. Rooms might be the most spacious in town. Two basins, separate toilet and shower rooms, large balcony, complementary sparkling water and fresh fruits. Friendly and helpful staff with my large suitcase to my room. The food also surprised me - much delicious than the restaurants in other 5-star hotels in Bajo and very reasonable prices!
If you are looking for a holiday in a beach resort yet new enough and with facilities, also less 'influencer travellers' always taking selfie around, Sudamala could be the best choice.

Our 7-night stay in a villa with a private pool at Sudamala Komodo Labuan Bajo could not have been better. The resort is like an oasis with manicured grounds, beautiful gardens, and a gorgeous restaurant, pool, and swim-up bar overlooking the beach. We felt very safe eating and drinking at the resort, and all the food and drinks were delicious, especially the local dishes.
All the staff were amazing, and we were blown away by the level of customer service. We travelled to Komodo Island, having booked a day trip through the resort (they use their own boat), and had an experience we will never forget.
The resort has a "no plastic bottles" policy, which is fantastic. Fresh drinking water in our room was provided in glass bottles and was topped up several times daily. It's a wonderful initiative that every resort in the world should replicate. Well done, Sudamala! You are leading the way!

It’s true that the room is nice and new. Nevertheless, it presents quite a lot of problems which makes it more a 3 or maximum 4 star hotel.
It’s a disaster of a hotel, most of the staff doesn’t understand english (just a couple of managers), which makes communication extremely complicated when ordering at the restaurant. The food menu was extremely limited and also quite in the expensive side if you think you are in labuan bajo and the quality is not very good.
We had two big issues with them, which were not really well managed by the managers. First, we came here to go to a tour in the komodo national park and its islands. The hotel didnt want to provide beach towels for the day trip. As a tourist traveling indonesia in 5* hotels, you don’t carry towels. They kept telling us that it was the hotel policy (it’s a beach resort!!!!) to not let anything from the hotel to be taken away for some hours. The manager had 0 empathy and gave no solutions, she was not proactive at all and i could say not even polite. Finally, at 5:30 am in the morning before leaving the hotel, the receptionist who was a very kind person understood that you need towels in an snorkling trip. Second issue, it’s that they almost make us lose our flight. The night before checking out, I asked wether we should go before going to sleep to do the checkout since we had an early flight. They said no problem since the reception is open 24h. Of course we go to do the checkout 30 min before the airport transfer, and the receptionist was extremely slow (there was no one else) and then all the credit card machines were not working at all. We already had paid the hotel, so it was basically some meals to be paid, but again this was very poorly managed since they were the ones having issues and they were the ones not providing solutions. We left almost 30’ later that our supposed transfer time, almost losing the flight, since they were not even capable of providing its own bank account correctly. Finally, we made a bank transfer and not even then they are capable of confirming the reception of the money! It had to be us, the ones that were making sure everything is alright.
There were other things that were not good, the gym had no free weights (this was very weird), internet is extremely slow and their spa is not even reopened yet.
My recommendation, just go somewhere else.

A disclaimer: We just spent 7 days/6 night at the “Paradise on Earth” Sudamala Seraya Island resort which create such a high expectation of what a resort should be.
When we check-in at Sudamala Komodo, they truly have meet our expectation.
Greeted by the wonderful Ms. Mayo and her staff of Ms. Flo and Silvia, we were treated to a different kind of resort but with the same excellent standard Sudamala are known for.
Just 1 day before we arrive, the resort was fully book for events and the day we arrive, everything is immaculately in place, everything is clean and even the bird is chirping.
After a very quick Check-in process we were shown our room which in the 2nd Floor with a view of the ocean. The team seems to know that this week was our 25th Anniversary Wedding celebration and it was reflected in the room we are check in (Hint: Rose petal, high floor with great view, etc).
Our room are large with King size bed, his and hers sink, separate toilet and shower room. All the amenities are present, including bathrobe, slippers, Safe deposits, TV and small fridge. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets are amazing.
Although we are slightly disappointed that the SPA is currently not open (Due to COVID restriction but they will open in April 2022) the ocean front properties, the food and the tranquility of the resort clearly made us feels at home and almost everyone at the resort know us by name.
We dine in at the restaurant and the food is good. Surprizingly Ms. Yane and her team surprise us with a cake to celebrate the Anniversary.
I meet with Mr. Made Sukadana (GM for Sudamala Resort Labuan Bajo) again there and express our sincerest thanks on how Sudamala has create such a memorable experience for us.
Just like my previous review on Sudamala Seraya, my only minor feedback is for Sudamala Resort to update their Websites because of dated information which leads to several confusions from potential guest searching for information about Sudamala Komodo resort.
Thank you again the team of Sudamala Komodo and you will definitely see us again in the future.

Hi. We took a 3 day boat trip after our stay at the resort that provided all of the tours. There are a tonne of tour companies located in the downtown area that offer tours. The resort provides a complimentary shuttle into town that goes hourly so you could book there, although I wouldn’t know which tour company to choose. There are alot of them. Alternatively I’m sure that the front desk receptionist will be able to point you in the right direction upon check in. They’re super helpful.
I recommend sunrise yoga with Younas. It’s a complimentary yoga class. As long as you don’t mind getting up at 6:00 am. You’ll meet Younas around the pool bar area. Even if it isn’t a scheduled event I’m sure he would accommodate your group. It’s a great way to start the day.
Enjoy! We had a really lovely time there.
