The Lighthouse Motel & Cottages is one of only a few remaining 1950s drive-in motels in Nova Scotia. Under new ownership and management since Spring 2017, all 15 air-conditioned units have been completely renovated creating a boutique lodging experience along the LaHave River. Blending modern Canadiana with eclectic coastal elements, The Lighthouse boasts 500 feet of waterfront with a small private beach as well as several acres of green space appointed with communal BBQs, picnic tables for al fresco dining and various seating areas highlighted by a large communal firepit. Unique to the property is a renovated boathouse cottage converted into 3 studios directly on the LaHave River & a 2 bedroom cottage that can accommodate up to 6 guests. Situated on the historic Lighthouse Route minutes away from Crescent & Rissers Beaches, the property is perfectly situated for exploring nearby Lunenburg, Mahone Bay & Kejimkujik National Park. Oh, & dogs are welcome here!

We met Marc, one of the owners, who was very personable and helpful. The room was clean and delightful and the grounds beautiful! We also enjoyed the dogs! I was very impressed with the signage and directions for everything. Every detail has been thought out for their guests and it shows in their handiwork.

I don't know where to begin! This place is incredible. The owner was very welcoming and kind. No detail was overlooked, from the decor right down to the scent of the hand soap! The themed rooms were so unique, I wanted to stay a night in each just for the experience. The room was immaculate, the beds and pillows were so comfortable. It was like sleeping on a cloud! The view was also spectacular. I stayed with a friend, and we're already planning our next trip.

The absolute best place , this motel went way beyond our expectations from check in to check out. The detail in the decor was phenomenal, nothing was missed, from the coffee pods to the outdoor fire. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Truly a great experience, nice weather helped as well. We will be back

We appreciated the warm welcome and the attention to detail throughout, this was an absolute oasis in our travels. There was cold water in the fridge, and a coffee machine with little fresh milk packets, plenty of fresh white towels, AC and a fan, super comfortable beds with good quality bedding and a cheerful decor. The room was immaculate and really well thought through. We loved the design and the care that is clearly put into creating and maintaining the whole place. On a practical level, we appreciated having a little kitchen and dining area so we were able to make dinner (using the communal grill which was great) and have a fridge for drinks and snacks. The fact that everything was clean and in good condition made it very appealing to actually use the kitchen. The extra space was a luxury after small hotel rooms and restaurant meals 3x a day. We loved the fire pit (we met guests who are on their 4th year, 7th year etc which is also a very good sign) plus the river front beach and the pingpong table were a hit with our kids.We are already looking forward to going back!

This is an older motel, boathouse and cottage completely redone with remarkable style. The rooms are gorgeous, well equipped, comfortable and very clean. It sits right on the LaHave River and the views are spectacular. There’s a boat dock and swimming. The owners are super friendly and dogs are welcome.

Had a last Minute stay here back in June. The host was very friendly and greated us with a smile. We stayed down by the water in the Boathouse. The property was absolutely beautiful and well kept. We will definitely be back for a multi Nighy stay next year. Loved this place

The minute I walked into the office I knew I was gonna love this place. Mark is awesome! And when he took me to my room, I was so pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail. I especially love the Lakeside charm. At night they have a beautiful dock that you can watch the sunset on, and after that, the managers set a fire where you can sit around and talk with a glass of wine. There are too many wonderful things to say about this place in such a short space. Thank you Mark and Joseph for making this so special. I’ll be back!

We were visiting from BC,and planned to stay in Liverpool.Unfortunately, due to wildfire evacuations,we were struggling to find a room.We decided to head to Bridgewater,by then it was 8pm.We were so fortunate to find this place,it is a gem,we planned on one night, but stayed for two. Beautifully appointed rooms, each with a different theme, and so immaculately clean!! We needed two rooms, and chose kitchenettes .They were fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The grounds were amazing,we sat out on the dock, plenty of Adirondack chairs and tables, and a BBQ to use. There is also a firepit, unfortunately there was a campfire ban,so we couldn't make use of it.Very friendly and personable owner, enjoyed chatting with him. After years of road-tripping ,this is a place that I will remember,I would definitely recommend!!

My husband and I (and Labrador Retriever) stayed at this establishment last night. Not only did we get there late, we were more than welcomed. I dealt with Mark, who is a true gentleman, but who was also so accommodating. This place is a gem. He put us in "the Boathouse". One of the cutest and coziest places I've been in. Super clean, comfy bed, and has anything that you may have forgotten to pack. We really loved that our dog was as welcomed there as we were. The grounds are immaculate, and have a beautiful view. Lots of adirondack chairs and umbrellas to sit and relax. 5 stars!
