We spent one night in our camper van at Blue Heron. The campground is located directly at the sea and is very quiet. It has a communal kitchen and bbq area. Facilities are all very clean and owners are friendly. Our little daughter also liked the playground.

We spent our 3rd night in NZ here. Beautiful seaside site on the Bay. As with all of our Holiday Camp Sites, we had full service kitchen, hot showers and excellent hosts. WiFi is not free anywhere in NZ. If it is free is between100 and 250 MB.

We stayed at the holiday park over a weekend in one of the small cabins by the water. Our friends had their campervan next door. Cathy and Trevor are great hosts, friendly and will do anything to help where they can. We will definitely stay there again. Thanks Cathy and Trevor for accommodating us at short notice and for you...

This place is fantastic. We stayed 5 nights. The facilities were always clean and tidy. Theres a beautiful covered bbq area over looking the water. The manager is a top guy! This is a great spot. We'll be back. This place is value for money 😊

We have stayed in quite a few holiday parks and Blue Heron is one of my favourites. A clean holiday park that is on its own peninsula, has friendly hosts and cosy campsites. The provided list of must see places around the area was very useful. Free WiFi and DVDs were helpful for the children spend their down time. Highly...

We booked and told the Camp Manager that we wanted a site for one night for our motorhome - 2 people and 2 small dogs. When we arrived we were shown our site, and we were stunned. It was on metal, sloping downwards badly, and so small that we could not put out our awning. The vehicles on either side...

We are delighted with our choice of campsite for part of our Tiki Tour. It is the best we have used, small, friendly and very clean. Trevor and Catherine are really great hosts, knowledgeable and very helpful. They always have a smile. The views across the water are excellent. The campsite is superbly situated for visits in the area of...

We went to this park as it is dog friendly but we were very shocked at the price of $48.75 for a non powered site for 2 adults and a child. The faculties are outdated and coin operated so on top of the expensive non powered site you had to pay 50 cents for a shower. The only up side...

Thank you, Jemmimah. We found your review to be curious, as your star rating seemed to be disproportionately harsh when your comments about aspects other than the price - "up side of this park is that it was right on the beach, free wifi and the manger was nice," were overall positive. The rates were explained to you before you...

We've been there for 2 weeks and we really enjoyed our stay. The camping ground is well located and you have a very beautiful view. It is a small personal camping place and the owners and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the good time! Till & Caroline

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HOLIDAY PARK IN WHANGEREI: LOOK NO FURTHER!!! After traveling up and down and all through out the north of New Zealand, I have stayed in many holiday parks. That being said, Blue Heron is by far the BEST one of them all. Sitting right on its own peninsula looking out over two beautiful bays,...
