We were two couples and stayed here in September 2015.
We were driving between San Francisco and Reno and decided to spend a night a Sth. Lake Tahoe. The area has a plethora of accommodation available. We chose to stay at Motel 6.
we where tired and just wanted a clean place to stay, when we checked into our first room it was so dirty, there was urine with cigarette ashes all over the toilet, I went and asked for another room and it was not much better...More
The room was a bit smaller than we exspected, but we were only there to sleep as we came to Tahoe to enjoy Tahoe. Price was reasonable, my only complaint was our TV barely worked, the connection in the wall seemed to be broken and...More

Going anti-clockwise round the lake on Highway 50 onto Highway 89 via Camp Richardson and Emerald Bay takes less than 30 minutes. In winter that is an issue as near Emerald Bay it shuts frequently for avalanche control clearance but in summer should be fine. Going clockwise round the lake Highway 50 onto Highway 28 via Incline Village and Tahoe City takes 55 minutes. On approach to Emerald Bay there are sharp hairpin climbing bends with no barriers in places so don't go too crazy speed wise. Have fun there and don't spend too much in the casinos.
