We have been here a few hours at Heavenly Inn with my family of four. I can honestly say I am not too impressed. Thi is a very no frill hotel. There is a tiny cracker box parking lot .that makes things difficult. There have a very dangerous outdated staircase leading to the second level rooms. It is snowing heavily, and trying to get luggage up and down this slippery staircase is not cool. The room is basically 2 queen beds, a small bathroom, and a tiny kitchen area with no stove. No safe in the room. A room heater that looks like it was installed in the 1980's. Really, the only real positive is the location which is nice. Watch out with management here..they are one of the very few places in the tahoe area who WILL NOT..cancel a reservation. As marriott & Hilton vacation club members, we are used to a certain standard while traveling. This place does not Meet our standards but in a last minute pinch..it does suffice. We will most likely not stay here again

What a great deal on a room that is so close to town! We were able to park the truck, and did not need it until after we departed. Room was clean and affordable, service was quick and came with a smile. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed in a room with a kitchenette for a week and experienced a host of problem, as follows:
1. When toilet paper got low, we were told it was complimentary and we had to buy our own.
2. No dining table to eat at. We had to use the coffee table and sit on the living room sofa and chairs to eat at it. it was not comfortable as your knees were jammed into the table and you had to bend over to eat.
3. No phone in the room.
4. No swimming pool.
5. No dishwasher.
6. Both sides of the double sided sink were quite small for washing dishes. The dish rack was too big to fit in either side of the double sided sink.
7. No instructions on how to turn on the in-room hot tub. The maintenance man was overly defensive and irritated after we told the office the next day that we could not use it. He made quite an issue of pointing to the after- hours number posted on the office door and buried in the body of the welcome letter we could have used to call for help. It would have been nice if the room had a phone for us to call on. He had just had loud disagreement with someone else nearby so I assume he was already in a bad mood. He showed us how to turn it on and it involved multiple steps on a high tech panel. It was not a simple on/off button. I work with computers and also have a hot tub so can usually figure these things out but not this one.
8. No back up garbage bag liners. The front desk was hesitant to give us more when we ran out until we pointed out it was really for their benefit to keep the garbage cans clean. As a matter of fact, that logic might have worked for the toilet paper if we had thought to use it.
9. The TV sound volume fluctuated. This meant we were constantly adjusting the volume up and down to compensate. Also, when turning on the TV, the sound would come on without a picture. It took multiple tries to also get a picture when turning on the TV. The maintenance man reset the TV. When the problem resurfaced near the end of our stay, he seemed indifferent to it. It was not resolved before we left.
10. Room not ready at their designated check in time. In fact we arrived about a half hour after the check in time. This would not have been bad if this was the only problem that week and if they did not have a check out time that was way earlier than most places have.
11. A wad of someone else’s plastic bags left in the kitchen when we checked in.

Just average....bit overpriced for what you get.
We had to ask for the lights in room over Jacuzzi be replaced, not working properly.
Pillows soso.
We actually had attempted break in? @ 5 AM someone tried to open our door. We were on 3rd Floor, only door at the top of stairs. No "possible mistake". By time I had weapon in hand w/ pants on, and went out no one in sight.

I booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced, but also because other guests reported the staff was good. Upon check-in, when I asked where to grab a bite to eat, the clerk told me to read the letter on my bed in the room. During my stay, every time I asked a question, I received a curt answer. The property is old and the room was just OK. I would not stay here again.

Our stay at Heavenly Inn was splendid. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The kitchenette was nice and helped us save time and money. Heavenly Inn is located on a quiet side street, in walking distance to shops, restaurants, the gondola and the lake.

Most importantly though was the warm and friendly staff. Owner, Joe was full of information about the area and directed us to some great areas to hike. Hector, who worked the office in the evenings, was very helpful and always had fresh cookies baking for the inn's guests. Even part time evening staff were helpful getting us to great hiking spots. It's clear that the folks at Heavenly love Tahoe and want to share this beautiful place with those who stay with them.

I would go back...and recommend Heavenly Inn highly.

This was our first trip to the Heavenly Inn and Lake Tahoe and it was a lot of fun. We're talking about returning next summer! The hotelkeepers Debbie and Joe were very friendly and accommodating, and gave us great suggestions on things to do.

The hotel is located in a quaint town at the south end of the lake. Everything is within an easy walk including a sandy beach, restaurants and pubs, casinos, boat rentals, shops including a grocery store, and a movie theater. We drove around the entire lake (takes 3 hours minimum without traffic) and thought the southern part had the best mix of attractions (north is too commercialized for our taste, east is mostly parkland and a good hiking destination, west is a mix of residential and parkland). There's also a fun dinner cruise on a paddle wheel boat (the Dixie Queen; like on the Mississippi River) that was a blast!

One of the neatest things about the town is the gondola, which takes you to the top of the nearby Heavenly Ski Resort. The daily pass is pricey, but we bought a seasonal pass for only a few dollars more and rode to the summit every day and ate a muffin while sitting in the sun in front of the ski lodge! That was relaxing, and the view from the gondola is stunning.

We enjoy outdoorsy stuff and during our week hiked about 45 miles at various points. The Desolation Wilderness is a lot of fun, and the name itself is intriguing! Climb to the summit of Mt Tallac for a great view. Echo Lake is also picturesque, but perhaps the neatest thing are the backcountry lakes of which there are many. The waterfalls are quite pretty, especially Horsetail falls (about 25 minutes from the hotel). Don't miss Emerald Bay too.

Joe was incredibly friendly. He's an outdoorsman who didn't steer us wrong on hiking destinations. He was a wealth of information and a great guy. Ask him for hiking destinations and you won't be disappointed.

I was surprised by the water. It's very clear and a brilliant blue. However, even in high summer the water temperature is too cold for swimming except for a few minutes. But the beach down the street from the hotel is great and there's even a restaurant right on the sand. On evenings I did sudoko and watched the sun set behind the mountains.

We flew in from Philly and landed in Reno. From there it's an easy hour drive to the hotel on good roads.

Our trip was very relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I'd highly recommend the Heavenly Inn and South Lake Tahoe!

Peeling paint, bugs, a kitchen that was a microwave and fridge, no stove top or oven, no table, no chair and a tv that never worked. Dog friendly but not even a small enclosed area for off leash. Please go to a Motel 6 instead. You will have a much better stay.

Response from Metacoastal M, Public Relations Manager at Heavenly Inn Lake Tahoe
Responded Jul 31, 2019
Dear Empress. We regret that you did not enjoy your stay and wish that you had contacted us to discuss your concerns while you were here. Some of our rooms offer kitchenettes with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, blenders and either breakfast bars or tables and chairs. Not all rooms offer this amenity, which is reflected in the pricing. The room you booked is not advertised as having a kitchenette, but rather a mini fridge and a microwave. As for the TV not working, it is unusual for guests not to inform us right away. That is something that we can address immediately. We are a dog-friendly hotel, with a limited number of designated pet-friendly rooms. Our pet policy states that pets must be well-behaved dogs must be leashed at all times, when outside of their owner's room. This helps to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests, as well as all pets. Thank you for your feedback.

Hi, Thanks for your questions. We are located just 3 blocks from the Heavenly Resorts Gondola lift and there are several other ski resorts within 20 minutes of our location. I would suggest Kirkwood as a second option. As for Shuttle Service from the airport (I assume you are flying into Reno) we recommend South Tahoe Express which is quite affordable and has a drop off point at Heavenly village, just down the street from us. We hope this helps and have a safe trip!
