Our family spent 5 nights at Timber Ridge just prior to the opening of the ski season. Our original stay was to be 4 nights but had to add the 5th night and the hotel was so accommodating to us and we were able to stay in our same room. We booked a two bedroom suite (full one bedroom suite with kitchen and the adjoining single room) at a great price. There is an additional $29/night charge for valet parking (no self parking) and the hotel has a text system for your car retrieval that works well. The kitchen is well equipped and we found anything we needed to prepare some meals in our room. The location of Timber Lodge is excellent. Located at the Gondola and within the Heavenly Village there are so many choices of eating and snack places. And just steps away from the State Line and the casinos of Nevada. Our room was very clean and when we needed extra towels, soap, etc it was brought up to our room quickly. There is no daily room service with Covid and we did not miss that service. There is a nice hotel gym but was closed for most of our stay due to Covid restrictions. The staff was very nice and did their best to have the guests conform to Covid rules of face masks and social distance. There is even a sign on the elevator doors stating only one person in the elevator at a time expect for family members. Inside our room the TV controls were wrapped in a plastic sleeve to insure Covid sanitation. Also when checking into the hotel the luggage carts are clearly marked which ones have been sanitized. All in all this is a wonderful hotel and location for your stay in South Lake Tahoe.

Stayed for 3 nights while snowboarding in Tahoe. The location of this property cannot be beat. The Heavenly Gondola is steps away (literally) and Heavenly Village has a nice selection of restaurants and bars that are walkable. Our room was a studio with a king bed and a small kitchenette. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was cleaned thoroughly each day, and we never heard our neighbors--very quiet! Our only (very minor) complaints were that the room was a little warm (surprising in the winter!), even when the A/C was set to the coldest setting, and the hot water in the shower took a long time to heat up. Otherwise our stay was great! The 4 jacuzzis near the pool were perfect after a day of snowboarding. The front desk, concierge, and valet staff were all friendly. Valet is a little pricey per night, but no more than any other resort, so that was expected. Would definitely stay here again, especially if skiing/snowboarding at Heavenly Resort!

Marriott is doing an amazing job. All staff have masks and gloves. The rooms are deep cleaned between guests and stay empty 48hrs before next guest enters.
Front desk manager says they limit to 75% occupancy as well.
Everything else is on demand request. No one enters your room unless you request it. Pool area chase lounges are spaced out and if demand grows the number of people are limited. Barbecue area units are limited to maintain social distancing.

I stayed in Mammoth Westin and the same there.

We also are diligent as well. Most people honor the mandatory mask use, though you always have a few bad apples 🍎

Well we knew when we booked that their would be some changes during the stay due to COVID19, and that's understandable. But for owners you expect a little more. Nope. They cleaned out alot of stuff from the kitchen, so I've had to call the front desk for some stuff like dishwasher soap, dish soap, sponges, crockpot. We can not use the usually provided humidifiers due to the Pandemic so we're stuck with having bloody noses cracked lips, dry eyes. Not fun! I made the choice before we arrived, to cook all our meals in our suite, which for now is best due to the county as most, are in the most restrictive tier, so if restaurants are open, its take out or you have to eat outside (its like 30°F) And to my knowledge hotels, resorts, etc., are supposed to be at 30% or maybe 50% capacity. This place is packed. I can see most of the room at night have lights on, and people in them. I think that's a no no? People and the staff here have ALL been great at wearing masks. Here's where I'm venting, because I can't reach the front desk, guest services, concierge, ANYONE. Our internet service has been out going on 2 days. So we can't even call on our room phone to ask about it, or ask for supplies for the Villa. We were supposed to be on a Zoom meeting this morning, it didn't happen. We don't get a good enough phone signal from our room to use our phone as a hotspot! I tried using my cell phone to call the hotel's front desk to get some answers and it just takes you to a recorded message saying they're all busy. No point in leaving a message, as it probably is connected through the internet. So now we'll have to go down to the front desk if we need supplies, like toilet paper, paper towels, soap. Its really ridiculous when you've been used to getting cleaning service at least one time during your weeks stay. You won't get help with luggage, groceries, chests, skis, anything, unless YOU load it onto their rolling carts, then they can push it to your room and YOU unload it. But they don't have a problem taking your car you've just been driving, and put in the underground garage that we're not allowed in without them. My husband had to be escorted down there on foot so he could retrieve his hearing aid box. (Liability i guess). Im REALLY upset about not having Internet, since we've all been accustomed to depending on it, and doing all our banking, bill paying, securing our homes by it and viewing activity on it, by internet. We can't step outside for air, no balcony for us! Instead we can only get the window open about 3 inches before it hits the guard so you cannot open further (dang, we forgot the tools we usually bring to take those off)

This was our first trip to Lake Tahoe and it will be our last. Overall it was a good trip if not for the smoke from the wildfires in the state. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of casinos, gondola ride, and restaurants. Our room faced a side street and was quiet. It was clean and sanitized, the bed was comfortable, and we had a small "kitchen" area which included a refrigerator/freezer, sink, and microwave. However, because we are not owners/members, we did not receive linen service, nor were our beds made daily and garbage not picked up. We had to ask for clean towels, etc. and we made our own bed. "Because of COVID-19", ice is not readily available on each floor. We asked for ice at the front desk and were given just a small bag. It would have been nice to have been told this when we made our reservations. We found the people, staff and other travelers, not very friendly. I guess we're just used to having a few more amenities than were offered to us especially when paying $300 per night.

The Marriott Timber Lake is in a prime location; steps to gondola to the top of Heavenly Ski resort as well as a five minute walk to the Casinos (Harvey’s, Harrah’s, Hard Rock and Bleu). It’s also connected to a quaint vibrant shopping and dining complex that’s great for adults and families as it includes attractions such as miniature golf. Just a block away is a large grocery store where you can get supplies for the In room kitchen. The property is very clean and the rooms sanitized including the remotes and bathroom and kitchen supplies In sealed bags. A very enjoyable stay but parking is valet only and $29.00 a night.

My wife, two teenage sons, and I recently made our third trip to the Timber Lodge/Grand Vacation Club in Tahoe. We had stayed at the Grand Vacation Club four years ago and at the Timber Lodge three years ago. Given our prior experiences at these hotels, we were looking forward to yet another stay with the service levels we’ve grown to expect from Marriott properties. Although the room was still very nice, large, and comfortable, the service during our 4 night stay was very disappointing. Some of the service-related issues we encountered were as follows:
1. We had to wait more than an hour after we arrived for our room to be ready at 4:30 PM local time.
2. The mandatory valet required to park at the hotel “lost” our car for a while and we had to wait nearly 45 minutes to get our car one night.
3. The gym at the hotel was being remodeled. When my wife, who wasn’t skiing, asked if she could use the gym at the Grand Vacation Club just across the gondola plaza during the middle of the day, she was forcefully told that was a totally separate property and she couldn’t use those facilities.
4. My wife spent over 25 minutes on hold trying to reach the front desk one morning and gave up before anyone answered.
5. The hotel didn’t clean the room once during our 4 night stay. We were told we’d need to pay $60 extra to have our room cleaned. As far as I recall, this information wasn’t communicated when we made our online reservation or when we checked in. Making matters worse, if a room cleaning isn’t included once in a multi-night stay, one would think that extra soap, shampoo, toilet paper and other essentials would have been provided at the beginning and/or throughout our stay. Instead, we had to make multiple visits to the front desk to request these items (see note about 25 minutes on hold with the front desk).
Perhaps all these issues were related to Covid and/or Covid protocols. Regardless, as a Titanium Elite traveler, we were quite surprised and disappointed by the level of service we received during this stay.

I've stayed at this property a number of times over the past 5-6 years. As a skier with an epic pass/skiing heavenly, you can't beat the location. That being my top priority in south lake, I keep coming back. I most recently stayed 1/11/20-1/12/20. I'm Marriott Titanium Elite (for life). Most properties give you the standard "thanks for our loyalty", when checking in, this property never has once. I've also never been able to check in even marginally early (couldn't check in at 3:30pm on 1/11). I also got the feeling they didn't even check to see if a room was available while I was standing there. This hotel has one of the earliest check-outs on top of it (10:00am). So just a heads up for the Marriott regulars as to what to expect. I'm not sure if this is because it's a vacation ownership property (different service training etc.). If the front desk experience was much better, I might actually consider timeshare ownership here.

I previously stayed at Timber Lodge and gave it a 5 star review, My wife and I returned for a 5 night stay and left within 20 min of checking in, Here is my review and story
We came back up to Lake Tahoe on Feb.28th for a five night stay at Timber Lodge but only spent 30 minutes in our room before we left for another place to stay The Marriott Grand Residence. We arrived at Timber Lodge around 4:15 PM just a few minutes after check in was allowed (4PM) and was given the 1BR room we reserved. Our room was on the 1st floor and the desk clerk told my wife that it was a nice quiet location even on the first floor. What he did not tell her that our view out of our living and bedroom windows was similar to a prison yard, a high concrete wall and a chain linked fence enclosure (please see downloaded new photos). During our very brief stay we noticed a few workers going into that fenced area for supplies, not a very private room, one that had to keep the shades down. We asked to be moved to a different room in Timber Lodge (my wife is very claustrophobic and needs to see out of a window) and were told by Tyler DeJohn (front desk manager) that he could not move us because he had no availability of 1 BR rooms and that due to Covid once you enter a room they would not have time to clean it to have it available to reuse. My wife is a Platinum Marriott Member and in her profile it states a preference for a high floor and quiet location. I know that at Vacation Club Residence runs a bit different from a more traditional hotel, but checking in within 15 minutes of the earliest you could, I do not believe that there was not one room for us to move into that was not a owner occupied location, and I said that to Mr. DeJohn but he would not even check his list. This was not the way we had wanted to start our 5 night vacation in South Lake Tahoe. Timber Lodge did not charge us for the cancellation and move to another location.

Hi, thank you for your review of Marriott's Timber Lodge. We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the villa you received during your time with us. As a vacation ownership property, Owners do receive priority on villa location requests. While we would love to meet everyone’s requests, it sometimes is just not possible when occupancy is high. However, the resort team will make every effort to accommodate. We are happy you were able to find alternative accommodations within the Marriott family. Thank you for being a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member and we hope to provide a better experience on a future stay.

We loved the location of this hotel as you can walk right out into Heavenly Village with tons of bars, restaurants, shops, coffee places, ice cream stores, etc. The rooms are basic and there could definitely be more counter space in the bathroom. We liked that the villa rooms had a separate seating area, dining table, and full kitchen. Staff was nice and when we had an issue with hot water they promptly moved us to a different room at our leisure.
