We found the Landing because it was the only "5-star" resort in Lake Tahoe, and I was looking for something special for my fiance. Actually, before I start this review I'd like to explain why I put 5 stars in quotes. Simply put, many hotels claim to be 4 or 5 stars, but when it comes to details, location, customer service, amenities, and true luxury, they fall very short. So with that said please understand The Landing is a TRUE 5-star experience.
From the moment we walked in we were treated like we were special, our bags taken and put away, welcomed with an incredible scent, smile, and drink. It was exactly what we wanted after a long flight.
Our room was not only extremely comfortable and well furnished, it just felt expensive and what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The bathroom cut ZERO corners as it was nicer than any hotel (or house) bathroom I've ever been in as the piano tile floors were preheated to 85 degrees and the toilet seat was also preheated! I can not explain what a treat this was. My fiance and I said "wow" probably 500 times just putting our toiletries away.
Now onto the rest of the hotel (views, restaurant, gym, pool, location, staff). The hotel is literally right in front of the beach. You wake up to the sun lighting up the mountains and it took our breath away. We also ended up eating at the restaurant every night (which is extremely unlike us). Normally my fiance and I like to venture outside the hotel and see whats around but the food at Jimmy's wasn't just "good for a hotel", or "good for a 5 star hotel" it was Fantastic and I would put it up with some of the best restaurants I've been to, period.
The gym and pool/ hot tub are clean, and more than what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel.
Lastly, and most importantly, what makes this place so special, and why I've already booked my next trip, the people who work here are next level. I left feeling like I had friends for life. They're caring, kind, obviously hospitable, and now I feel like I have a real connection to a place I love. From the front desk to the bartenders to the GM and everyone in between. Thank you
Okay I think I said enough. Just book your stay if you read all of this.

We have stayed here several times in the last few years. It is a perfect location the restaurant although very pricey is very goo and the service is also very attentive. We had massages and that service was also very good. Beautiful setting gorgeous views from the restaurant. I was disappointed that they charge $30. A day for parking regardless of where your car is parked even on the street. Lastly i do want to say although I really enjoy this hotel the exterior on the rooms are starting to look worn, I think management should definitely consider updating the decor. The dice they use for foot stools for example have chipped paint throughout. These types of things need to be replaced or removed it just looks bad. The rooms aren’t cheap so the state of the decor should reflect that. Small things make a big impression.

Everything about this hotel if 5 star. My wife and I, along with friends, had one night to ourselves before checking into a time share with family to celebrate a milestone birthday. I am very happy we chose The Landing! Throughout our stay, we were given a high level of care and attention to detail one could only dream of. Our room was clean, spacious, and offered a spectacular view of the lake. The team at The Landing were attentive and gracious at all times. Big shout out to their General Manager, David Ahern. The wine list did not disappoint! If you are contemplating where to stay while in South Lake Tahoe, look no further than The Landing. We will be back!

Not sure where to begin. The initial reception was not friendly or helpful with information on wifi or why tickets were given to us. I had to go back to the lobby for those answers myself. Additionally, we were not offered champagne as the people after us were. One of two rooms was not ready which was understandable as we arrived before 4pm. Besides a few minor complaints not worth mentioning, the first room was fine. Apparently my lake view room was getting repainted in part and was airing out. Not exactly what I want to breathe on vacation, but I let it go. The room, however, was completely nasty. Blood on comforter, dirt on pillowcase and lots of dirt on floor (which some of it could have been vacuumed if cleaned properly). Pics attached are just some of the pics sent and shown to management. The room had to be cleaned 3-4 times before finally the manager came and got a vacuum himself and cleaned it the next day. I will mention Charles, the manager, was kind in all of this. The highs were in the upper 80s and the AC in the room never worked. I tried every single day to get it fixed and it would at best work for a few hours and then stop. It never worked at night. The friendly valet, Kevin, (after a hassle trying to get one) set up a fan for me, but I was never comfortable. The worst is that after all of this the management only paid for one lunch at Jimmy's (which was good) and parking and resort fees which I was told totaled $200 total for my entire stay ($300 total including lunch) I have never even received my final room bill for both rooms after repeatedly asking. I even asked the main manager a week later who said he sent it but didn't, so I can't even confirm resort and parking fees were taken off the bill along with lunch. I believe the minimum they should have offered is one night free after all the hassle and disturbance to my first visit to Lake Tahoe. This has been the worst experience in a supposed "luxury" resort I have ever had. It is the first time in all my years of travel to even write a negative review. I hope to save others from having such a horrible experience.

First, this hotel boasts itself to be a 5-star hotel. From reception to room cleanliness, parking space, and amenities, this is closer to a 3-star hotel. The views from some rooms are worth five stars, but that is it. On arrival, the bellboy checked us in because the receptionist was unavailable. No one took the time to explain the hotel's amenities. The parking spots were difficult to find because many trailers were parked everywhere in the hotel parking lot. Getting to the room: The view is fantastic, but there are no amenities besides coffee pods. There are tea bags but no kettles for hot water. When we asked for one, they said they had none. This is a pet-friendly hotel, the pet cookie jar at reception was empty, and the doggy poop bags at the parking site were empty for the whole stay. When asking the reception about things to do at Lake Tahoe, only one bell boy knew where to have a nice walk, everyone else did not have a clue. The hotel has no lounge or rest area

My husband and I booked a lakeview room for our honeymoon. At the time of reservation there was only double bed rooms available so I had requested a single bed if one became available.
We got into town before check in time but came in early. On arrival we were immediately greeted and congratulated for our wedding and informed that we got a free upgrade to the premium lakeview suite. As if that wasn’t kind enough, there was also chocolate and cold wine waiting for us in the room too!
The huge balcony was amazing for sunsets and sunbathing, the fireplace was cozy at night and the bathroom was luxurious with the heated floors, towel rack, steamer shower, and jetted tub. We were just steps away from the beach.
Every staff member we came across had a smile on their face as they greeted everyone coming and going. They were either great actors or truly love their jobs. They did a great job at making us feel special during our trip. It could not have been any more perfect.
10/10 I will highly recommend to anyone I know visiting Lake Tahoe

Would give it zero if we could. Appalling hotel, unkempt pool area was unusable and the pools location meant you were almost swimming on the public footpath with no privacy, spa closed, hotel food poor. Ground floor room on the road had a temporary catch on patio door as lock didn’t work. But the worst was being given a room with an adjoining door to another room with a family of 4 staying there! Not their fault that the baby cried and toddler screamed and that we could hear every word they spoke. We asked for a room change but we’re told the hotel was full (it absolutely wasn’t!). If it marketed itself as a cheap motel then OK, but this is a very pricey place (massively over priced compared with all the other hotels we used for our fabulous month long USA trip) and that is totally unacceptable. When we complained, they then tried to rip us off by debiting our credit card with nearly $2000 …… our trip had been all prepaid by our travel agents. Took ages to get a refund. Rip off charges for parking too that they didn’t forewarn us about …… our advice is just park in the street outside, or better still avoid this hotel at all costs. Hope this is useful …….. I see there are many other reviews written in the same vein so wish we’d read them before we booked.

The location is great! The stay were very friendly and attentive. But felt the overall price of the stay did not match the cost. Safe in room locked upon arrival - maintenance had to fix it. TV was not working properly - maintenance had to fix it. Even then the TV did not work well changing channels often channels were blank. Internet was poor and Netflix was constantly buffering. Fireplace did not work - maintenance had to fix it. There was a half eaten milkbone on our outdoor patio. Bathroom floor could have been cleaned better. Overhead shower head dripped cold water on your head while showering. No amount of adjusting the diverter fixed this. No valet service the entire stay. 4 of the 6 cardio machines in gym were inop during our stay. Hotel's Pelaton account login credentials didn't work. Lakeview & rooftop decks had no chairs or any seating whatsoever, despite it being nearly 50F one day. Spa said we could not use the steam rooms, etc. unless we had booked a service. So with all this, we paid a $65/night resort fee basically for the pool??? Very frustrating due to many amenities not available or not working. $30 for self/valet parking, I thought was unwarranted considering there was NO valet. The staff said they stopped valet since it was slow. Also, the hotel could use a remodel. Carpets were dingy and just overall the rooms and hotel felt very outdated. If our stay didn't amount to nearly $500/night (with all fees, taxes, etc.), I'd be less critical of some of these things.

The accomodations had a comfortable spacious living room and an excellent bubble bath. The restaurant has a salad called "3 Beet Salad" that is excellent. The catering service also had an excellent fruit salad with coconut sprinkles that was almost like dessert. There is an outdoor venue with a spectacular view to hold meetings. The location is short walk to the beach with ample seating areas and kayak/SUP rentals.

This is not a resort. It’s an average, but very expensive motel. It is outrageously expensive, for a tiny room. We had a lake view (which was extra) but it came with a noisy road and lots of foot traffic. The construction of the facility was so poor that we could hear people pounding in the room above us as well as next to us. There is a mandatory facility fee of $75 hidden in the fine print, IN ADDITION TO the $500 per night room fee. The description of this place in NO WAY jives with what you see and experience when you get there. The lobby and the restaurant are OK. That’s about it. The rest of it feels like a cheap motel. You’re better off finding a campsite on the shores of Lake Tahoe, than wasting your money on this place.

Room Tip: Find out what you’re getting for the mandatory facility fee. It is very little and not worth it.
