You take the ferry (free) in Montmagny and 40 minutes later you are at Isle aux Grues. You need to check the schedule since the ferry is dependant of the tide. Typically there are 2 rotation at every high tide. You there with you car, RV, bicycle or on foot. Maison du Grand Héron is located next to the warf. Several type of accomodation are offered. My wife and I stay at the Maison Oscar next to the Auberge. A very confortable room althrough the shower was of the minimal size possible. WE selected, and I recommand you take their package with breakfast and diner included. The Maison du Grand Heron Restaurant offer the finest breakfast and diner you may dream of. A very special cuisine with local ingredients truly delectable. Visiting Isle aux Grues is typically a one day trip, so ideally stay 2 night and you will have a full day to visit the island at you pace. It is really worth a visit. Robert Mabit…
This boat trip was verry interesting because the captain give us details about the ilands near here. This hotel is famous. Good original meats, clean and the guys out there where gentle and helpfull. We took a bus trip on this iland. with a guide who give us explanations about the life here. So i will go back there with friends.
What a cosy, comfortable inn. Absolutely delicious meals prepared by Nicole. Lovely walks in the woods and even at low tide one can walk around the western end of the island. If the ferry schedule doesn't run for you, one can always fly over. Leaving the car at the ferry terminal for when you catch a ferry back. Check out their site for yurts and teepees `glaping` (glorious camping)! You could rent the house next door and have the whole family, we have done it. Relax take a breather...
Nice place to stay if you want to spend your day cycling over the island. Rooms are very small but simple and comfortable. Staff is polite but too busy to chat with the customers. The diner was deceiving. The dish on the menu changed when we order (provided to us on a piece of paper). For the price of the diner we would have expected more (28$ Table d'hôte). Poorly breakfast as well. Carole, QC
