We had our meals at Melba during our staying at Cazanele Dunarii . Very good food 👌 Staff are friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Nice terrace with beautiful view 😍
Family of 7, spent 3 nights at Melba. PRO: Overall rating is significantly increased by the location, food quality (a la carte menu) and the specific restaurant staff that served us during our stay. Location is really lovely, with restaurant tables and sun lounges right on the bank of the river. The restaurant served mainly traditional Romanian dishes, quite savory, alongside fish and fish specialities, which although frozen (mentioned in the menu), were delicious. We were served by a young waiter throughout our stay (Alex), who was incredibly professional and polite, catering to our every need, reserving tables for us and already waiting for us with "the usual beverages" when we arrived. CON: The accommodation itself is quite outdated and poorly maintained, room furniture, bathroom and amenities would require significant upgrades. During our 3-night stay, our room was not cleaned once and towels were not changed. Although we had booked a room for 3, the room was only prepared for 2 (pillows and amenities). Although food quality was good, there are a few drawbacks to keep in mind: 1. Breakfast is fixed and same every day (2 eggs, one slice of feta cheese, 3 slices of meat, a chorizo, half a tomato, a few slices of cucumber, toast, butter, jam) served directly at the table, the only variety is the way one wants their eggs cooked. Unless you specifically ask for espresso, coffee is filter and quite poor. Wait time is 30-45min for food in the morning. Breakfast is included in room price and cannot be excluded. 2. Lunch and dinner require patience: food takes its time, as the restaurant is most often full, with people coming from other places as well to eat here because of the location and they seem to be clearly understaffed. Expect 1h wait time at least. 3. Main dishes do not come with sides, those you need to order separately (avg. 2.5 euro per side dish). Expect higher prices (normal for the location). 4. Soups are only served until 7pm, although it is not mentioned in the menu. There is a pool with sun lounges, but you need to come in early to reserve one. If you want a beach towel, they require a 50 RON deposit/each, that you can recover when you bring it back. Overall, I would recommend this place for its location (5mins drive from the statue of Decebal, beautifully visible from the bridge) and food, but keeping expectations low on accommodation. …
Been here for 3 days, breakfast included, it took over an hour for our order to be taken and served, same went for lunch, went elsewhere for the rest of the meals. The food is really bad, and cheap looking. Don’t have a great review for the rooms either. Look for other places if you can!
During August 2020, we - a group of three couples - spent three nights at Melba. Therefore, I would describe our experience as a pretty good one, detailing further. Rooms: they were clean and comfortable, with really amazing views. One of them though had some issues with mold. It is quite understandable as it was on the ground floor and the humidity in that area is high, but for people with issues related to mold it might be problematic. We were also surprised by the choice of having floor tiles instead of parquet in one of the rooms. We had our towels changed everyday, with the clearing personnel being really nice and helpful. Some mosquito nets for the windows would be useful in most of the rooms, as during the night there are a lot of insects looking for light that end up getting in the room if you don't pay attention to keep the window closed. Pool and terace: the pool was clean. We also appreciated having the kids pool separated from the one for adults, as it didn't get too crowded during our stay. Food & restaurant service: Being one of the most accessible options in the area, the prices were a bit odd, having generally cheap beverages, but surprisingly expensive side dishes. Having few other options, we dined in most of the time. The fish dishes tasted good, but not exactly fresh - which we expected more of in this area. The service quality was different with each meal. While at dinner the food came pretty fast and tasted good, at lunch next day we had to wait about an hour to get the food, for it to arrive cold (the mashed potatoes we ordered) or uncooked (schnitzel). Also some portions were really small for their price(the greek salad, the skewers). Our overall experience was good, as the positioning of this particular resort is really convenient for someone looking to spend a couple of days by the Danube. …
Extremely poor service. It took about an hour for our order to be taken. The food came an hour later, and the dishes were cold. In addition, I attached pictures of the gyros I took, which was actually fried pork and with a lot of sour cream sauce. In the end, the dessert was not brought to us, and the waiter refused to bring us the tax receipt. There was no manager in the place, and the waiters were in vain, given that people were waiting for his order to be taken. TERRIBLE!
The quality of service for the restaurant was extremely bad. We have waited for them to take the order for 20’ and the food was delivered, cold, after 70’. Moreover, the food we ordered did not had all the ingredients mentioned in the menu ( gyros). Also, their atitude was really bad and careless when we raised this point to them...
After a speedboat on the Danube, we were hungry for fresh fish and vegetables and lots of local Ursus beer. We asked for a round roofed table on the Danube and since we were a party of 7, the reserved sign was removed and we got it. The meal was delicious and glorious, the view magnificent. The service was also excellent. Life is good.
Melba is the best pension in Dubova.Room nr.1 is large and very clean, with a great view of the river.Breakfast is not very diversificated, but Cristina ,the waitress was super nice and helpful, allways smiling. The food in restaurant was very good, especially fish soup, saramura and bulgarian salad.
Worst service ever... Wait 1 hour for a soup..... Horrible.... Don't recomand to come here to eat... There were 3 waitress that can't handle it, bring me 1 espresso after 30 minutes.... The place looks nice but the service sucks
We were accommodated at a guest house in Dubova, but went to Melba for a dinner at the landlord recommendation, on Friday, September 14th, 2018. We arrived arround 6:00 - 6:15 pm and chose the terrace as the weather was perfect. The pace wasn t so crowded and one of the 2 waiters serving there told us to choose a table. Choosing the place was not very easy - we wanted closer to the Danube, but it was dirty, so we decided to sit at a table closer to the restaurant entrance. We waited for 30 -35 minutes and no waiter came to ask something, or to offer the menu list. One of the waiters served to one table, then he cashed at another table and after we didn t see him. The other waiter was looking to our table, but had a conversation with the receptionist of the hotel and didn t bother to come and ask us something. After such a long time spent there and no one taking notice of our presence, we left.…
