Stopped here for three nights at the beginning of the Easter School Hols and could not have been made more welcome. Our French was poor, but we managed with humour as proprietor and staff speak little English. Hotel on first impressions looks a little untidy from outside and in the corridors, as this is a family owned rather than corporate hotel. Nevertheless the rooms were clean and tidy and a super size with large bathroom inc double sinks. The balconies overlooking the lake are just as per photos on their web site. We dined for two evenings, we had thought it was a little expensive, but we were offered the table d'hote which any British Restaurant would have been proud to serve as a la carte. The food was excellent as additional courses appeared "on the house" and along with the beautifully appointed restaurant made for a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. The hotel is situated off the beaten track, is peaceful and an excellent location for visiting the coast and towns like Rochfort with its historical past - our girls enjoyed visiting the shopping history museum whilst the weather was off and were only sorry the array of town shops were closed as it was Sunday!

Our first visit to this hotel was a couple of weeks ago. We had a very stylish newly decorated room which looked out on the lake (although being December we couldn't actually see anything!). We ate in the restaurant and had an excellent meal at 30 euros - each dish was carefully thought out an well balanced with the taste of each item being well defined. The staff were all very friendly and professional. We shall certainly go again.

Delighted to see another review of this place. But it should be kept a secret.
This is not a luxury hotel but is comfortable and the food is wonderful and the staff kind, understanding and very helpful.
It is on a beautiful lakeside site and is peaceful and very quiet.
I'd detour 100kms to stay there again.
Real value and real France.

Beautiful comfortable and welcoming hotel - excellent location beside lake - in the middle of beautiful countryside and yet only 20 minutes from large town. Rooms very spacious and well appointed - beautiful pool and Hot-Tub - service very friendly and we felt we were welcome there.

This superb hotel has been owned and run by the Suire family for over 20 years. M. Suire is the chef, now assisted in the kitchen by his son. Mme Suire runs reception while her daughter-in-law manages the restaurant.

The hotel is very modern and immaculately presented in every respect. It overlooks a lake - a flooded quarry, I think - which is also an amenity for the village though during our visit at least there was no disturbance or noise at all from the lake, which seems to be a magnet for anglers. You can walk right round the lake in about 20 minutes, a very pleasant stroll. The hotel has a lovely, heated open-air pool on the front terrace.

Our room, overlooking the lake - I think all the rooms probably have that view - was modern, spacious and spotless. The only (very slight) quibble I'd have is that the walk-in shower has no light in it and it's a bit dark. There's free wi-fi throughout the hotel

The restaurant offers a la carte and fixed price menus. We had a three-course menu for 32 Euros each. Dinner was superb. The presentation of all the dishes, especially the entree and the dessert, was very imaginative and everything was beautifully cooked. We were served not one but two amuse-bouches before the serious business of dinner began.

We both chose the same dishes. The gravlax starter featured little cubes of salmon and there were little swirls of apple mousse as well. It's pretty routine to garnish gravlax with dill but how about a dill sorbet?! Served on a separate china spoon (which was part of the plate) it was absolutely delicious. Our main course was veal kidneys served on a bed of roasted onions. Our dessert featured chocolate and raspberries. I'm not going to describe it in case anyone reading this goes to stay at the hotel and orders the same dish: I wouldn't want to spoil the presentational surprise, which is half the fun. All I'll say is that it was a wonderful, imaginative dessert and if you think that celery sorbet wouldn't go with chocolate and raspberries, think again. One word of warning: the restaurant is on the expensive side - though well worth it - and the wine list doesn't contain many bargains.

The buffet breakfast next morning was plentiful and delicious.

We've stayed in a good number of French hotels over the years: this one is the best. We'll be back

We have stayed here on several occasions and every aspect of the hotel gets better every time. The restaurant is very pleasant with a good view over the lake and the cooking even better on every visit. Everybody is so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.

We stayed overnight en route St Malo and the south and the hotel makes an ideal overnight stop or stay for a few days and explore the atlantic coast whilst having a quiet bolthole. And it was very quiet - 17 rooms, one other set of guests. The hotel looked a little unloved when we drove in, but we were early in the season and it would seem that the owners are working hard to make improvements. The location is a delight overlooking a small lake with a very pleasant walk around and into woodland. There is a large children's play area. We think the lake and play area are municipal owned but fully accessible, with a place for coffee half way round the lake. The pool wasn't open. Our first floor room overlooked the lake and was recently upgraded with a large walk in shower and double basins open plan to the room and a separate loo. A decent size balcony as shown in the picture. Real coffee in the room. The lounge area was small and in need of an update but the dining room was lovely - high ceiling and lots of glass with a great view over the gardens to the lake. Personnel were friendly and professional and with good enough english if one has very little french. There was an english menu. The highlight of the stay was the food - dinner was very good - sophisticated, beautifully cooked and presented, worth going back for; continental breakfast next morning was very fresh. Ample free parking

Just got back after a visit to this property, which I believe is under new ownership and/or management, knowing nothing about the property beforehand.

We booked for three nights, and stayed for 6 nights. That says it all, really.

This is a wonderful getaway and I miss it already. Our bedroom was on the ground floor with a private patio area from which you could walk straight out to circuit the lake. Beautiful gardens, cycle paths and food. The atmosphere was peaceful and I really didn't want to leave.
The bathroom layout was a little odd, and I can't comment on the spa (no time to try). Would definitely recommend.
